I think dexter is slowly humanizing. He is feeling guilty over rita bc he truly cared for her. And he loves harrison with a great confusion to himself thinking he'd never love. And I don't know if anyone noticed this but trinity covertly cared about dexter. By killing rita be setdexter free knowing dexter wasn't ready to juggle a family.

Showtime isn't giving any answers and I contacted Digital Kitchen (who did the main title) who had nothing to do with it. I also got a response from Courtney Goodin (very kind guy), who is a member of the series sound department who said he might have some answers when he meets another sound expert. So fingers crossed.
Dexter is absolutely the best show ever. Better then The Sapranos. I agree with all you guys except for the non likers of course. Hopefully the ride will continue. Also the best comedy is Eastbound and Down.

I been watching it online scene June... only saw Season one and two for the first time last month! I am glad I do not have to wait and can watch it the following day after it airs! This tv show is proper! At some point all shows get cheesy. This twists and gore of this show are proper. The ending of season 4 was a lock for me as well. I feel sorry for the kids. I expect season 5 to be top notch, nonetheless!
Regarding the ending to Season 4, i was completely stunned. Then i became very angry that it ended the way that it did. It felt like some thing very near and dear to me was being taken away for no good reason. Though i'm curious as to how the writers are going to get themselves out the mess they created with such an ending, i will not be watching Season 5. I don't mind being manipulated carefully, but not violently.

Dexter is the only thing entertainment wise that has me in an unhealthy state of obsession. I really don't think a show this good will ever be created again. The only show that comes even a tad bit close to Dexter is Breaking Bad. When the scene with Rita at the end of season 4 came up. I honestly felt like something horrible happened to me IRL. Never has a show , movie, or book ever done that to me. Feels good man.

I want to know who actually killed Rita as I rewatched Episode 12 and still am unsure Trinity killed her! I have a feeling Elliot next door has some part in it! @nikkinguyener id almost agree with you if I wasn't also a fan of breaking bad. Cranston deserved it. But had hall won it, id be happy as well. Breaking Bad and Dexter are my two favorite shows on TV right now.
@nikkinguyener Bryan Cranston deserved the Emmy win because his character (Walter White) is so multi-dimensional and so real and his acting is really unmatched. Dexter is an amazing character, but he is inside his head most of the time and doesn't really have that explosiveness that the academy is looking for. This season it looks like he really opens up and I think he will win the Emmy now that Cranston is not eligible next year.
@TheBonesGirl14 This is true, Rita was very unexpected. I'm more referring to the villains lately. Every season the largest enemy that was in his way has died. His brother, Lila, Doakes (though not totally due to Dexter), Miguel Prado. Last season Trinity was so good I was hoping that maybe they'd go against the norm and make him escape somehow. Not just be killed in typical Dexter fashion. I feel like they're setting it up too obviously for Quinn, so maybe they'll surprise us.
I hate when Dexter says to the kids "Im sorry for your loss" that just makes him seem so cold! I know that is how he is, he dosent know what to say....but that is extreme even for dexter!

I would say that Quinn is basically a guy whos questioning a investigation. Doakes got the creeps from Dexter. Quinn doesnt hate or really in love with Dex. Quinn thought last year Dex was cheating on Rita and this is just a bit fishy.

So dexter kills him in the animated series. but its not linked to the show, but it does flirt with what you're saying.

Remember when he fantasies of having a son he froze Aster and Cody at the age they were than.... He can no longer relate to Astor and I feel this cause both Aster and cody to live with their grandparents leaving him with Harrison to raise with Deb!

I wouldn't say that Quinn is Doakes 2.0. I would rather say a beta version. Doakes was really great. Quinn is not as spectacular for me.

I would say that Quinn is basically a guy whos questioning a investigation. Doakes got the creeps from Dexter. Quinn doesnt hate or really in love with Dex. Quinn thought last year Dex was cheating on Rita and this is just a bit fishy.

@Gudoltimes IDK... Desmond Harrington is an incredible actor.. and we have yet to see him get really into Dexters life in a negative way... They had their little tiff nearing the end of season 4... but after this season i think we will be able to decide who gets the crown.. lol =] CANT WAIT!

@GeminiJetz I got season 1 and 2 for $10 each on christmas @ Walmart...but unless there a really good sale I doubt you can get all four for $40. Check the library, I watched 3 and 4 by borrowing it from there :)

doakes was a policeman -- compared to rita, the photographer and miguel's brother, he was the most positive character. i love the series, but if dexter isn't going down in the end, it'll be very wrong.

I think his dark passenger was the result of the military, I don't think he wanted to kill before the military. However, you're theory isn't out of the question, if you watch the cartoon webisodes, there is a black guy that looks just like doakes in the military and he's sniping people off. So dexter kills him in the animated series. but its not linked to the show, but it does flirt with what you're saying.
