  • does anyone no where to get a cheap hand held night vision camera from i need one anyone type back to me

  • Soo. if we use this, giant spiders will cross traintracks?

  • wow, it sure is dark out, hey, turn on the night vision. TURN IT OFF TURN IT OFF!!! LOL man I hate spiders, I hate spiders the size of railroad cars even more :-) that would be an awesum feature to add to my car though, apply that to heads up windscreen display and you have a great product.

  • im afraid of of spiders

  • I hate spying people.

I hate cops who is going to use crap like this.

I hate the goverment who cant wait to put it out on the streets.

I would like to murder some people who try to controlle me.

  • @RijenRijen How would seeing you in the dark give them more control over you? Unless you're a criminal that only works in the depth of night, but than you should be controlled for the safety of the rest of us.

  • @SuperLongbeard your talk is the excuse " but if you have nothing to hide... why would you care?" i can;t stand your talk because you did not think about all things.

  • @RijenRijen Actually, that's not what I said. I said there is no information they can control you with that they can gather with this software. If you think otherwise, then tell me one of the things I did not think about.

Don't get me wrong, I do hate the governments urge to control what we think or do but this camera just can't possibly help them with that.

  • oh my god just last night i ran into a giant tarantula fighting a giant praying mantis in the middle of the road! it was pretty epic.....

    GODZILLA WON lol

  • finally, I'll never run into a giant monster spider at night again

  • How did I ever dodge the tarantulas with only bare headlights?

  • A giant spider on the road

  • don't you hate those giant size spiders on the road all the time

  • this technology can be used to make night time driving safer, and to luminate what you otherwise might not... wtf?

  • haha I love the spider in the end of the clip

  • Yeah great invention. especialy if your ever in the movie Ice Spiders ROFL XD

  • Spider Crossing!

  • adobe glasses lmao

  • O.o

  • FUCKING SPIDERS GET OFF THE ROAD

  • haha. i wasnt expecting that. great invention btw.

  • IR night vision is much better and simpler.

  • possibly but this can be allied to many already existing cameras.

  • @ZZAKON you could combine them. It's not in the camera itself it's in the image processing software

  • If I was driving and I saw a giant spider cross the road. I would probably blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

  • "illuminate what you otherwise might not see"

I have a feeling that I'd see a giant spider without this technology.

That was unexpected but at least NewScientist has a sense of humor. =)

  • whats wit the spider?

  • ikr i was frightened

  • lmao @ the giant tarantula at the end...

  • i dont need night vision if a giant spider is in the road

  • haha the spider at the end was quite unexpected and funny :))

  • GAHHH!!! Eight legged freaks! lol

  • Anybody else see that giant walrus

  • Hey look I found waldo. The 1 ton mutant spider version, but still.

  • Wow, giant spider.

  • all they did is use the NIGHT VISION specs

  • Yea i might not see huge spiders trying to take over the world. :O

  • Now that I'm able to spot giant spiders crossing the road I'll finally be able to drive at night again.

  • Ruuuun its Godzilla ..... O wait, naw its just a spider.

  • Godzirraaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @magicmouse69 I fuwa you need glasses along with the new night vision set.. LoL

  • i swear, if i see a big hairy spider while i am driving, then i eider i have had to much to drink, or then i dont want to se the road!?!

  • Amazing. Thanks to this, I'll never run into a giant spider ever again!

  • holy #$% if I see that thing on the road at night I'd shit my pants 3 times

  • I never see big fucking spiders while driving at night. awesome

  • thats a pretty sexy night vision camera... oh no night vision camera I don't even, I just!

    this gives me nightmares.

  • good algorithm for noise reduction, it however doesn't improve quality, just contrast.

  • next we'll be able to see Camelot in the dark using knight vision.

  • No actually it was a woman: a spied her.

  • hello. i was actually stupidly trying to reply to someone about another video, but for some reason my reply wouldn't post. we had already had a few exchanges so i went on here (to continue conversation) thinking it was his channel, but it wasn't! so my communication skills at this point equalled zero! i'm 37 btw and we were discussing a video called "quest for immortality"

  • Holy screamin' JESUS, someone needs to warn those unaware passengers of that train of the coming gargantuan arachnid!

    Oh, the Humanity!.....

  • Oh, I thought that the driver should worry about a train on the road! :p

  • CHRIST, YOUR RIGHT! I was so afeared for the about to be caught unawares travelers, I hadn't even noticed that the train had run off it's tracks!!!!

Jump People, Juuuuump for your lives!

    GOD, does it never END?!

  • 5/5 stars for giant spider

  • Forget the night-vision tech! Let's address this epidemic of huge whoppin' spiders running rampant through our municipal infrastructure!! :O

  • Thank god, now i'll never be bothered by those massive spiders again. lol. NO seriously though, could be pretty useful. congrats

  • So, it's just bumping up the gamma?

  • that huge spider made my day.

  • that huge spider was the best

  • It's supposed to happen, the technology to enhance videos was sitting down there waiting to be put right inside the camera's system to process the video in real time.

    Nothing new mister.

  • Donä't fuyck that spider!

  • Comment removed

  • Atleast it's not a dragon.

  • Spiders are your friends!

  • If this is what night time roads actually look like, I am perfectly happy not seeing, thank you.

  • cool. y giant spider? lol

  • HOLY SHIT! I DIDN'T KNOW SPIDERS WERE ON THE ROAD!

Thanks to this new technology, I can be saved by giant mutant spiders! :D

  • *lol*

  • HOLY FUCK A SPIDER WATCH OUT

  • I lolled

  • yeah, if i can't see a giant spider will certainly eat me and my car

  • @sorry8140

That footage was shot from the perspective of a dung beetle driver, to whom jaywalking spiders are an all-too common hazard.

  • actually it was a controlled scene used to perfect the math of the algorithms. it's says so on the article.

  • LOL

  • if im driving i dont wanna see a gaint spider :s

  • that's so much better than using car highlights... the ones from the other cars always get in your eyes X_X

    hope this becomes more popular...

  • woo, new scientist pulled a funny!

  • Holy shit giant tarantula in mid downtown!

  • loled so hard at this otherwise serious channel!

  • i had i vision of something like that but ten times even better more expesive but a better idea for something similar..!

  • watch out..you might get eaten by a giant spider if u dont have this night vision.

  • @Spells14

    Give it 10 years~

    =]

  • @MyFatMonkey

I think it's too expensive to fit that in a car

  • would be cool if your whole windshield at night would have something like a screen on it and would do this. amazing. not going to happen.

  • right, like we'll all be driving around with night vision spectacles. So much for peripheral vision.

  • SPIDAA!! I remember Eight Legged Freaks. Want to watch it again now :)

  • hells to the yeahyah

  • but then what do you do once you meet up with the giant tarantula?

  • That looked pretty great - would like to have a camera like that.

  • It's just in case you're driving and Boom. Giant Tarantula.

  • it in a cel phone lol great!

  • nothing new, this is old

  • cool

  • wow that would be great

  • A giant spider. Hehe.

  • The spider made me lol

  • lol!

  • I wasn't paying attention and the tarantula made me jump! jk ;)

  • Comment removed

  • "what you otherwise might now see"

you mean this new camera will be useful to avoid giant mutant tarantulas while driving?

  • you wouldn't believe how many of them have died in traffic collisions.

  • yeh, coz giant tarantulas roam the streets.

  • holy sh$t, I gotta get me one of those so I can watch out for those giant fu$%ing tarantulas in the streets!

  • and illuminate what u might other wise not see LIKE A F**KEN HUGE SPIDER ON THE ROAD

  • It's supposed to happen, the technology to enhance videos was sitting down there waiting to be put right inside the camera system to process the video in real time.

  • yeah, totally hate it when I am driving with my headlights off and I hit giant tarantulas..

  • Giant tarantulas!? we wont be able to see giant tarantulas in the streets without them!?!

  • So, its like some kind of acid where you hallucinate giant spiders or what?

  • wtf, giant spider!!!

  • I don't quite understand why there's a Giant Spider crawling through that night time street.

  • @Destro7000 It's from Sweden, we have giant spiders everywhere.

  • Bellend.

  • This could have use in space exploration, as well. Can you imagine how much easier this would make finding new plane-GIANT SPIDER INVASION!

  • Looks awesome, what's the catch ^^

  • Hey, I've always been scared of giant tarantulas crossing the railway I am in

    lol.

    Cool biomimicry at work.

  • badass// but how do u get into a beetles vision? holding their hand?

  • when is this technology going to be implemented? i cant wait.

  • "The glare makes the corporate sponsorship darker - oh an here's a spider. We watched Monty Python last night."

  • She's a beaut that long legged friend of yours. I meant the tarantula

  • giant tarantula???

  • cool

  • that looks pretty handy :)

  • LOL spider XD

  • Good idea, though the color distortion must be fixed, given the color coding of traffic signals.

  • true, but i didn't see any color distortion. In which part of the video?

  • The very first preview, around 5 seconds in.

  • Wise men like HPL warned us that there were things we should not see and know about. And what do these nitwit scientists do? They turn around and MAKE us see that there are gigantic spiders roaming the night's darkness.

    Gee, thanks a lot guys.

  • @blackwolf1200 Oh Shi-

  • > see giant spider on tracks. i want to get off D:
