The reason was, the original matching number L24 was in a dis-assembled sorry state on my garage floor so I thought rather than spend a couple of thousand on the RB to get some decent Kw's, I thought build the L24 (2.7 liters now anyway) and run that engine instead. Missed the sound of a nice and healthy L series! I do highly recommend the NA RB though...lovely engine..
Where did you source the NA RB from? I went into Z-Car Garage in San Jose, CA and spoke to Rob (there are videos of Rob's lime green turbo RB 240Z around here somewhere) and they said that for the money and weight, an NA RB wasn't worth it and directed me toward a 2.8L swap (with the displacement upped to 3.1L). I'm still trying to find a clean '70-'72.5 240Z that hasn't been restored yet, and then I'll build it up. I just love these cars! You are lucky to own such a nice sample.
Thanks.. I sourced the NA RB from a local wrecker..cost around $600 from memory. I know for the money, an RB25DET would get more power but if you don't want a turbo and love induction noise, then a NA is the only way to go. Just have to change the cams and make your own triple manifold, and it should howl!
how fast is this thing do u race it at all iv been wondering if i could put itbs on a l28e i'm thinking of getting a 71 240z for sale and i have been thinking about this setup
Damn so you made 270whp on L24 with ITBs and this distributorless setup? I'm definitely interested. God I love NA...
My hats off to you sir.

might i ask why you removed the RB in favor of the L24???

I'm also curious why you removed the RB. Parts availability? Racing organization rules?

Wait....didn't you have an RB25?

Yep, that was removed a few months ago and the L24 was installed. Just waiting for my lumpier L24 to be built.
