I have heard from someone (he took a look at the code and the structure gave him this idea) that the games were all originally developed on the Atari 2600, where some of them were still bad, but with a price reduction it could probably work on the Atari. Too bad they decided to port it to the NES. Not only the games look comparatively worse on the NES, the whole collection was an in-house porting disaster on the "atari pacman" scale.

My friend designed the characters and was the third Cheetahman in the commercial. I produced slides of a three drawing set of Cheetahmen artwork done by him that was supposed to represent a Cheetahman tearing through a dark movie screen that was used for Screen-Vision (or whatever it was called back then) movie theater advertising. Got to see it only once, but it was cool.

Here's the serious marketing issue, other than action 52 being one of the worst games/things ever created by humans. It's that if they really thought the Cheetamen where going to be a big hit, packaging the main game of what you want to market within a 149$ game filled with 51 others, fucks everything up. I can sure as hell garentee that Grand Theft Auto 4 or whatever would not have sold as much sales if they put it behind a bunch of other games for 100+ bucks.
