Have you ever considered cutting the fabric to the right shape beforehand, cutting slits along the sides, and weaving the two braids through them before you braid them back together?
Outstanding video. I built one of these slings right after watching this video. Built mine out of sisal twine and duct tape. The sisal is kind of stiff. My next Apache sling is going to be made out of nylon twine and cloth. Might try the Apache design with para-cord. I really enjoy watching your videos. Thank you.
Seems like you are always going thru the leather from the underside. Are you, or just doesn´t appear when you do it from the upside? And are you stitching around the braids or thru the braids? Sorry, it is that I can´t hear you so well.
Not really, you only need one basic stitch, then you go around in a circle, then build in the missing areas. There's a PBS series here in the midwest called "Create" where women show each other different stitches and garments they've made. I used to think it was hard too, till watching them. It's very methodical. The trick is knowing and counting every stitch so you don't get lost in it. It's a lot like braiding with only one piece of string.
Instead of stitching a pouch, you might want to crochet a disk, then crochet that in between the two braided chords, filling in the open space with crocheted triangles. The disk will accomodate a missile better than a pouch.
i used waxed dental floss instead of regular thread.

i used 1/4 inch nylon rope is that too big?? i couldn't decide between sizes so i figured that it wouldn't break.

it sounds ok to me for a hand sling as long as you dont use too small a stone, i sometimes use 1/5 inch nylon cord so a 1/4 should be fine

ok thanks, i tested it today and it works great 225 ft plus with a good rock.
