  • 40 yard dash is all drive phase.. your just building speed the entire time, you never reach max speed until about 60 yards. Thats why you see vernon davis weighing 250 run 4.3's in the 40 because he is powerful. Its all about technique and power. The NFL should be testing atleast 60 yard dashes instead of 40's if they want to find the fastest player.

  • where are those BIG numbers you were talking about?

  • IDK I RAN TRACK N ITS A MAJOR DIFFERENCE COMING OUT THE BLOCK AND TAKING OFF ON OWN WILL AT THE COMINE THERE IS NO GUN TO GIVE U THAT INSTANT ADRENALINE N BOLT FIRST 40 WEN HE SET THE RECORD N BEJING COMPARED TO CHRIS JOHNSON WAS SAID TO BE THAT CHRIS JOHNSON WOULD HAVE BEEN IN FRONT AT THAT POINT LOL BUT GETTING HIS AS BLOWED AS THE RACE WENT

  • sub 4.0 40's are fiction, Randy Moss ran a legit 4.2 (when he felt like it) Chris Johnson has the record at the NFL combine 4.24.......What many of you JOHN MADDEN all americans dont realize is ITS electronic times versues hand held stop watches, hand held yea you could get an occasional 4.0 but with the more accurate electric watch that begin as soon the runner moves a 1/16th on an inch a 4.2 is what you get

  • track people work on speed and leg muscle...football works on weight gaining muscle everywere and speed....football players gotta be fast and tough track just have to be fast but i see no shame in either but i think the nfl puts way to much stock in the 40yard dash because you dont break for 40yards everytime and they dont have pads on whats the good in this

  • naw track people come out the blocks damn near 3/4ths speed. My speed trainer, Chaz Clemons, out of Lincoln University ran an official 3.99 forty yard dash

  • @steelcityroller tht doesnt make sense beacause laser times are slower than stop watch times

  • Sir, how can I even rely on your knowledge when you can't even spell the man's NAME right? But you're correct anyway, I watched it. I

  • i heard of a guy that was suppossed to go to the colt that was running a 4.19 40 yard dash in highschool, can someone tell me who it was

  • @marzosirius. bolt is fast in the second half of his run. not his 30-40

  • true

  • this one dude that ran the 100m in 9.85 ran the 40yd in 4.35 probably because there at there fastest at 30-40m

  • Anyone comparing football players to track stars is out of there minds.

Bolt, Gay, Powell would destroy the forty yard dash. I am willing to bet they would be in the 3 second mark.

  • maybe im not sure...i did an internship at a training facility for athletes. we knew that for 100m runners, we trained top high school and college athletes to accelerate so they hit their top speed around the 30m mark.

for football players, we had it in their heads that they wanna hit their top speed by the 10m mark. football players in my experience are so much faster out of the start, where as track stars have a much faster top speed.

  • I've found break downs by 10 meter splits of their runs, and their 40's aren't as fast as you'd think (very slight estimations have to be made because of the difference between yards and meters). But they run like low 4.2's, and I didn't include the reaction time to the gun, so its pretty comparible to a football 40.

  • @MARZOSIRUS : I would say Gay and Powel would have a faster time than Bolt, they're more of explosive sprinters. But Bolt wins longer sprints because of his longer legs. At this distance it's a safe bet that Powell and Gay would smoke Bolt, not taking anything away from Bolt.

  • Sorry but you are wrong. Go ahead and watch Hussein Bolt 100m in the olympics. Hussein Bolt leads the race the whole way. So that means even at the 10meter mark he is winning. So he is quicker and faster then Gay and Powell.

  • @MARZOSIRUS hahahaha. if its an accurate time it would be in the 4.3's they dont specialize in acceleration the specialize in top speed. sure they train to improve their start but any powerlifter can match them for some time until sprinters reach their top speed(25mph+). if you dont believe me do some research.

  • @MARZOSIRUS are u fucking high?

  • @gtaj03 I am more interested in what you are smoking? Obviously you speak like a little high school kid. Hussein Bolt is the fastest man on earth you idiot. Think before you speak out of your ass.

  • @MARZOSIRUS you really shouldn't tell him to think before he speaks out of his ass. You need to learn how to correctly spell Usain, not hussein, Bolt's name. You sound like a little high school kid yourself

  • @MARZOSIRUS actually just Gay, bolt even said his 40 yard dash time has never been under 4.3 he gains speed Powell just has an amazing stride Gay has the best start and I'm willing to bet right with you he'd be a 3.8 runner

  • @mrlajohn2010 then why gay is always behind bolt and asafa during the first 40 all the time???? walter dix has a great 40 and almost always start at the end of the pack. that shows how much faster track athletes are to football players

  • @MARZOSIRUS that is a possibilty but theyre fast 40 yard dash is all about starts

  • @MARZOSIRUS umm i dont know bout all that mayb sum other people in the olympics they dont have the fastest start offs gay definatley im not sure bout bolt tho

  • @MARZOSIRUS all three of them would also get their shit tossed by a 260 pound linebacker

  • @MARZOSIRUS but track stars aren't half the athletes lol

  • @capsmith20, horseshit.

  • @MARZOSIRUS Num nutts most Track stars dont have good take offs they have good strides and know how to finish...So they probably wouldnt be as fast as football players at the begging and a 40 yard dash is basically all take off...

  • @Tezbaby10124 They already timed numerous track stars running 3.9 and lower cock breath! LOL!

  • @Tezbaby10124 Believe it when I see it gimmie a link or a name or some proof or something...Dumb Dick LOL

  • @MARZOSIRUS actually bolt said he ran a 4.3 for his fastest 40 he just continues to gain speed he doesn't really get to full speed till 40 meters

  • @MARZOSIRUS The funny thing is alot of football players are track stars

  • @MARZOSIRUS and also if you think of it they run on a sound mark unlike the 40 they run when they ready so they deff with hall ass lol

  • @MARZOSIRUS no cause its a 40 yd dash, not a 100 m race. track stars usually get faster as they run, so they'd probrably get somewhere around this range

  • @MARZOSIRUS Bolt is actually one of the slowest starters. Have you ever noticed how he always ends up coming from behind?

  • @MARZOSIRUS First off who in their right minds would compare football players to track stars? Second it is not humanely possible to get 3 secs in a 40 yard dash. Third track stars usually have the slowest starts in the case of running however their form, and style increases their speed as time progresses. Fourth Powell, and Bolt would definitely not make the 3 sec mark why? because their start off is shit slow. They will need at least 3 secs to even reach either high 20s or low 30s

  • YEA RITE

  • you can check it out in fred hatfield's book .Hedid exactly what i did..except with Carl Lewis's time in the 100...if you are correct then there is no way of calculating bolts time in for 40 yards!? who is the moron now?

  • ya know he coulda cut like .3 off his shuttle time and L time if he woulda not turned all the way around

  • that cone thing was amazing what acceleration and agility!

  • Shit.. he's fucking fast

  • i timed him at 4.27

  • Bolt hasnt got crazy acceleration, he finishes way stronger. I think Asafa Powell would run a real fast 40.

  • i think bolt would run faster then a 4.35

  • bolt's 40 yard time at the olypics was 4.35..so this guy is a yard ahead of him at 40 yards or maybe he didn't run a 4.22...i wonder which is more likely

  • neither -- it's an indoor track -- if Bolt ran indoors his 40 would be ridiculous.

Go Bucs, make the team Pat!

  • you dont have any proof bolt ran a 4.35, he ran a 100 METER dash not a 40 YARD dash for one

  • they have bolts time every 10 meters so it can be extrapolated to 40 meters and 40 yards

  • like i said, preparing to run a 40 yard dash compared to running a 100 Meter dash (110 yards) are totally different things.

  • WTF!!! thats crazy acceleration

  • What acceleration! He's damn fast

  • let me guess. your highschool coach timed you

  • i run a 4.8 and i am only 12

  • stop lying piece of shit

  • fuck off bitch, i seriously do!

  • im 12 and i run a 5.26

  • my man was in full stride out of the blocks. he got them slave feet!!!

  • real talk...thats wut fast look like

  • i heard some guy say 4.25 or 4.35 im not sure which one though

  • He wasn't invited to the combine, and the person who posted this video inflated the 40 yard dash number. He ran closer to a 4.5 at Louisville's Pro Day. He was never drafted, its hard to not draft 4.2 speed so I'm pretty sure these numbers for this video are false

  • Whats up with the guy in the backround, he sounds like hes a drunk rapper. is that all we do when it comes to NFL eat chesseburgrs,hot-dogs,beer, and nachos, and take steroids

  • fastest 40 for a RB

  • he couldnt have ran a 4.22 Chris Johnson holds the fastest 40 with a 4.24

  • wind sprints omg i hate those anybody that played sports knows what im talkin bout

  • jerry rice did run a 4.6, its not how fast you run straight, its all about change of direction for a wr..

  • Emmitt Smith ran a 4.6-4.7. And hes one of the best ever.

  • Yeah, u r right Its not just about the speed.

I think agility and IQ the most important.

  • did he go pro?

  • u guys are right. when a fast guy steps onto a football field he magically becomes slower because of game speed. yeah thats real logical.

  • u know wat i dont like about u haters on youtube yall never played football and stepped foot on a field

  • or how ever this shit is written

  • u so jealous

  • Yeah, running in a straight line on an indoor carpet, starting from a sprinter's stance with no pads on and no defenders around has A LOT to do with football. Uh huh.

  • actually it applies because it proves that he can run a whole heck of a lot faster than you and could burn the hell out of most corners

  • wow, thats the dumbest thing ive heard all day. everyone gets timed without pads. then they all put pads on. think about it. if two wide recievers race without pads and one wins, who do you think will win with pads?

  • If u dont know what ur talking about, then dont even chime in.That's the problem w/ the world these days-All these idiots think they know stuff, so they feel the need to share their own stupid little opinion, when in reality they should shut the fuck up cuz they're ignorant....U put several lbs. of pads, uniform & equipment on a guy, in the third quarter in an outdoor stadium, with defenders trying to bring him down, & it's a whole new ballgame. It's called GAME SPEED. Ever hear of Jerry Rice?

  • have you ever even played football? personally, ive played my whole life. we always were timed in the 40 yard dash and whoever had the fastest time was the fastest on the field. you put different size pads on according to what position you play. thats why you do conditioning and weight lifting dumbass. natural speed carries onto the field whether it be 1st or 4th quarter. i dont know why you cant see that!

  • Of course a guy who runs a 4.3 is gonna run faster in an actual game than a guy who runs 5.1. But a guy who runs 4.3 doesn't always move faster on the field, in an actual game situation, than a guy who maybe ran a 4.5 or 4.6 or something. Why? Cuz once you have the pads on, the uniforms on, the cleats, the weather elements, the pressure, the opponent trying to stop you, and you're not in a sprinter's stance, etc. it's a whole new ballgame. I never saw anyone catch 4.6 Jerry Rice.

  • If a guy ran a 4.2 without pads and another guy ran a 4.5 without pads, how is the 4.5 guy going to magically be faster than the 4.2 guy when they both put pads on? And I agree that 4th quarter endurance is important, but that's not what they were testing. That's like telling someone who scored an 800 on the English SAT they're bad at math. It's quite possible their math skills aren't good, but that's not what they were tested over.

  • Bullshit Jerry rice ran a 4.6...at my highschool 1 of our recievers runs a 4.56 so no way is he same speed as Jerry already.....

  • Dude, actually Jerry was all that fast in the purest sense. What Jerry was was the best conditioned athlete on the field. So, when the 4.3 cornerback were sucking wind in the 4th quarter because they were out partying, a little the night before the game, and had slowed all the way down 4.8s, my man Jerry Rice was STILL turning out a 4.6deep in the 4th quarter in FULL pads. THAT'S when he would SMOKE YOU!!...and that's the difference!

  • that is completely wrong natural speed does not always transfer to game speed. good back to the fastest 40's in the combine over the past few years and tell me how many of those guys are elite players in the nfl. if you cant run good routes as a reciever or get out of your back pedal as a defensive back i dont care how fast they are they wont see the field except on special teams where speed matters more. as returners

  • good speed has a good explosive takeoff

  • dudes a raven

  • what round

  • free agent

  • he's a raven now.

  • I'd like to think I played a major role in Pat's sprinting career.

Considering he only ran track at "Hollywood" (Lakewood Sr. High) his senior year, it was profound. Winning state in the 4 x 100 and running the fastest time in Pinellas County in over 10 years, with Pat as our anchor, my extreme and unusual style of training made him and his teammates Champions. As a note, none of them had ran track their previous years, except DJ Brown, who was an average hurdler prior to that year. Coach Rob

  • Damn!! I felt a breeze fly by me just watching that bro! Congrats Pat, you definitely have a bright future ahead of you in the league! I'd of hated playing tag as a kid with you too....I think I'd have been able to catch Tim though! Yeah righ... maybe if I had a rocket strapped to my back and a pair of roller skates on!

  • I am Andre Nelson, and this is my first cousin Pat (PC) Carter doin his damn thang! Can ya'll imagine, I had to run from this cat playing TAG when we were younger....I hated TAG, lol! Love U CUZO!

  • You better realize how we do
