@Arajack I suggest 3ds max for modeling. It is much, much easier. Maya is more production-oriented which means it's a lot better than max for renderings and materials, though more complex. 3ds max is an excellent and very easy modeling factory, and you can also import your models into maya via .FBX file. That's how I work. Cheers!
@Arajack I learned to model in a week. I used Modo. Apple soldier has some really good tutorials. I had been using maya before that, and ever since learnig Modo, i can model with anything. I Do all models in modo, and import into maya for everything else.
you should try to attach some vertices of the cloth to a rigid body which is animated (moves down through the floor very fast) and will pull the cloth away...i tried the same with wind but it wont have this presenting effect
Its rendered so the only thing that really matter so much is the processor so that you can render it faster. When i say render I mean it loads each frame one by one slowly but perfectly
I understand you werock but my point is before rendering..when you simulate it in te workspace...maya in my comp crashes at such high simulation...the car and cloth one..i have tried it too...and it just crashes!
I just wanted to ask speffects the configuration of his computer lolz!
Your computer is fine. you just need more Ram. The Cloth simulation in Maya is only single threaded anyway, so even if you had a quad core, it would only use one core to simulate. Your graphics card means next to nothing when it comes to simulating or rendering. in 3D programs, the graphics card only controls what you see in the viewport. The 8600 card is plenty enough for a simulation of this magnitude. My old laptop with an intel integrated graphics would hold scenes of 15 million polys.Barely
actually their both great for modeling, the distinction being that their great for modeling different things. Mayas better with organics, and Max is better with architecture and hard forms. Which one you use is a combination of which tools youd want to use more, and your personal preference.
@squirtingbuttholes3 No, it's still preference. There still isn't a large enough gap in their performances that one could make a case for using one over the other by contrasting how any task is accomplished between the two.
too rigid. doenst behave like real cloth

QUESTION COULD SOMEBODY LEARN MODELING IN MAYA IN 2 MONTHS?
Arajack 11 months ago
@Arajack You could. It does depend on your previous software experience. If you already know 3D you could learn Maya modeling pretty quickly.
speffects 11 months ago
@speffects thanks dear bro for your support and encouragement .
2 weeks of time spent learning it and still .
i hope i could bring a life to my graduation Architecture project by Maya at the end of may .
BEST WISHES ..

@Arajack
i learned maya in 1 month but i already had 3 and a half years experience with other 3d programs

@Arajack: Gnomon fast track is 10 weeks - but its some of the most grueling work load you could ever try.

I have maya 2010 I cannot select polygonal faces when I right click and select face. Can somebody tell me what my problem might be?

What render engine did you use? Maya software/hardware, mental ray, or a 3rd party engine like vray?
directorilyas 1 year ago
@directorilyas
It was rendered in using Mental Ray in Maya. Simply setup using Final Gather and background ambience

Do you think you could tell me the ncloth settings you used and how many polygons you had? Very nice job

your computer must be really high-end..my comp at 2 gigs ram core2duo and nvid 8600GT sucks at such high end simulation!!
That great by the h way!!
