  • Bomb video!!!

  • i voted thumb's up.

  • Not a bad idea, but the music with all it's F Bombs is a little much don't ya think? I wouldn't use TOOL as my background music, it might be offensive to the people at the Discovery Channel who are listening to your proposal...But all in all not a bad pitch...Good luck...

  • Congrats! I'm not English so I can't understand most of the mesage, but you did a great job here, it looks hard. I support you.

  • Good choice of music. Best Tool album of all time. :)

    Cool video!

  • Woah, an older gentleman that likes Tool? A+ in my book! I hope Dirty Jobs comes out.

  • The music is Tool isn't it? Awesome. I hope you get a callback from Dirty Jobs!

  • YUP!!!

  • 5 stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;D

  • I can attest to how dirty these ponds are. I worked with Joe one summer before my senior year and High School, and so far this is by far the dirtiest job I have been employed in. I really hope that Dirty Jobs considers this and comes out to Santa Fe. Not only is the job dirty, but it is quite difficult and requires a great deal of menial labor, something Mike Rowe is quite fond of, i'm sure. :) Keep up the good work Joe.

  • Very nice video and I can relate I am starting out as a private breeder for various Cichlids. It can be messy sometimes especially if i have an algae bloom especially blue green algae.

  • I love this show!

  • You've got a nice, dirty and useful job!))

I don't know why Dirty Jobs hasn't come to your town((

I like this video! ...and the TV show too:)

  • Nice video! It'd be great to see you on Dirty Jobs too!

  • This video ROCKS! I want more!!

  • Excellent video! Hope you get a call from Dirty Jobs!!

  • Hope to see you on the show.

  • this is sooo cool!! I clean my own pond too including its biological filter!! its very challenging! and will do everything to keep my koi's healthy!!

  • awesome!

  • mike that is dirty.......

  • 5/5:)

  • Good luck you'll have to line up a big job for the episode something Mike can get right into.

  • Hope you get in the show.

    GOOD LUCK!

  • You do a dirty but good job. I hope you get on the show. :) 5/5

  • My girlfriend wants a pond Hope you make it..its one dam dirty job BigBassBountyHunter

  • i had to clean my pond this spring and man does it take forever..cleaning ponds and catching fish in mudy water is so hard ..hope to see you on tv soon.

  • Dang! That is some job, I give you credit, its like an aquarium at a larger level. We all know we do not enjoy cleaning out our protein skimmers and filter pads!

  • ahh this is completely true, i used to own a koi pond and dammit cleaning it is not fun. you have to empty the whole pond and literaly jump in to dig the muck out and scrape it out. and the filters.... those are just horrible to clean.

by the way, thats one damn nice waterfall

  • You often find dead squirrels down there?

We get a couple of those over the winter in our pool

  • I wonder when mob hitmen (and those tasked to cut up and dispose of the body) will be featured.

  • its supposed to be legit jobs?????

  • Well, I've got to ask this, what made you choose this type of music for your topic?

  • doesn't seem quite as dirty as some of their jobs, and not a lot of unexpected stuff seems to be going on here.

  • a pretty good video i'd say ^^

  • Great vid! And I bet there's a nice smell too. I certainly think this qualifies as a dirty job. Just be sure to give Mike the dirtiest part.

  • AWESOME VIDEO, YOU RULE!!! O/

  • For sure you'll make it. Good Luck!!!!!!

  • You submitted this on the dirty jobs part of the discovery website right?

  • i once wired a three phase, 20 hp pump motor, just for a zoo's decorative pond! whats a good pump that can handle approximately 35 GPM?

  • Savio has a pump wm2050 not a solids handling pump, will need some sort of pre filter like skimmer or pump sock.1.5" pipe adecquate for pond approx 1200 gallon max

  • thanks, but does the motor last? the thing looks like a submersible pump. i wonder, do you ever use sump pumps for ponds?

  • i actually think dirty jobs never covered this. this is a rare common job as a lot of people have these type of ponds if they own a lot of property. great video but what i want to know is the kind of submersible pumps used for common sized ponds. what is a good quality, energy efficient, and powerful pump to use?

  • hey uncle joey its Zach i hope you get on the show will tell all of my friends to vote for you!!!

  • So nice to hear from you,Glad you made it. Be sure to sub my channel so you get my new videos coming soon. Please come by and see the new fish I rescued last week(HUGE) say HI to mom and dad,Hopr to see you all soon....UNCLE JOEY

  • I think we have a winner...

  • GOOD LUCK HOPE YOU MAKE IT!!!!!!!

  • wow. thats is a dirty job. probably smells terrible.

  • Would be most concerned with the smell of rotten eggs HYDROGEN SULFIDE not good for fish or human, luckily we are out doors

  • darn, i forgot the name of this song... help?

  • SWAMP SONG

  • good luck man

  • I have 2 young koi and several shubunkin goldfish, and as winter approaches I'm torn as to whether I should bring them inside or not because up here in NY it can get pretty harsh... The pond is about 500 gallons and a bit over 2ft deep. I've done some research and found many conflicting opinions. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated -thank you

btw I hope to see you on dirty jobs soon!]

  • Thanx for the confidence you place in me... will go to your channel to discuss the options you are facing....see ya soon

  • cool video! most people admire Koi ponds because it brings beauty to gardens but they little to they know how much work the owners, or for most owners to hire people like you to maintain em:) nice nice nice:)

  • Hope you get to be on the show! it is a dirty job but someones gotta do it!

  • Great video Joe! I hope to see you on Dirty Jobs!

    Regards,

    John

  • good stuff man, keeping and raising koi can be fun but maintaining their pond... well just like on your video, its a bit of a chore

  • Couldn't do what you do lol

  • Awesome! I know from personal experience how gross and dirty a pond cleanout can be. Here's to Hoping that Mike Rowe comes knocking on your door real soon! :)

  • Nice, I love that show too, I hope they come visit you or at least get the idea from you to look into fish ponds!

  • Some people just don`t lok after what they have, better you than me

  • nice thoes koi probly thank you so much

  • pretty dirty, but they've done worse. I'm surprised you didn't mention the number of dead animals in there. My cousin's pool gets one a week.

  • Guess I am lucky no dead animals in my ponds. Where are you from and what animals are falling in.Location may have something to do with it. Thanx for the view and comment.....

  • pool and pond are different, i have both and i get dead rats and stuff in the pool but nothing but leaves in the pond. I think a pool is harder for animals to get out of and the water isn't poisonous like a pool's

  • I care for a few swimming pools as well and have few mice, that has been the worst of it. Lets it stays that way......

  • That seems likely. My cousins' have found rats, squirrels, a skunk. They found a small alligator once (alive, they live in Florida,) as well as several frogs and toads in the filter.

  • have posted numerous times will do another one soon 11,000 gallons and approx 60 lg kio come to my rescue facility, THANX for checking, maybe you could forward to them??

  • hey to get discovery to see this you have to post it as a video response you know.

  • I believe I have numerous times Will post a new one soon,11,000 gallon pond clean and rescue approx. 60 lg. koi

  • good luck

  • I cant believe how some people are convinced by their local pond store that products will remove or consume the filth at the bottom af a pond. Have had some difficulty getting septic pumpers to help remove the muck. Enjoyed your channel. THANX

  • Wow! Great video I hope Mike has you on the show. I can relate. My husband and I do pond cleanouts from time to time although we generally try to avoid them. It is certainly amazing wht you can find in the bottom of a pond. We not only found huge tree branches, and unopened bottled waters but also a pair of rubber boots! Oh and this client thought her pond was pretty clean till we removed 5 32 gallon trash cans of muck and debris!

  • you hear from mike row yet?

  • NO NEWS MAY BE GOOD NEWS, Will do a 11,000 gallon pond end of week, hope to filmwill remove over 60 large fish to rescue, this should get his attention. tired of the crap they are showing. STILLWAITING NOT HOLDING BREATH

  • Cool job that. Nothing quite smells like the bottom of a pond. Dirty fish them koi. MInd you carp is an anagram of crap.

  • hope you get on the show

  • Good luck with the submission.

  • Never thought this kind of job existed... I wish you luck with the submission... Pretty dirty...

  • Good luck with that. I know how gross it can be, 2 years ago when crawling in go grab the bottom plants I fell all the way down into it. I have a new way of doing this now. You seemed to have omitted the part of attempting to catch those smart koi and how much they can splash you. Beautiful pond at the end.

  • No problem catching fish DRAIN POND less stress

  • Nice effort, and motive, for sure, but...

I think you need to be a little more hardcore, for lack of a better word, to pique the interest of Rowe and hid crew.

  • ANY SUGGESTIONS?????

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, keep being the kindhearted person you are and give these carp a better life.

    Don't focus on "dirty jobs"...

You're job isn't dirty, it's lifesaving and honorable

Your work should be a secret work of love, not a grab a what "they" call dirty..

  • Good luck with your submission....I must say I was impressed with your song choice by Tool.... : )

  • i was eating while watching this :D

by the way nice choice of music!

  • OOPS!! HEY THANX FOR THE COMMENT

  • gooo yanyoulen let us knw whn u get on the show i hope u doooo!!!

  • I like the video editing on this. And I like that you used a green screen as well. I'm sure this will stick out from all of the other submissions. There are 2 minor details that bother me though. lol. at 2:02, the transition isnt smooth. And at 2:12, it would have been cool to see a quick dissolve instead of a cut. But thats me being anal. Anyway, great video!

  • Gil does a great job on my videos,we are always listening to what our viewers suggest,we appreciate the views and comments. We hope to keep doing these videos, and look forward to trying different things.THANX........

  • You did a excellent job I must say.

It's terrible how people can neglect their animals .

    Peace,

    Erik

  • Thru the KOI-RESCUE I offer an option to those who cannot care for their fish properly and place fish where it appears that the system and the people can afford them. Have placed over400 in the last 3 years.Very Gratifying.....

  • Hey Man,

That sounds very gratifying indeed . Keep up doing your great job and being you!.

Peace and I hope for you to see you one time on dirty-jobs

  • Good luck my friend... If i lived near you id help you out ^^

  • Thank You for the kind thought!!!

  • haha i never would have thought koi carp would need rescuing

  • i could imagine the funk smell with the filters.. after all you got uneaten koi food, fish fecal matter..and like you said anything else that falls in there.

hope you get on the show.

  • wow that's actually a good submission.

  • Thank You!

  • I plan on building a pond next spring. This video is starting to make me worry. How much money and time should it take each week to ensure that my new pond NEVER even comes close to looking like that ? I have watched hundreds of pond videos but this is the first neglected pond , video I have seen.

  • There are many neglected ponds, the mechanical system is a primary factor and contributes greatly to the amount of care needed.

  • you sent to the discovery channel right? this is awesome

  • Have sent yhey have not accepted please forward to them.

  • k. i will!

  • Wait, they haven't accepted "yet"? or they sent you an email saying "no thanks"???

  • Well I did say I would be waiting,GLAD I didn't say I would hold my breath,ALL IN FUN I LOVE DIRTY JOBS, and certainly have one...

  • Awesome man!

  • nice job! i hope you get in the show :)

  • thats a nice pond

  • Ick!!!

  • THAT is a dirty job! you must make a hell of a lot of money though =P

  • ...may be a smelly experience right after you`d empty it for water i imagine!

  • Great Submission!

  • cool you get to work with koi fish

ps are they related to gold fish

  • Only by association

  • GO KOI!

I think they are the best fish ever!

  • Ditto on that!!!!

  • -.-?

  • nice :D

  • Great Video

  • awsome! btw how did u find me? :P u sendt me the vid! Looks cool!

  • He mass sent it to lots of ppl

  • Who is he, tell him thank you for me

  • Nice work. Reef tanks are my thing. Like the ponds, just haven't had the spare time for one.

I don't think that fish keeping will make it to dirty jobs though.

I have had plenty of dirty jobs in the electrical and HVACR trades though. @ 15 years ago my boss sent me and another man to remove a 600Lb turd from a crawl space where his drunk plumber failed to connect the pipe from the toilet and the main. Plenty more where that came from. Would have liked to have Mike there to share the love.

  • Yeah they do take some time , but they also take ALOT of spare change, Yeah I've done all that plumber stuff dirty but not gratifying AT ALL

  • lol at 1:27-1:30, i can relate to that, during my earlier years in trucking when it was slow, i would get assigned to work with the plumber as his helper, in crawl spaces, fixing leaking sewer lines, we called it: "rump drool" that we had to crawl in to do out dirty job, so cheer up, that fishy poo must taste much better when that stuff spatters on yer lips! lol yeah, drop a wrench and watch out for da spatter!

great vid none the less you have made, good luck in yer pursuit my friend :)

  • Yeah maybe better owned backhoes and did many septic repairs, got to hate it. now when I am done you can see and enjoy.although dumping in an operable toilet is enjoyable.never dumped in the ones i fixed omly the one i own. so I guess we both agree.....JOE

  • Definitely dirty

  • mike rowe is not going to this one

  • well its not as dirty as changing oil in diesel engines, but its pretty good

  • haha im just joking with you hope we get to see you in dirty jobs god bless

  • Thank You I can always use that....JOE

  • cool

  • tool :D

  • So you recover the koi from peoples neglected ponds?

Yeah, get the right yard and it can be dirty.

Seeing as you are on scene, what if your area runs out of rescues?

And whoever thinks this music is bad needs to follow the fate of the Lemming.

  • Not likely to happen, successes and failures create rescue. I do not make any money with rescue operation that is just something I do...

  • Cool video but the music just ruined it.

  • Hadnt had a chance to pick up the beat on other videos . Heck the name is SWANP SONG se my other videos every one always digs the music selections Gilbert selects any ideas you have will be considered

  • that was pretty good, i just thought the music didnt help, i kinda do the same thing but with tanks but buisness is not good enough to have a company car or to live off it

  • AS long as you enjoy it,dont give up,many poeple provide your services and do well. work hard be inovative and honest, study and you will make your niche, spend more time at local pet stores they are a great resource ask many questions make business cards and pass uot every chance you get. Good Luck

  • tool

  • what the fuck is this shit, you change water and clean rocks you freak

  • PLease see my other videos, I dont expect every to understand. I have many other interests as well.will visit your chanel and see what gets your freak on

  • O.K. I went to your channel you surley got your FREAK ON So glad my kids didnt take your direction,Man I got a lot to be proud of

  • you guys really clean up

  • I HAVE bulit two ponds in our back yard with my Dad!

    BEEN THERE DONE THAT! YUK!

  • While I am sure this job could be wicked dirty I don't think the video really shows how dirty you think it is.

The video is reasonably well done 'technically' it reads more like a commercial for your services. The only 'dirty' part is when you lift the pad off the bottom to expose 3 mud covered rocks. WTF?

  • Most viewers like what ive done here,I am not a multi mill corp. Your video is great proffesionally done no doubt. This video was done in a hurry just me and my son in law on camera... Thank you for the comment. good luckto us both

  • WE are having fun here and just compare views and ratings and comments the general public is pleased with what we are doing here See our other videos/living/learning/loving

  • nice gd luck if u get on the show 5 stars

  • Mikr must see that shit xD

  • This isn't a dirty job.

I dunno, maybe coz I own a pond and work on it I don't see it as so dirty but I don't think it's a big deal.

  • its probably not that bad because you do work on it. He probably has to go out to ponds that are the owners put in because they are pretty then don't want to work to keep pretty. Couple of years later and the pond is nasty and stinky and most of the Koi are dead and that is what he seems to deal with.

  • Somebody understands Thanx Bro

  • Nicely made video. As a former pond owner, I fully understand the "muck" and the order when it hits the hot Florida sun. One of the reasons why I never installed a Kio pond in my new house when I moved. Worthy of Dirty Jobs. I honestly think you should be considered. for your objective, I'll give you 4-stars.

  • How much do you offer to pay if you do this job??

  • I enjoy how "Powerthirst" is a related video.

  • wow! Mike should definitely tackle this!

  • I hope you get on the show, great vid and music ;)

  • I hope you get on the show.

  • i hope you make it on the show i want to see mike fall into fish poo lol :P

  • Nicely shot, though I don't connect the subject matter with the musical selection. Is this reality TV-style music/ If so, it would need bumpy, shakey camera work with hundreds of quick jump-cuts...not very zen or koi, in my opinion... Great pond work & camera work! I hope you get picked for having a valid dirty job.

  • The music selection name is swamp song by TOOL, See my other videos if zen is what you need. when on job it is rock&roll for me...JOE

  • only the best mate :D

  • I hope you get on the show. Let us know if you do.

  • The pond next door to me has at least one alligator in it. Wife wants me to call the wildlife agents to move it, but I trust the alligator more than I do government employees.

  • That would scare the crap out of me.... would scare the crap out of my fish too!!!!!I am afraid you best do as she says.. The aligatorwould probly be happier where they talke it

  • The gator is in his territory; it's just that I live here, too. And the snakes and bears and panthers and foxes and other neighbors...we try to share the area.

  • Your pulling rocks out of fish crap and dead plants... What's so dirty about that?

  • He also said "whatever else falls into a pond", meaning dead birds, cats, etc. It can be a very gross job, indeed. Perhaps wading in a dirty koi pond for 20 minutes might change your opinion of his dirty job.

  • It's funny how everyone has an opinion on something they know nothing about.

20 mins? id say 5 would do it lol

  • I used to watch Dirty Jobs religiously. I barely have time these days, but I'd love to see this on the show.

  • Seems like a cool, but dirty, job! :) Good luck!

  • yeah ponds are a piece of work man. i like it, hope you get on the show!

  • we had a fish ponfd and yes they are dirty to clean, yes yours id one stinkey/dirty job! best of luck!

  • People forget that ponds actually take work to maintain it's more then just putting a bucket of water into the ground. I can definitely see this on the show as like small time filler.

  • unless of course it is a big time pond!!!!

  • that is one dirty job...

  • ha! That's not dirty. i bathe in tub like that.

just kidding to those new to the internetz.

  • Damn...Fish are dirty mofos.

  • OH MY GOD THE SWAMP SONG!!! AWESOME LOL

Id vote it just for that =P lol now if you could point me in the right direction to put my vote itd be a great help!

  • I have submitted days ago but i guess it is not accepted as of yet.go to discovery channel/dirty jobs see how you do there. I said I would be waiting glad I didnt say hold my breath, very excited about the honors see stats and data yeah !!!
