I bought my guinea pig in July 2011 and she had been living in a cage w/ her bro so in October she a baby's and she had ate 2 when we went in there to check one her.. Only 1 was left a all white one.. So we went to eat lunch and we came back and she had ate the last baby while it was still alive... Do you why she could of done this? Does anyone no??

Cookie, Fluffy, and cinnamon. 2 boys, 1 girl. cookie is the only one still alive. snowball was 3, fluffy and cinnamon were 2

She has had 4 litters since then and I've completely stopped her from breeding. She's getting old now and she needs her rest. I recently lost one of her babies and it killed me to have to bury her. She's missed badly and I don't know how I'll react when Bella passes. I love her so much.!

My guinea pig snow had a baby which was deformed and he passed away 3 days after he was born /: he was small like thumbalina and his head was also flat. on one of his hands he only have 3 fingers(which he was suppposed to have 4) i will luv and miss him forever</3
So does a guinea pigs water brake then? Mine has to be close to her do date but i dont know the exact week she is on. so im just watching her real close just in case. Im not sure 100% on what the warning sighns of labor are. I didnt want to have babie guinea pigs but I was sold to girls when one was really a boy.

My guinea pig had 5 babies 3 months ago. 3 were still born 2 alive, the one seemed to have an eye infection but got better shortly and that one was tiny. they grew up and now are living together in there new home
at the begging, i thought "my guinea pig looks like that" but shes not pregnant, shes just fat. lol. and please no comments about how that is sooo bad ug whatever i dont want to hear it. she was born fatter than other pigs so she will probably stay like that.
i used to have a guinea pig named pumpkin, she was cute and chubby :) she was a calm guinea pig and would always lick my finger and lay in my lap. she was my second guinea pig and ive had 3 guinea pigs of mine die but i cried the most when the vet put her down. she had a stroke :(
that is really sad. i bought my guinea pig pregnant. i didn't know. me and my friend were petting her and we felt kicks. soon we found out we were right. she had 3 heathy guinea pigs. she was a goos mama. she would push a baby out of the way so another one could eat. that was nice. each baby was fed. soon the smallest grew as big as the other two because of this. they are all adults. i kept the only girl. if you want to she her and her mother look up all about reeses. look for a cute g pig

Mine died 3 months ago, his name was Moochie, was the cutest sweetest guinea pig ever, used to sleep on my lap, sucking my finger, he loved to do that since he was a baby. Moochie just died calmly while sleeping. Next morning he was gone. I still have his partner that Im pretty sure, misses him a lot. Im thinking about getting her a new partner, cause I dont like to see her so lonely.
@caitlin395 no no Im not trying to replace him. But is not nice for my poor Tequila to be all alone by herself in that huge cage, no one to play with or squeak over food (giggles)
I already got her 2 baby sisters (Shiro and Punky<-- has punk hair XD ) so now she seems more happy, squeaks and walks around the cage a lot more, not just sit in a corner all day.

Plus it was far away, I wanted to help but i couldn't, so we just watched s he stuggled to his death, i cried sooo much!!! he was soo special, he was cream colored with hair sticking out all over! I know God has a place for him in heaven and i will see him soon! I am responding to catparker5's question. Well, yes, I have had alot of hamsters and they all died within about a week, (I bought one right after the other one died.) There was onley a few that survived, our first one, and one we had to give away then my favorite on which was very special to me, His name was caspian, he was soo special! he was one of my very personal ones i loved with all my heart, when he died it felt like i would too. We tried to get him to a vet but failed. i will cintinue...
my pig just had 5 and one is disabled like a brain problem ive been takeing her and her mom out so she can nurse she can get around but she will fall over and spin her head in a weird way i feel bad like i should let nature take its course but if i can get it growen up it might be fine...in my little 2 came out in the same sac and they were the smallest tiny like thumbalina but are doing good
Just what kind of milk are you feeding baby Thumbelina?!? Kitten formula? That's may be incompatible, you fed that baby guinea piglet and caused her digestive system to collapse as a result of that. :/ You could have let Thumbelina get the milk from the momma while you put the stronger babies aside. :/
Goregous Piggie. I got two females from a petstore, and soon one had a litter of 5 babies! Though 2 died, the 3 others are now 4 months old and very healthy.
Horrible music. Pray for the souls of people who believe in lord squeezus. Btw guinea pigs are as dumb as stumps and you can't tell a preggers one from a stable one. Or from a lump in their hay. But they're cute and furry yet usually confined to tiny petco crates. Not cool. This has been my essay.
i can remember my little Misty being pregnant she only 4 and Castor was also the runt of the litter, we really thought he wouldnt make it, cos he was sooo weak, but now 8 weeks on and hes doing fantastic and soo stronge, we had to hand feed him too, hes tons smaller still, they maybe 8 weeks but Castor is more of the size of an 4-5 Week old. Its sad that little thumbalina past away =( R.I.P

Wot a bloody brilliant film!! I've rescued 40 piggies in the past few months and also had new arrivals and out of them we lost one last week cause he was so weak :( go bless all the poorly piggies that dont make it :( u may b gone but you'll never b forgotten xxxx

THATS SO SCARY!!! my guienea pig gave birth to 3 babies and the biggest one of the group was a boy and it looks EXACTLY like the pig at, 3:47. identical. thats so scary. i named him scooby doo, cause she gave birth to another boy that was to crazy hair so i named him shaggy, so, shaggy and scooby doo. :D
Poor Thumbalina! My rabbit had 8 babies (6 boys and 2 girls) and one baby named Bella died at 4 days old. The rest of the babies grew up healthy and strong and still live with us except for one that had a heart attack. Rest in peace Bella, Cobalt, and Thumbalina!
This is a bittersweet video; amazing to see how Hazel pulled through, when 2 or 3 is the average litter size, she's a super mum! But it's sad to think that due to someones carelessness Hazel had to put her body through so much stress and poor Thumbelina had to die. there were then 7 more piggies in need of new homes, on top of all those other hundreds of thousands in need of a forever home.

Love it so sweet all my guinea pigs are rescues... I have 3 two females from the same mom and a male that was neglected... I also have two dogs that are rescues and three kitties... one of which was a stray. :) I feel so proud thinking about how I changed the lives of 8 animals by just showing them a little love.
That's so sad the little one didn't make it! I used to have a guinea pig when I was little. It passed away from old age. My friend just bought a little baby guinea pig and it's super cute!!! I think I might have to get another one soon :)

Our Rosie had a litter of six...two of them didn't make it, though, and died that night. The other four lived to old age and had babies and grandbabies.
@lani: Isn't it amazing? Guinea pigs have a relatively long gestation (pregnancy) period compared to other rodents. They've got all their teeth and toenails, and they're ready to hit the ground running! The babies will nibble solid food out of curiosity the first day.
Nice video. She had a lot of babies. My guinea pig "Pookie" had three babies. They were so adorable. I kept the girl and took the Dad and two boys to the pet store to get adopted by employees. The male should have been a female so they agreed to take all of the males from me. I used to love watching them with their Mom. One of the boys in particular loved to be near her side and she seemed to enjoy that. It was easy giving them away.

I had a guinea pig named Flower (he was a boy) when I was 5. When I was 7 and he was 3, (I got him when he was 1) I had to move to a place called Bahrain. (It's next to the Arabian Dessert.) While I was gone, I had left him with an old friend who owned his mom and sister, he got sick, stopped eating, and died. I didn't get to say goodbye or berry him in my back yard. I cried a long time. Now I have two sister guinea pigs named Daisy and Olive. Check out my video I made with them. It's cute!!
i miss my guinea pig,her name was pistachio. she got pregnant 4 times and a total of 6 guinea pigs, then pistachio got sick and we took her to the vet and the doctor said they half to Put her asleep. and i sat there and watched her die slow. and im 11 years old and that happend a week ago.i cried and cried so hard that i coudnt take it anymore.so we bury her in our backyard,and i pray to god every day to make sure that she's ok, i miss her so much,and im crying right now. thumbs up to help her
@catparker5 How is it going to help a dead guinea pig if people likes your comment? She's prbly in heaven and everything there is perfect and good so you don't have to worry anyway. LOL
@catparker5 No offense, but she probably would've lived longer if you hadn't let her get pregnant so many times. Pregnancy takes a huge toll on the body, especially huge litters like 8 babies.
I won't lie. I cried watching this video. It was absolutely beautiful, and whenever vet school gets hard I end up finding something like this. It reminds me why I'm getting into animal science in the first place. Everyone has dreams, but not everyone is willing to work hard for them. God definitely speaks to us through people like you, and the world is a better place with folks like you on it.
On a side note, WOW eight babies. That mommy is a trooper!

Plus it was far away, I wanted to help but i couldn't, so we just watched s he stuggled to his death, i cried sooo much!!! he was soo special, he was cream colored with hair sticking out all over! I know God has a place for him in heaven and i will see him soon! Anyway i have a beautiful calico ginny pig named Winny which is a perfect name for her because she does just that, excpecily when i rustle her food bag! I love her so much and hope she has a looonnng happy life with me! thnx! ~Serena

I am responding to catparker5's question. Well, yes, I have had alot of hamsters and they all died within about a week, (I bought one right after the other one died.) There was onley a few that survived, our first one, and one we had to give away then my favorite on which was very special to me, His name was caspian, he was soo special! he was one of my very personal ones i loved with all my heart, when he died it felt like i would too. We tried to get him to a vet but failed. i will cintinue...

Holy cow, 8 babies! Our sow just had 4 (one died =/) and she was huge beforehand. I can't imagine double that.

my pig just had 5 and one is disabled like a brain problem ive been takeing her and her mom out so she can nurse she can get around but she will fall over and spin her head in a weird way i feel bad like i should let nature take its course but if i can get it growen up it might be fine...in my little 2 came out in the same sac and they were the smallest tiny like thumbalina but are doing good

Just what kind of milk are you feeding baby Thumbelina?!? Kitten formula? That's may be incompatible, you fed that baby guinea piglet and caused her digestive system to collapse as a result of that. :/ You could have let Thumbelina get the milk from the momma while you put the stronger babies aside. :/

Goregous Piggie. I got two females from a petstore, and soon one had a litter of 5 babies! Though 2 died, the 3 others are now 4 months old and very healthy.

Horrible music. Pray for the souls of people who believe in lord squeezus. Btw guinea pigs are as dumb as stumps and you can't tell a preggers one from a stable one. Or from a lump in their hay. But they're cute and furry yet usually confined to tiny petco crates. Not cool. This has been my essay.

i can remember my little Misty being pregnant she only 4 and Castor was also the runt of the litter, we really thought he wouldnt make it, cos he was sooo weak, but now 8 weeks on and hes doing fantastic and soo stronge, we had to hand feed him too, hes tons smaller still, they maybe 8 weeks but Castor is more of the size of an 4-5 Week old. Its sad that little thumbalina past away =( R.I.P

Wot a bloody brilliant film!! I've rescued 40 piggies in the past few months and also had new arrivals and out of them we lost one last week cause he was so weak :( go bless all the poorly piggies that dont make it :( u may b gone but you'll never b forgotten xxxx

THATS SO SCARY!!! my guienea pig gave birth to 3 babies and the biggest one of the group was a boy and it looks EXACTLY like the pig at, 3:47. identical. thats so scary. i named him scooby doo, cause she gave birth to another boy that was to crazy hair so i named him shaggy, so, shaggy and scooby doo. :D

Poor Thumbalina! My rabbit had 8 babies (6 boys and 2 girls) and one baby named Bella died at 4 days old. The rest of the babies grew up healthy and strong and still live with us except for one that had a heart attack. Rest in peace Bella, Cobalt, and Thumbalina!

This is a bittersweet video; amazing to see how Hazel pulled through, when 2 or 3 is the average litter size, she's a super mum! But it's sad to think that due to someones carelessness Hazel had to put her body through so much stress and poor Thumbelina had to die. there were then 7 more piggies in need of new homes, on top of all those other hundreds of thousands in need of a forever home.
Hope all the surviving piggies are happy and healthy :)

Love it so sweet all my guinea pigs are rescues... I have 3 two females from the same mom and a male that was neglected... I also have two dogs that are rescues and three kitties... one of which was a stray. :) I feel so proud thinking about how I changed the lives of 8 animals by just showing them a little love.

That's so sad the little one didn't make it! I used to have a guinea pig when I was little. It passed away from old age. My friend just bought a little baby guinea pig and it's super cute!!! I think I might have to get another one soon :)

My goodness, how did they all FIT in there??
Our Rosie had a litter of six...two of them didn't make it, though, and died that night. The other four lived to old age and had babies and grandbabies.
@lani: Isn't it amazing? Guinea pigs have a relatively long gestation (pregnancy) period compared to other rodents. They've got all their teeth and toenails, and they're ready to hit the ground running! The babies will nibble solid food out of curiosity the first day.

Nice video. She had a lot of babies. My guinea pig "Pookie" had three babies. They were so adorable. I kept the girl and took the Dad and two boys to the pet store to get adopted by employees. The male should have been a female so they agreed to take all of the males from me. I used to love watching them with their Mom. One of the boys in particular loved to be near her side and she seemed to enjoy that. It was easy giving them away.

I had a guinea pig named Flower (he was a boy) when I was 5. When I was 7 and he was 3, (I got him when he was 1) I had to move to a place called Bahrain. (It's next to the Arabian Dessert.) While I was gone, I had left him with an old friend who owned his mom and sister, he got sick, stopped eating, and died. I didn't get to say goodbye or berry him in my back yard. I cried a long time. Now I have two sister guinea pigs named Daisy and Olive. Check out my video I made with them. It's cute!!

i miss my guinea pig,her name was pistachio. she got pregnant 4 times and a total of 6 guinea pigs, then pistachio got sick and we took her to the vet and the doctor said they half to Put her asleep. and i sat there and watched her die slow. and im 11 years old and that happend a week ago.i cried and cried so hard that i coudnt take it anymore.so we bury her in our backyard,and i pray to god every day to make sure that she's ok, i miss her so much,and im crying right now. thumbs up to help her

sometimes putting them to rest is more gentle than not doing it, thats the same with all animals its tough, but has to be done sometimes.

@catparker5 No offense, but she probably would've lived longer if you hadn't let her get pregnant so many times. Pregnancy takes a huge toll on the body, especially huge litters like 8 babies.

I won't lie. I cried watching this video. It was absolutely beautiful, and whenever vet school gets hard I end up finding something like this. It reminds me why I'm getting into animal science in the first place. Everyone has dreams, but not everyone is willing to work hard for them. God definitely speaks to us through people like you, and the world is a better place with folks like you on it.
On a side note, WOW eight babies. That mommy is a trooper!
