OK Hitchens clears it up at 13:00 minute. I would say that Homoerotic activity is certainly not Gay. If you watch the documentary Restrepo about the Afghan War by Sebastian Jung and Tim Hetherington. The soldiers participate in some of this type of behavior, but it in no way makes them Gay; Sexually frustrated yes, Gay no.

I am reading Christopher's book and he talks about having feelings for another boy, but I don't remember his saying their intercourse or any other sexual activity with the boys. I am not so sure that having feeling for another boy at a young age I would classify and be gay. Sexuality is a whole lot more difficult a subject that this.

Hitchens' support of the war in Iraq is foolish. kurds didn't necessarily stand to gain anything in the short term that they wouldn't gain in the long term because of the war. it comes down to the lies about motives for the war, and the bush regime's were so selfish, based on lies about Hussein's make-believe "threat" to americans. the war is an imperialist one, that's why there was no real plan for withdrawal. rumsfeld said troops would be there for a long time.

This is asinine. Homophobia (in the form of feeling uneasy or disgusted by homosexuality) is a natural instinct. Just as a heterosexual male feels "attracted" to women, there is a "repulsion" against homosexuality.

Sure, insecurity about one's own gay tendencies may play a role, but it's not a requirement.

All I'm saying is, that's not the sole root of homophobia.

I can feel attracted to a beautiful female, but my negative response to a fat and ugly one will still be different, or more intense, than if that ugly person was a female.

A male isn't in the "market" for me, and so the repulsion isn't as strong.

Same with homosexuality, it doesn't "feel right", because heterosexual men are "programmed" against it. If I feel repulsion against some deviant sexual practice, it doesn't mean I'm suppressing it in myself, all it means is that I feel a repulsion against it.

Bill Clinton is a very unsavory character, but there are all sorts of illusions surrounding his presidency. I tend to agree with Christopher on this point.

And, you know, although I know Christopher isn't gay, I am, and I had a big smile on my face when I first read of his involvement with men as a young person. He's always been very steadfast in defending homosexuality, and that can only add more sense as to why. It makes sense to him.

Hitchens is fine but I do not like his lifestyle. And he talks about politics as if he could do a better job if elected. Many people criticize those in power but it is a different story when one has to make the decisions. In order to gain the power one has to behave in a certain ways and that changes the person. Hitchens talks like he knows it all but he is a journalist not a leader.
