  • Could anyone maybe tell who might the pianist be here who is accompanying Heifetz? And when (on what year) was this recording made?

  • yes . calm and be yourself

  • Yes. calm and be yourself.

  • I will be playing this for my diploma this year, and i really need help! Any tips? Please help! Thanks!

  • @ConanCraziness dont play feel!

  • @ConanCraziness I suppose I'd advise you to play boldly and not be afraid of playing it "wrong." Like the other user said, play with your feelings and the rest will come naturally. It is your voice, not the composers, that needs to come through.

  • @ 1:53 he played B instead of B flat it could be a mistake or he wanted 2 make it different this time but anyway, who cares!!!! i just luv this piece!!!!

  • Absolutely magistral!

  • who cares if there is a "mistake" it stlil sounds amaazing :)

  • I don`t think it is a mistake , Heifetz`skill can`t make this impossible wrong....

Do you think this is a special note to impress his idea ?

  • Oh damn, shouldn't have commented, people already noticed this mistake.

  • Lol, @ 1:54 he played B natural instead of B flat.

  • @therubysinger at 1:54 Heifetz plays B natural instead of B flat and I have no idea why he did that. He must have done it purposely but everybody else plays B flat there.

  • We're all fortunate that Heifetz chose to make so many recordings, from his early youth to broadcast performances in his 70's. Microphones and cameras never bothered him in the slightest.

  • Absolutely beautiful! Thank you.

  • @everyone I played this piece and many notes were different in my score. But it doesn't matter, I like both versions. For the interpretation, I tend to prefer Perlman's wild stacatto passages that feel closer to the spirit of Spanish music.

  • @mirjamtp92 it's not a mistake, i have 3 versions of the sheet music and in one of them that b at 1:54 is with a natural sign in parentesis, like opcional interpretation! heifetz ALWAYS heared his recordings so it's pretty impossible that he make mistakes! sorry for my english

  • guao¡¡¡¡ es increible la calidad del sonido¡¡¡¡

  • amazing

  • What a BIG mistake at 1:54 !

  • @Mirjamtp92 oh man. he played a b natural instead of a b flat. i'm disappointed haha.

  • @Mirjamtp92 I pity your ears

  • This is THE PERFECT TEMPO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't always like some of Heifetz's stuff, but this is great! :)

  • DE FALLA AND HEIFETZ - BRAVO ;-)

  • is this one of the grade 8 pieces?

  • @xxcarlyxx yeah I played it for my grade .

  • Neveu as more spanish caracter. If you can put your hands on her recording of that dance along with an unbeatable Hora Staccato of her's ,you will be very lucky.

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!

  • Great, great!!!!!!

  • I will always buy Heifetz over any other..... impeccable rhythm without feeling rushed....... like the Perlman offering.... which I find kind of offensive.

  • no one is even close to the standard that Heifetz played at. He was truly the one of best violinists ever. EVER.

  • Heifetz the best

  • well put

  • menacing dance?

  • im playing this right now and god he plays everything with such ease. this is a hard piece for tha many transitions from spiccato to legato and intonation and tempo and everything. heifetz is the reincarnation of pagannini. no doubt.

  • esa nota es si bemol

    no es Natural .......1:53

  • fark yourself

  • what a prodigy he was. check out Paco de Lucia's version too.

  • sublime!

  • Eu amo heifetz

  • Interestingly, the most impressive part is the slower middle section. Nobody could caress a languid Spanish melody like Heifetz.

  • This is the best transcript, and performance I've heard. It is just the right balance.

  • Yeah he is playing the wrong note and it really stands out... Perhaps there was a typo in his music? Cuz everything he's playing almost totally perfect!!

  • That note is certainly wrong... But as you say it may be his version of that piece.

The worse in this domain is probably Emilio Pujol "rearrangement" of Falla's "homenaje". He did not like Falla's harmonic system, so he completely changed it. Fortunately Falla wrote the piano version (which is as close as you can get to a guitar score) himself, so we do have authentic Falla music restored.

  • sounds wrong.

  • You mean the b flat after the d? There's a trill on it, with a c natural as the trill. B flat with c trill. How is that wrong?

  • yeah im playing this piece at the moment. Ive got it from memory. Its so satisfying once you can play it. But its really quite difficult so its frustrating at first lol. Requires a lot of bow control and a well practised left hand. Great piece.

  • yup it's frustrating, i'm just starting the piece andi just can't get it right...anyway, i really like the way Heifetz plays stuff, but he kinda tends to go too fast. but he really played this beatifully, i just like it better when it's a little slower.

  • For slower and much better find a Fritz Kreisler recording. For white hot and great Spanish flair try Jacques Thibaud if you can find it. Thibaud's is better to me though Kreisler, who crafted this arrangement, is my favorite violinist.

  • thanks a lot, i love the videos! btw, Kreisler is my favorite violinist too! a lot of the pieces i played, are Kreisler. you have good taste =)

  • So beautiful it brings tears to my eyes

  • heifetz playing this piece.... what else can want?

  • where can i download this piece? =(

i cant find it on limewire or esnips...

what's the full name of the piece? and what's the composer's name?

  • It is "Spanish Dance " , by Manuel de Falla. I have done it too.If you give me an e-mail address I can send you the music score.

  • or 'Danse Espangole' if you would.

Some publishers have it under the spanish translation. Either way

  • @XxJupiterCrystalxX Manuel De Falla

  • This piece is great. Loads of difficult bowing technqiues though!

  • magic... best performance of it I've ever heard

  • @Whoever7458 Darn.. It really is magic = D

  • this video is the best, and thats couse heifetz!

  • De Falla was wonderful,as is de Heifetz!

  • Great stuff, you lucky buggers you bow players.

  • nice. thanks a lot ;P

  • i played this it was fun

  • Wonderful indeed!

  • the key to playing it is keeping your mind at one with your bow, use it as if its part of your body. i can't explain (like joachim, these feelings are intuitive) but keep the bow light and not too laboured.

  • yeh this piece is kool as pie :D

  • i mastered this piece when i was 7...fun piece to play.

  • Waw ! How old are you now and what kinda stuff r u playing ?

  • lol, i am 15, and i can play sibelius (2nd movement is my all time fav, esp played by heifetz)

  • I noticed how you grew from 15 to 19 in 2 months -- impressive. Would you please stop bragging? It's very transparent, and there is currently no way of verifying your claims.

  • Ah, I'm sorry. I clicked on MrBrightside's profile. Your bragging is still annoying though. :)

  • arrogant little shit

  • @aria099 I don't care about musicians who brag as long as they can back it up.

  • dyou wanna get a life you will never beat heros like heifetz no matter what. hes one of a kind. and its not how old you are that counts, i bet you think the harder the method is the better you are . well you are totally wrong. its the musicality.

  • and yet, your grammar and spelling is incredible. "Ive been playing paganani (paganini) concerto no. 1 when i was 7." its "I played paganini concerto no. 1 when i was 7" and...i doubt it, sweetie ;)
