I think you misunderstand what is going on here. They came all the way down the street with their plows down (as they do every year) and then when they got to the end the stopped plowing and tried to turn around. All three of these guys did it.
Finally a few hours later another guy came through, kept his plow down, and gracefully got to the end of the court and simply went around in a big circle with his plow down. They absolutely plow these roads, these guys were just dumb
getting stuck sucks, but over reacting and not thinking it threw wont help. When first stuck, sure the reverse can most times get you out. but always carry a shovel so you can dig your way out, and clear a small path to get you on the right track. remember that. it can always be good to carry that shovel.
You would think the truck was weighed down pretty good cuz the plow is heavy in the front and the rear is full of salt which isnt light. You would think they would get traction with the weight. Should have use the salt to get traction.
when the snow is that deep and you have such a light truck you must have momentum to start plowing or you sit and spin- if he had a v plow he might be able to start plowing at the low speed he was going and it pushes down on the front and adds weight to the front wheels.
It's so funny how everyone is the best driver sitting in front of a computer. Yeah, he should have put the plow down. The person talking about driving 70 mph on snow or ice is not very smart. Not saying it can,t be done, just that it is NOT safe. I grew up in VA 40 years worth. Anyone that knows what a Nor'easter is knows that 6'' per hour, in a strong one is likely. The northern tier of states get snow all the time. 6''-8'' here and there. When it snows here, we may get 1-2 feet +.
the most ive seen come down when i lived in northern wisconsin was about 14 inches an hour. so a little over a foot. im sure there are places that get 2 feet an hour. deffinitely in the mountains. and as long as the roads are plowed or the snow is packed a 4wd truck can go more then 70. but the guy in this video needs more practice. that prolly wouldnt have happened with chains.
@Awood179 a 4wd truck can go more then 70 in snow???? i sure hope you aint driving a 4wd cause your a danger on the road..... a 4wd doesnt break better or grip better to the road then a 4wd.... at 70 on packed snow you dont last 1 kilometer... seriously you dont make any sense....i
the pros (unless they drive it them selves) during an unexpected blizzard , will employ people that in the majority are youngsters out of work or going to school during day time. The employer has no choice because he signed contracts and he cannot get enough experienced people, let alone afford to pay their higher wages.North american areas with regular snow fall have more experienced people (from the age of 16 to the 60 tees).Virginia is like the Northwest...one never knows when it'll snow.
@outlawracer2229 and what happens when they hit a car or some nonsense plowing snow that they were not paid to? Your comment reminds me of people that think because we have 4wd trucks we can go 70 on the highway in the dead of winter. Ignorance
Considering that VA gets like 3 inches of snow a year and THAT is a state of Emergency for them (at least in Hampton Roads area) I'm not surprised at the Epic fail. They should try getting 2feet an hour like we get......
@85simplexity lol, yea you cant get 2 feet in a hour, easy.... probably just not were you live.... we have a record here who goes back in 03 37 inch of snow in less then a hour... so i guess YOU can shut up
@CedrikTheManiac00 No you don't have a record like that. I guarantee that no place on earth has gotten more than 12" in an hour. An inch per hour is average for a small storm. 2 would also be considered quite average, but for a larger storm. 4 is insane. Your talking visibilities at a 1/4 mile with NO WIND (almost imbossible with a storm this big). With 4 inches per hour, you have yourself a state of emergency, probably. 6 is very unlikely. If it persisted, there would be a state of disaster.
@crazyskier537 dude?? 6 inch a hour state of emergency?and i did made a mistake . i mistake inch and centimeter. ist 37 cm in a hour in 23 dec in 03..look it up im in canada in the saguenay.so 37 cm ist about 12 inch.4 inch a hour is 8-10 cm. ist a fucking joke we can get 40-50 cm in few hour sometime.....seriously this is not ohio buddy.american have problem trusting and understanding things that they never saw or live....lol come pass a winter here and youl see that a lilttle 4 inch aint shit
@85simplexity actually Its been recorded that some parts of lake erie, new your and michigan have all gotten at one time or another upto 24" in an hour period and even some skii resorts/mountians its not a constant thing, and it is a rarity, but it has and will again happen!
he definitely whacked that suv with his plow!
