I am 23 and only in the last year did I discover Miles Davis. The man has changed my entire perspective on music. He is now my favourite artist of all time, and I am sure he will be enjoyed for so many generations to come. "In A Silent Way" and "Bitches Brew" are my two most listened to CDs at the moment. Miles, I love you.
It was during a summer, and the sun had just gone down, so you can see a faint color in the sky of the sun getting engulfed into the evening. I was sitting on a lawn chair & my feet were touching the grass...I was looking up at they sky and thinking that I would never forget that moment - listening to this song & how beautiful that night was...
I like the rainy day association people have. I can see neon signs in New Orleans, clear at first, then blured by the windshield wipers. The signs, aglow, melt into the song. People are driving to no particular place. It's big city driving, in a beautiful city by the river. There are clubs, there are joints, there are places like Vaughn's that I can see through the smoke haze and see this trumpeter crying through his mouthpeice, into his trumpet and into your hearts. Life is good.
I dare not show this video to my family we lived forty years in Hermosa Beach, So of LAX. I retirered here in a desert paradise home of celebrities I can barely watch this video that is me with my children and grandchildren they loved the beach, we could walk to the shoreline. I live with my decision this is where I want to end it all, I am watching my life in this video sad joyful I'm misty eyed great memories always had this tune blaring throughout my home-even now always will Thanks
Thank you for the rate up's of my comment. I treasure the moment my little girl said to me "When are you gonna play the nice music Dad?" I don't know about critics etc but this will do for me as a testament to this track.
Beauty surrounds you from this introspective and brooding display of fine Jazz at it's finest.Perhaps one of the most stunningly pretty piano solos I love from Bill Evans.Every artist from Miles, John,Cannonball,Paul each grab the Art brush and collaborate to bring their love for Blue in Green
This is Miles and Bill Evans as One! There is also a covered version by Jean Carne. Lyrics by her former husband Doug Carn. They keep the same arrangement.
Yes, I've been feeling like this for about four days. I'll go out and try to catch a patch of blue sky in this grey ocean sky. Stay up for me peeps and mostly for yourselves.
It's so funny you say that because I pictured the same when i first heard it. lol and then maybe a 1940's black and white movie style detective monologue. "It was a cold night ....and it had just begun" ha ha
nothing tops this as far as being the mood with a Wine-light sky and crystal moon beams in the sky with a cool breeze along beach. I could go on for years.....love Bill Evans and Miles Davis collaborations.
Bill Evans' sound always gives me visions of crystal clear water falls... a meditation on the movement of water. This entire album was a perfect storm of exquisite beauty.
This is the sort of music, that feeds your soul, takes you away,to another place, far from the hustle, bustle and stress of life nice tune to wind down to thank you for this beautiful video.
gives me chills. everybody has there own thing with this song, but they all share this one kind of feeling, kind of blue, something about this tune everyone relates to
This is the best song to listen to after making love... Just so intimate and sensual...expressive, real. Lying in the dark... deep, reflective pillow talk about life, love, the nature of reality...as the rain patters against the window pane...
One of the most beautiful videos I've seen 'round here, and of course with one of the greatest piece of music ever written. That's Jazz. Thanks Paulhazel.
Beautiful, this reminds me of Buddhism, the way the sea destroys the castle, the movement of the clouds, the impermanence of everything, so beautiful, thank you so much
i think thats what makes this video really cool. The "director", shall we say, has envisioned a different setting for this song, one that makes most sense to them.
If you've ever read Miles Davis' autobiography, he jammed with Hendrix and his funeral was the last he ever went to. He had very high opinions of the man. Perfect that you quote one of his best songs in this video, especially when they soundly resemble the mood brought about by one of Miles' most lovely and nostalgic tunes :)
@BloggerMusicMan There's an old :30 Calvin Klein spot that I always loved that reminds me of this video. I could only find it one place on Youtube...WJW/CBS promos and local spots 10/1991 part 3"
It's 1:04 in on the reel and only lasts :30, but I think it's worth a look. I always saw it around Labor Day weekend, and it sort of wrapped up the summer with its' feel.
I heard this song for the first time at the age of 17 and I fell in love with it...never has a song made me feel so many different emotions at once. I am 26 and to this day, I listen to this song on a normal basis.
i may only be 16 but i know what real music is...i mean just listen its vibes it sends chills down my spin and gives my mind the peace that may just be one of the sweetest pleasures it may have ever known...i haven't heard this song in a while but im glad i found it again
The video is perfect for this. I always envisioned this track being the perfect soundtrack for being lazy on a day and just enjoying everything while watching other people be busy and worked too hard. Music that fits any kind of scene or weather, like this, is always the best
Rain drenched evening in 1962,wet bricks, hulking old buildings rising into the gloom above the streetlights.....skid row in Missoula,Montana....sitting just inside the open widow of a candlelit 4th floor apartment....this playing on the old Webcor....watching the rain.......
This song puts me at peace with the world. I start thinkin about all the wonderful things people do and the way they interact with eachother and how mother nature can be the most emotionally stimulating thing a man can have(no im not a hippee)Miles davis was a very unique man.~hence the unique piece of jazz ur listening to~Not alot of people understand exactly what his songs mean{what his stories tell}The people that did were either other musicians in his time or people studying those musicians.
respectfully, a rainy city street or cityscape at dusk would be the likely choice. I thought the grainy vhs quality beach footage was surprisingly moving. it takes me back to the days of Mr. Rogers when you'd see silent footage of people making things in a factory set to that good jazz piano.

Hermoso tema para escuchar, esta pieza es un poema de la sonoridad, como siempre, Miles consigue con su nota justa y el timbre exacto, atravesar la inmediatez de nuestros sentidos. Gracias por el legado de este gran músico.
OMG Thankyou soooooooooooooooooooo much for posting this song!! ive been trying to find out what it was called for years and im talkin about 10yrs now, i heard the first few seconds of it but didn know which miles davis track it was, ive jus been goin through some on youtube for the last few days on the off chance and now ive found it! 10yrs of searching over lol. its so sad, romantic, haunting and beautiful, you gotta love this song x
whenever i hear this song, i think of a man sitting alone at a bar, sipping away the loneliness. he hears this song and it's like miles is speaking to him; he feels that finally, someone else understands him.
the loneliness of existence, the ever-present discomfort, just under the surface, the lack of clarity of purpose. he's felt somewhat close to people, but it's never been enough, never truly satisfying. life is bittersweet.
i remember myself in san-sebastian many years ago. it was rainy rainy september after the film festival. i used to seat before the big window in one little seashore restaurant, looking on the rain drops endlessly going by the glass of the window.and the "blue in green" was playing...it hurts...
Pure perfection. The greatest piece of music ever composed and recorded featuring Coltrane's most beautiful solo ever. This is IT for me, my favourite piece of music of all time.
A lot of people don't know this but this song was cut in 1959 or 1958. Bill Evans on piano has his own solo of this particular tune. Miles Davis and Bill Evans catapulted the whole smooth jazz craze and era. Being that I played the sax growing up I hate contemporary jazz, I prefer the Stan Getz, The Monk, and the real heavyweights. Miles is my all time favorite Jazz musician, take nothing from it. But you gotta hear Bill Evans solo on the album Portraits In Jazz Bill Evans Trio - Riverside.

Every time I hear this Miles song. I realize. Life is tough. For everybody. No matter how down you feel. Miles reminds you.

whenever i hear this song, i think of a man sitting alone at a bar, sipping away the loneliness. he hears this song and it's like miles is speaking to him; he feels that finally, someone else understands him.
the loneliness of existence, the ever-present discomfort, just under the surface, the lack of clarity of purpose. he's felt somewhat close to people, but it's never been enough, never truly satisfying. life is bittersweet.

i remember myself in san-sebastian many years ago. it was rainy rainy september after the film festival. i used to seat before the big window in one little seashore restaurant, looking on the rain drops endlessly going by the glass of the window.and the "blue in green" was playing...it hurts...

I first heard this song when I was young...

Pure perfection. The greatest piece of music ever composed and recorded featuring Coltrane's most beautiful solo ever. This is IT for me, my favourite piece of music of all time.

I'll give that a listen to, Benny. I like Bill Evans' work anyway. thank's for the tip...
