@michaelpaulb Don't worry too much about pulling a few leaves off. This guy is being overly dramatic. Sure, the leaves do provide nutrients, not all though. The stems are still the most important part.
disagree, last two, three weeks , getting rid of the big fan leafs helps the bud I find. Last two, your flushing anyway, just water and a little molasses, they explode.
There is no reason for someone to argue with him, In order for a plant to get nutrients from the sun it needs the leaves, its the only way ANY sun is getting to the plant at all! Its called photosynthesis, read a book
Hi Jorge, and everyone else ive got a question. i am a first time grower and i think i got pretty good idea of how to get started. I got myself a 1 x 1 meter tent with 600w Mh for the growth and 600w HPS for flowering. i was planing to grow in soil (BioBizz Allmix) but im not sure what size container to use i can fit 6 x 20L in my tent but that wont leave alot of room in between the containers should i use a smaller one ? Any tips/advice is more than welcome. Have a nice day :)
@lovenleo I'd have 4 plants, start with 1gal pots then transplant to 3gal then just before flower 5gal.I'd flower them at 30-36 inches depending on the strain, sativa's a little shorter. Some triple in size!
IT'S VERY DIFFERENT GROWING OUTSIDE THEN INDOOR, WE ARE DOING INDOOR. PLANTS NEED TO BE PRUNED/TRIMMED IN ORDER FOR THE PLANT TO GET BUSHIER! SORRY FOR THE CAPITALS...
only idiot here is jorge.....in certain cases removing certain leaves will increase yields...its just a fact..simple science....sometimes old school growers get stuck on old school techneques ...just because hes grown alot and been magazines doesnt mean he knows everything nor does it make him a scientist....this is just his theory..FAR FROM FACT
only way you would get all the stored sugars in the leaves is if you harvest at plant death..ie the whole plant dies completely before you cut it. is that what you are saying..because otherwise not correct. Removing too many leaves obviously does slow the plant down but that is to the extreme and obviously stupid...takes away its efficiency. However thinning is very healthy for air circulation and light penetration directing plant energy + helps prevent insect infestation.
Are you guys kidding me... Everything he just explain is based on sinc what's inside a leaf what a leaf stores and provides for the entire plant.. how is he wrong? Just cause you shave your little pubes and it makes your little weeners look bigger it doesn't mean removing healthy leaves from a healthy plant is going to make your plants healthier or grow faster it's not the same thing keep your leaves pussy's growing bud is all about mimicking nature and growing healthy buds not manipulating
I disagree. Marijuana is not a very potent psychoactive in nature. It has ALREADY been manipulated to be more psychoactive and useful to us. Plants that grow naturally have a very low THC content, and likewise, putting high THC strains in nature an letting them fend for themselves, you will see a fast decline in THC levels. Mimicking nature keeps your plant healthy, but it's mostly breeding and nutrients that will yield good buds.
@dirtydinosaur1 I agree with what you are saying but the Marijuana plant naturally produces sticky THC to help catch the pollen distributed my males, and you will never see a grower with a male plant near their ladies. If you throw a male plant near your females and ensure that the ladies aren't pollinated they will naturally produce more THC to ensure pollination, we don't want them to pollinate but they will do whatever they can to, just a natural way of producing great buds.
It's not THC that catches pollen. It's the sticky resin of the plant which contains tons of chemicals besides THC. In the absence of a male plant, the plant will produce more resin, plain and simple... That doesn't automatically mean that the resin is rich in THC. THC might be nonexistent while the plant is very rich in other compounds... THC is not necessary for the plant in nature, and therefore, it will not produce it highly in nature.
@dirtydinosaur1 Other compounds meaning CBD's, or? I know growers who have been using the male in the middle of the room trick for years and have seen the results themselves, they always get much more potent yields when the females swell up.
@dirtydinosaur1 But at the end of the day as you said, like wise seen in mammals, selective breeding and other variables truly bring out the amazing strains we have seen today. Peace
@mrabuckten This dudes knowledge was elite for 10 years ago and beyond. A lot has changed since then. Our industry is now an exact science instead of a bunch of long haired hippies throwing seeds in the back 40. I have done side by side comparisons on 3 occasions to test the difference between thinning and not thinning. The end result is bulkier lower buds and about the same tops.
This guy is a joke ,he did not write any book,it was all co written but he takes credit!!!!hey for 1500 dollars Jorge will come to ur store and give everybody blow jobs!!!pretty cool ha
I'm glad I seen this, and it was by pure chance too. I'm in the middle of my first grow, and of course i started yanking some leaves off because i was worried the rest of the plant won't get enough light because of them.
IF YOU SMOKE DANK READ THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE. just uploaded a new video of my indoor organic grow, bomb chronic plants starting out go check my channel now.
does anyone know if it is possible to use natural sun light for 12 hours, 6am - 6om then move inside a growbox and do it for 12 hours during the night then put back out under the sun? will this work??
@groovieblue yes, its called Light Deprivation, however your plants may have an unwanted effect due to constantly moving its position. My Opinion would be to leave them outside in a type of green house (small, I have one thats 6x8) and then cover the entire greenhouse with a thick tarp. Be sure to have enough fans to circulate the air inside when covered because temps will rise. good luck!
THINK OF THE FAN LEAVES AS SOLAR PANNELS FOR THE PLANT, if everyone thought that way, no leave would be taken off unless its almost ready to fall of its self, not to mention that most of the plants food are in the fan leaves lol.
He's just kinda goofy that's all. Like to watch some of his grows like before. He's a awesome grower but remo doesn't upload grow videos like he used to. In one video he says remove some of the leaves to allow more light for penetration to the lower buds , then in this video he states to leave them on... Just how many leaves do you remove in order to allow more light to the center of the plant where there are more buds that are flowering?
What about when you growing indoors and say your growing bubba kush witch has a lot of massive fan leaves that cover other buds you shouldn't thin the leaves to allow more light to reach those shaded buds? also doesn't it help with air flow and through the plant??? I grow indoors and I grow alot of kush strains Og strains and chemdawg strains and I have always thinned the plant to allow for more light penetration Is what your saying only for out door growing since theres way way more light???
@Prodigygrower95 Indoor as well, keep the leaves on, tuck them under bud sites if necessary and spread out the branches if necessary. If your plants are too bushy and your air flow is that restricted then you should veg less, or spread them out and do other training methods... IMO anyway :)
I think people say to pull the leaves so that you don't attract botrytis or powdery mildew - but I have definitely met growers who have said that the fan leaves suck energy away from the buds - LOL
Finally...thank you jorge, so many misinformed people. @dantxxi It can work to your advantage indoors yes, however the fact still remains that your taking sugars that your plant uses to make the buds bigger. Believe it or not light does travel through leaves.
I think outdoor plants will benefit more from leaving them alone because of the suns movement. But what about indoor plants that only receive light from one position, my canopy was so dense, light couldn't penetrate more than two inches. I felt like I had to prune them, did I retard my plants?
@RICORECONREDO there are times when your plants need air annd light in the center to stop mold bugs and provide crtial light for center of the plant develpoment iv done side by sides ten times with different strains and they alwayys win when thinned over all weight and development I never go threw bloom withou thinnin its his oppinion not scientific proof because my proof says other wise peace
this also true for indoor indica plants as well, just recent i put it to the test and seen it first hand...similar in size but the buds were visually smaller
wait...you're telling me that people are actually dumb enough to pull off regular, non-dead leaves? what the fuck? did they not pass 7th grade? do they not know why a plant has leaves?
its one thing if its the very bottom stuff and you're growin indoor but other than that...
As for outdoors I agree, but for indoor growing there are many genetics that do particularly well after pulling leaves off, especially those bushy Indica's. So in real life application, pulling leaves could be more beneficial to your all around bud uniformity. Sacrifice 10% off the terminal buds weight to add 10% to each lower stem, in the end you'll probably get more.
leaves are power plants for photosynthesis and that's how plants make their food...not purely from minerals in the soil or fertilizers :) Right on Jorge!
I hate pulling leave's, but I'm doing an indoor scrog (in a tight space), and I actually had to clean out a lot of leave's. The canopy was so dence, I was starting to have some mold issue's (low 40's humidity), I do think the buds sufferd (slightly), but hey....sometime's you just got to do what ya got to do....
The leaves are what take the light you give it and turn that into energy for your plant to grow. The bud does not need light, the leaves need light. The more leaves you remove the more you are hurting your plants potential. HEALTHY LEAVES = BIGGER BUDS
f you pull the leaves off instead of topping the plant it produces a much busher plant. i dont recomed pulling leaves off durring budding stage either

wait...you're telling me that people are actually dumb enough to pull off regular, non-dead leaves? what the fuck? did they not pass 7th grade? do they not know why a plant has leaves?
its one thing if its the very bottom stuff and you're growin indoor but other than that...

This only regards healthy leaves or does the ones showing signs of nutrient deficiency could also stay until they hang dry in the plant?

what leaves that cover up colas..
Arperture2008 3 months ago
As for outdoors I agree, but for indoor growing there are many genetics that do particularly well after pulling leaves off, especially those bushy Indica's. So in real life application, pulling leaves could be more beneficial to your all around bud uniformity. Sacrifice 10% off the terminal buds weight to add 10% to each lower stem, in the end you'll probably get more.

@prince0427 i agree only for pruning the lower 1/3 when growing SOG or SCROG style

leaves are power plants for photosynthesis and that's how plants make their food...not purely from minerals in the soil or fertilizers :) Right on Jorge!

"your retarding the bud, thats weird!" hah!
Solingen1000 3 months ago
My leaves were causing ventilation problems and I had to remove a few to improve air flow. Fewer leaves beats mold growth.
Trichomes503 3 months ago
The plant doesnt absorb sun, the leaves do.
Solingen1000 3 months ago
Do not pull leaves....y'all hear?
kayanesta 3 months ago
@jorgecervantesmj I agree! Plus the leaves are the plants little solar panels!

I hate pulling leave's, but I'm doing an indoor scrog (in a tight space), and I actually had to clean out a lot of leave's. The canopy was so dence, I was starting to have some mold issue's (low 40's humidity), I do think the buds sufferd (slightly), but hey....sometime's you just got to do what ya got to do....
jbstar1973 3 months ago
yap and its caused many male bananas in ur bud .u need the leaf for the photosynthesis

The leaves are what take the light you give it and turn that into energy for your plant to grow. The bud does not need light, the leaves need light. The more leaves you remove the more you are hurting your plants potential. HEALTHY LEAVES = BIGGER BUDS
