  • My personal favourite Kubrick film.

  • Ryan O'Neal was just like this in real life. When his daughter Tatum got better reviews for her role in "The Bad News Bears" he congradulated her with a smack. Jealous asshole.

  • 3:47 that whole part Kubrick is holding the camera. Thats a good feeling.

  • 3:47 nothing beats a good ol punch in the back

  • Man Lord Bullingdon really got fucked over. He should have shot Barry in the face.

  • 3:02 The era of big hair classical.

  • this is why the english couldn't win the american revolution... the irishmen have better hand to hand combat skills than the british.

Great movie and Kubrick's unsung masterpiece.

  • I wouldn't describe this as a "fight"...more of a beat-down.

  • compare this fight scene to the one he had in the British army....a slightly different outcome, but they mirror perfectly.

  • Redmond Barry uses Kidney Punch. It's Super-Effective!

In all seriousness, this is one of many great scenes from one of Kubrick's best films. By far his most underrated film.

  • It all comes down to slippery floors.

  • One of my favoite Bach Pieces. Yes, they would probably not have been playing Bach. Even Handel would have been oldies music to them. They were already headed out of the Rococo and into the Classical era. Mozart would have been in his twenties at the time of this scene. The Paisiello opera was very appropriate in the Fench gambling scene. I imagine an accurate choice for the chamber music in this particular scene would have been Boccherini.

  • This is Bach. But at the time Bach was totally unknown in England and Ireland. Not historically correct. But Barry Lyndon is anywhay a fantastic masterpiece!

  • Barry is pathetic

  • Anyone know what peice this is?

  • @Abobojo

Concerto For Two Harpsichords And Orchestra In C-Minor: Adagio The soundtrack does not include this version where the flute was substituted for one of the harpsichords but does have a recording with the two harpsichords. It is available on MP3 download as well as on the CD soundtrack. I have the LP that I bought in the seventies as well as the CD and MP3. If you like Harpsichord and plucked strings of the violins you may also like the St John the Bapstist Cantata by Teleman.

  • @Uzzite I have always enjoyed Teleman. My favorite Baroque composer of course..Henry Purcell.

  • Ha! How many English Lords do you need to hold back an angry Irishman?

  • Man, Barry sure let his "ghetto-side" get the best of him in this scene.

  • I think Bullingdon is completely justified in this scene, I would have been pissed off too if my stepdad was such an asshole.

  • badass script

  • I don't care whether this is supposed to be funny or not, I think it showed up on the hilarious movie scenes playlist for a reason.

  • It's the scene where Barry blows it. He's looking for a title. He could have apologized to the gathering for his son's conduct, he could have calmly thanked Bullington for leaving and added he was welcome to meet him man to man to 'chastise' him if he so wanted. But to rush upon him and kidney-punch him like one of the lower servants would have...bad move. After that, the bluebloods started giving Barry the cold shoulder.

  • @heckles65 It just proved Bullingdon's point

  • 4:13 xD

  • One of my favourite scenes.

  • Lord Bullingdon is almost ready for his UFC debut.

  • Don't fuck with the Irish.

  • aaaaaaahahhahaha that was unexpected

  • i definatly thought this was the best scene in the movie. I liked Bullingdon a lot, he was a very intelligent child. Him in the Carriage with Reverand Rund was also a great scene.

  • all time favorite kubrick movie (and scene)

  • lawl @ 3:48

  • POWDERED WIG FIGHT!

  • I have an 18th century harpsichord by Pascal Tascin exactly like the one in this scene...a sublime passage of a Bach concerto

  • what a pity the British never had a revolution in the 18th century as the French fortunately did, it would have meant the extinction of Bullingdon's priggish ilk...

  • Bullingdon may have been a "prig" as you say, but I think he was completely right in this case.

Lyndon had been a complete dickhead to Bullingdon and his mother pretty much his entire life.

  • 4:14 lol looks like the have a new ice coated floor :P

  • this fight is so badass because you don't really expect it to happen in a period film.

  • So you're a kid...your mother is a widow...she marries someone else...and then your stepfather cheats on her and wants half of your inheritance...

  • What would have happened if Barry killed Bullingdon?

  • i just love how he waited until everything calmed down before he finally freaked out.

  • Kubrick: A visual poet

  • Peter (aka Bullingdon) had to know he was risking an old fashioned arse-whooping in doing what he did. He knew Redmond was nobody to play with.

Peter did manage to somewhat alienate Redmond from his snooty "friends," so it was really a win for him.

It was funny, though, watching Red whip his ass, espescially when the "Irish upstart" slammed his face into that woman's titties!

  • How's that for 'low' upbringing, ya snobby bastard? ;)

  • 3,50 LOL

  • Bullingdon comes back and gets his revenge later on!

  • poor guy hahaha i mean hey barry did turn into a douchebag

  • At 3:50 Boooooyah!!

  • Wow! I would have been pissed off to if I were in Barry's shoes.
