Drove from Chicago to S. C. playing this song. The video doesn't depict the song. If I were Making this video, the backdrop would be in the 70's some where in the south, definitely by a river, where people were being baptised by an old southern preacher.
If I were directing the video for this song, I would have chosen a pretty black girl in a big hat walking down a country road to the river, not a hoochie-momma on a city side walk. I adore the song. It reminds me of real black folks in a real time and place that we may have all experienced.
Love this song, first time seeing the video. Don't know if I like the video though. When I always heard it on the radio I pictured every thing in early years, something like the Color Purple. Seeing the video ruined everything. Totally different from what I imagined.
I am moved to tears everytime I hear this. I am uplifted and made "shiny and new". Thank you for this. This is a return to the river where Sam Cooke was "born by" and the change has come.
..you are definately not by yourself!!! this song is definately a testament for me!!! I love it!! It's very spirtual indeed. Breaks me down everytime!!
Noel Gourdin will be performing in NYC along with Elisabeth Withers and Comedian Gerald Kelly Thursday, Febuary 12, 2009 @ 8:00pm at Symphony Space Theatre on 2537 Broadway on 95th st. Tickets go on sell Dec. 12. Tickets prices $55-$65. VIP $100. Check His myspace page for more info.
I love this song too. It's the definition of soul from the lyrics, to the style, to the melody. I'm glad to see so many young artists harkening back to this old school feeling.
I agree with Beemer2k. The song is great! I have enjoyed it every since the first time I heard on the Steve Harvey Morning Show. I was expected the video to be a little more detailed of what went on in his hometown that made him want to leave there. Like show some fights or shootings or something. You know, not that graphic, but something to do with the song.
love the song, but the video has absolutely nothing to do with the lyrics. It looks like he picked a friend to shoot it. I expected to see a river more than once for 3 seconds. "Let me tell you about this place in the country called the river and this girl I left behind. I'll tell you while singing in a record store, alleyway, and city street corner. I'll also follow a girl around to get her number and pose in front of a tricked out Impala" Use your head!
This song gives me hope for RnB again. He sounds like a really soulful Tyrese. He's good for real. I couldn't care less about the video anyway. I never do lol
the video is kinda... but yea i sorta get it, like he's up north and he's thinking bout hiow he left his love and his family behind; and he finds his girl or w/e... n he goes back?? IDK
Wow this video was awful. Did anyone other than me expect to see umm a river, mississippi, or something other than up North? So not the picture I had in my head when I heard this on the radio. Who directed this piece of disappointment.
I Love love this song.... HATE THE VIDEO!!!! I rather listen to this song on the radio and have my own vision than to watch this video about some chic he is feining for....
yesterday i was Looking at the ad for the store Circuit city in the cd page they shown a picture of Noel Gourdin so its nice to know his first cd was released this past Tuesday on July 22,2008

*Found out about love in the back of my Impala
Where they laid my grandfather too? WTF does that mean? This dude can sing far too well for such an erratic, and asinine chorus.
