Is it safe to take medication like Synthroid even though your not sure you have Hypothyroid? I recently had a blood test done and it came back abnormal for the thyroid. My TSH level was 4.52 and my doctor says its not enough to say i have hypothyroid. But i believe i have a Underactive thyroid because I'm experiencing most of its symptoms and I've been feeling extremely fatigued lately both physically & mentally.What should I do? should I take Synthroid anyway?

med conference in May would definately say your numbers are high. Anything over 3 is above normal.

Any thing over 3 can cause problems.

Try a nautral thyroid replacement first, Then get a better endo doctor who has a open mind to perscribe a natural hm supplement . I recommend a book" living with thyroid disorders" ny #1 seller.

But yeah, all those symptoms are pretty bang on, with the weight gain, the dry skin, the cold (I still feel the cold easy) and having been on such a low does, I was also pretty slow, mentally. The reason why they make the diet pill reference is because it's hard not to view it as that. I've really noticed quite a result in my fat loss now that it's been 6 weeks. I don't have to exercise much and my diet isn't the greatest, but damn... I'm look'n good :)

I had a partial thyroidectomy followed by a total thyroidectomy a few months later when my tumor was found to be malignant. I was misprescribed 25 micrograms of Synthroid and when I saw my doctor again and the condition I was in, they bumped it up to 250 micrograms which is the highest dose made.
