@TheToxicSage Thanks for the positive feedback! It was shot in HD on the Canon 5D MKII in a Subal housing. If you liked this one, also check out Mark's other video "Freediving with Seals". he is currently working on some new and amazing footage, so we'll keep you posted! Or just look for "Mark van Coller" to see what he captures with his camera.
One of the most amazing nature videos I have ever watched for sure. Swarm intelligence showcased right there. Will there be a Sardine Run 2011? I hope so ;-))) Thanks for this awesome video.
Thanks so much. Unfortunately this year's sardine run was lousy to put it bluntly, compared to last year. But i will be out there in 2012 shooting stills and video, so hopefully 2012 is a better run!
@Themantagirl oh dear ;-( how come? I hope it wasn't related to the diminishing fish populations I keep hearing about on the news. I can't get over how cool this video is! I really like the part at 00:20 when the Gannets dive in looking like rockets and those little Sardines react really quickly to the pressure wave! It is almost like watching some kind of future warfare tactics with swarm robots on alien worlds.... but it's all here! Planet Earth is awesome. Also like 00:53 and 03:57
@ohsnapitsme59 Thanks! My wife chose the music, but just to let you know, it's definately not calm and graceful down there. It's a frenzy of activity and when the gannets hit the water it feels like a bomb exploding next to you! Glad you enjoyed! Let's hope this year is as exciting!
Most of it was filmed between the 28th June and 3rd July 2010. The big baitball was filmed on 2nd July. I only used natural light for the videos but used strobes/flashes for the photos all of it was shot with a 5DMkII and a 16-35mm.

Nice video, but the music was too hectic. I would have preferred something more graceful. But good job on the camera work!
