  • what about water coating?

  • how much does a system cost

  • if weight in grams is critical to the project, how does powder coating compare to spray paint?

  • what if the item has body filler?? like a resored front vespa mudguard?? do you have to reveal all the holes etc and can only powder paint un the bare metal ugly mudguard full of dents and pitting??? how can you then make it nice??

  • nice so if i just wanted for the powder coat look like flat black, or matte black?

cus i notice that after you baked it the part was shiny, i dont want it to shine,

  • @darkangelmnk . Just order the powder in the gloss level you wish. Flat, matte, semigloss, etc etc etc. Powders generally "are what they are" and the levels of pigment, gloss and basic things are set in the chmistry of them. There are exceptions ot every rule though ( mica flake in clear and so on). If you underbake the powder that is supposed to be shiny, it's not cured and therefore will not last long at all on your substrate.

  • @cunning99 thanks for the info

  • now do you fill it a 3rd of powder or do you mix it with anything?

  • so im guessing unless its suspended the suface touching the oven rack wont be powedercoated?

  • @Tynr13 That is correct

  • Could you use a heat gun instead of baking it? I am thinking for a bicycle that would be impossible to fit into an oven.

  • @thesheriff8306 You could use a heat lamp.. and in theory you could use a heat gun.. but the problem with the heat gun is you may not get broad enough heat coverage to cure the powder and might get inconsistent results. Heat lamps place over the entire part will heat the entire part enough to give a pretty uniform cure of the powder.

  • happy to be one of the thumbs down

  • What would be minimum heat to cure? I want to recolour aluminium, but don't want it to melt in my over if the temp is too high.

  • @175myles Most of our powders require 350-400 degrees Fahrenheit to cure properly. Aluminum parts will not melt when powder coating.

  • @175myles I would LOVE to know what kind of oven you have that has a maximum temperature of over 1220 degrees Fahrenheit. It would have been much more acceptable to ask if it is possible to powder coat Lead, and I find that to be a rather idiotic question.

  • @pablo26p, It was a regular on topic question. If you are too thick to read it properly, I asked what the "Minimum" heat required to cure powder coat was. Also this is coming from a person who does not work with metal or anything related to metal, so knowing the melting point of aluminium is unknown to me.

    You seriously do look retarded.

    Have a nice day.

  • why is paint better than powdercoat? one word... graphics...

  • can i apply the powder with a sponge and then heat it up with a high watt lightbulb held closely?

  • @thenande yep, that's how I done it

  • @Ulai777 Thanks for letting me know! :) Now I can go get some powder without worrying that I can't use them and ends up wasting my money! :)

  • so can you use like a regular house oven..?

  • @punkyjunkykid

a regular electric oven that is used exclusive for powdercoating and never used for food. you would put it in your garage or something like that.

  • so can anyone help me? i want to powder coat a motorcycle rim and spokes, but im wondering if powder coating will chip away from rocks or dirt or even the spokes moving? or when i change the tire with a metal tool? thanks

  • @colemwilson powder coating is very hard to chip, it wont just chip away, only if you realy try your best, rocks and dirt it will survive

  • Anyone have a oven I could use? ROFL

  • is i possible to powder coat, say 2 different colors on one item.. such as a rim? like chrome and black? if so how.

  • so easy a monkey can do it. untile he has to shoot candy.

  • Could I powder coat my dog, he'd look awesome in Candy Apple Red!?

  • i don't think my mom would like finding a car rim in her oven...

  • yeaa jesse

  • so um...what if the part doesnt fit in my oven lol...like a motorcycle frame...then what?

  • big heat lamps i think

  • can you powder coat plastic parts?

  • it would melt...

  • hmm that wouldn't be very convenient lol, can't believe I didn't realise that

  • nope

  • if they dont melt in the oven

  • Why dont auto manufacturers use this to paint cars?

  • europe definitely does, some are coming around to it.

  • I also found a really good site which tells you more about what kinda of stuff you can powder coat Best powder coating . c o m

  • This video was really helpful thank u so much

  • can you powder coat ceramics or glass or anything other than a thermoplastic?

  • You can powder cermaics as long as they have been pre-heated.

  • Can you powdercoat plastic?

  • Wouldn't it melt the plastic?

  • no you cant and yet another reason that powder coating is not always better than 2 pack paint

  • if it cant be put in an oven and cooked then it cant be coated

  • there's now a way to powdercoat plastic. i read somewhere u can now.

  • Using low temperature curing powder, you definately can.

  • can someone tell me exactly how the powder is ejected from the nozzle?

  • Air compressor.

  • actually powerdercoating can drip if too much poweder is on the piece. Usually on recoats which should be avoided or reblasted.

  • these guns SUCK

  • For the record - I bought one of eastwoods guns last year and the thing sucked! IMO - it wasnt even worth sending back for a refund! Junk! Powder wouldnt stick, it got tested and had almost no charge to it and every powder i got from clumped up too!

  • Great presentation but I think your audio and video are out of synch towards the end there. Check it out!

  • como se llama esa pistola? donde puedo conseguir? lima peru

  • hello, im looking to open a motorcycle shop where i would be powder coating parts on a commercial level. i see powder coating kit for hundred and others for thousands. I am not sure which direction to go. i don't have a bunch of money but i don't' want to have to repurchase item over and over again. Im looking to get the best for my money without being cheap and deliver a quality powder coating job

  • well it depends what you will be powder coating little parts that gun will be fine if you want to do large things like bull bars or things like that you will need a real gun an itw gema or a surecaot gun but booth are thousands the new gun i got at work cost 11 thousands

  • are you a powder coater..if so what kinda powder coat unit do you use...

  • yes im a powder coater i have been for nearly 2 years i use a norton encore or the basic norton depends on what job im doing. at my old job i used the iwt gema both are really good guns this little gun is a way for a company to try and get people to buy there products but all powder coating should be done by a real gun these give a very thin coat with a much lower anti scratch protection some products i spray could be droped with only minor scratches i would always says get done by pro

  • Do you mean Nordson? You've been powdercoating for two years and don't know the company name of the gun you use? lol

  • oh no i spelled it wrong oh no quick tell your friends maybe they might care cause i dont

  • Nordson and Norton are two completely different names... not a spelling error. You used the name twice in your post. Noob! I doubt you powder coat anything.

  • you are a retard i have powder coated things you would not be aloud to look at have been a head powder coater on a production i under stand you have look at a gun and think your an expert. GET THE FUCK OVER YOURSELF I DONT GIVE A FUCK IF I PUT THE WRONG FUCKING NAME IN

  • I'm a retard? You're the one who needs a grammar class. You use ZERO punctuation, understand is one word not two, and you call me a retard? ROFL Hey, I guess it just shows you don't need brains to powder coat. LOL Good work Einstein!!

  • i dont give a fuck if my grammar is shit i am now a supervisor where you a supervisor after being at a job 4 7 months.

  • Jesus don't people in Australia speak English? I'm sure the job qualifications weren't all that high if you're the supervisor.

  • HOLY RUN ON SENTENCE BATMAN!

  • is it possible to powder coat over something thats already been powder coated??

  • yea

  • yes..Lightly sand and spray again

  • why lightly sand ????

  • in order to repowder coat again you need to lighty sand making sure its perfectly smooth if you dont you will get a round looking dot and when its cures it looks crap

  • what causes these dots on the finished surface.....

  • well as you know the powder is charged the powder is charged and because the electricity cant escape its pushes back throught the powder and thats the dots and one thing i can recommend

when spraying a recoat is move the gun back about an extra 5 inches and spray i coat not quiet as thick as normal

  • do you ever find that rubbing the surface of already painted parts with cellulose thinners actually helps with the end finish.i have started to do this with already painted parts which have been rubbed down with scotch cloth the cleaned with cellulose thinners before painting.are there any problems to watch out for if powder coating over a wet spray paint.

  • I was considering Powdercoating out of my home, but was unsure of how hard it would be. This video set me straight as to how it can be done. Thanks for this usefull information.

  • it si very useful ,thanks very much.
