  • Very nice closeby CG you videotaped... from this nice beach--and beautiful thunderclap as well.... I would have said the same R-rated words had I ***missed*** my own taping of such awesome Tstorms that you got here. BTW..my 7/28/89-Tstorm..I got 2 very closeby CGs on video with nice thunderclap at night....that's my 7/28/89-Tstorm video...lotsa good thunderclaps...readily available on YouTube.

  • i felt scared just watching that... but very jealous i wasn't there.

  • Holy crap thats insane.

  • the first one i was like oh shiiiit!!! haha nice vid 5 ***

  • DAMN...that's all I can say.

  • i bet you got scared as fuck, i would have been.

  • out of all the lightning clips on youtube this is my fav. its fuckin intense and loud! haha lol

  • damn that was close as hell nice vid man

  • WOW! I think the lightning did not strike near the beachhouse but on the railing instead, a few feet from you, and then went to ground. Good thing you weren't outside holding onto that railing, eh?

  • It did not hit the railing at all times, it hit the beach near the water.. u were save at the time it struck..

Better watch out next time :)

  • ... take a second look and if you know anything about lightning it looks for the highest spot with a direct link to ground. What better link than metal? Not only did it strike once, but twice, and both times on that railing.

  • If the lightning struck on the railing the camera would have captured that, and second lightning does not change direction while it's striking..

The strike u think u see, is just a reflection of the camera, cause the camera cant keep up with the speed the lightning strikes -.-

  • Watch the video in slow-mo and you will see the lightning does strike the railing with two surges on the same bolt (two strikes). Where I live is the lightning capital of Canada and I have seen lightning strike up close before. It strikes just like in this video-within a small area but with a powerful punch. The ground actually serves like a catcher's glove so as to draw the lightning first. Again, nothing better than protruding metal above a flat beach that is linked directly to ground.

  • ... so not only do we see a seemingly sole hit on the water's edge at the shoreline, we see the lightning fork over to the railing with two surges. If you can watch this video in slow-mo mode, the forking process is quite visible.

  • ... this shows lightning can change direction to more favourable ground. As well, listen closely to the audio and you will faintly hear the railing clang, during and after the strike. This was a powerful discharge.

  • @windsorwindow Your absolutely right... good eye! I remember watching this vid when it was first posted, and I missed it. It forks off in two, very common with most strikes. That dude was lucky.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • holy smokes

  • Did you go and dig up the fulgurite after the storm?

  • @bamaslamma1003 id go out right after to see if there was any good call

  • @bamaslamma1003 the what..?

  • @AnOddMusician The fulgurite. When lightning strikes sand, it melts the sand into a glassy rod called a fulgurite.

  • or like something tearing or wind going through something

  • dude it struk like 3 times and it sounded like something other than thunder it was like a hiss or whip kinda sound

  • I love storms and that was the closest lightning I've ever seen. I betcha the sound was insane from that close.

  • Judging by the "Oh my fucking god" im guessing it was :)

  • Thats was awesome!!

  • LMAO. i would seriously shit bricks

  • As you said Oh my fucking god D:

  • OMG

I WOULD BE SO SCARED ID DIE

    But thats just me

  • I believe that lightning should be called Ultra Sparks or something, think of it, there are literally HUGGGGEEEE sparks on multi-mile scales. When you see a little spark, it goes zziitt!!, Like in this video LOL the result is basically what a gigantic spark is, LMAO the guy almost drops the kids off at the pool hah. he didn't knw what to do hahaha

  • dang....

  • Holy hell that was awesome!!!! Did any sand turn to glass?

  • i fuckin hate the loud thunder

  • Let's go swimming!

  • That's happened twice this summer to me.

I had the same reaction except I was right outside the door grabbing a chair to bring it in. hahaha.

Cool to find a video so similar.

  • this video is awsome

  • holy shit im so glad i live in ireland where there isnt no crazy ass fork lightning

  • crazy ass fork lightning is the shit! I smoke a joint and listen to the thunder, its relaxing actually.

  • shit dude i'd be needing more than a joint to relax with that shit, give me a couple of bongs and a valium then maybe id be relaxed. lol
