What the freak is that fool talking about. "you won't say it to a mexican"..what a bunch of illegals. I would not only say but I would spell it out in small words for you to understand. What a clown. Go back to where you belong, in the gutters of your mexico.
I'm glad they made this film. Many ppl from the Latino community are very reserved when it comes to homosexuality. Like they said, as long as its not your kid, it's cool. I disagree. I'm mexican and I really would like for family members to check this out.
Really, where did you grow up? Obviously not in the same Mission I did, what the freak is this all about. Some gay agenda. Pratt, have you ever even heard of SFM, Little Park, Hampshire Boys, 22nd Hogs, Tiny Locas, Garfield Park, La Raza Park? You could not have Paid me to be in such a weak Portrayal of my hood. I would have ran you and your extras out of town and back to L.A.
Hey I saw that one of the comentators knew the name of one of the songs in La Mission. But any chance do you know the name and the artist for the Hindi music playing when Jessie goes to see the Afro-American lady and is told that the Hindi goddess Kali is sort of like Virgin Mary in that scene he is returning a plate and she also offers him a cup of tea. Thanks I would really appreciate it if you could tell me. My email is a25dxz@hotmail.com thanks!!

...I grew up in the mission district born and raised I’m very lucky to have survived it. I’m a proud Mexican American the youngest of 8, my oldest brother frank went to Mission high with Carlos Santana. Mission st @ 24th street was fun cruising around when you were 15 with a drivers permit and your first car was a blue bomb 2 door coupe, La Mission @ 24th street in the 80’s was so packed on cruise nights that the cops ordered to shut it down. Later the city posted no cruising signs
My name is Joe Minjares. I own a small single screen theater in South Minneapolis. I watched this film and then watched this interview. This film is everything that they wanted it to be. It is a gem and I see a....lot of films. I stand in the lobby and talk to the people who have just viewed the film and everyone, White, Black, Red, Yellow and yes even Brown, are moved to tears and are fullfilled. Thank you for making this film.
WOW! This films looks great cant wait to watch it! It looks real and touching on a crucial modern time issue its brave for its storyline......Cant wait to see it!!!
Hell yeah Paco and Cruzito are back that's what I'm more interested in where is Miclo at though!? haha good shit I like these actors so yeah that's dope to do a movie like this
I am from AZ and have been to San Francisco 4 times, the last time lived there for three mons. The city is,has and will always be more liberal then Phoenix and AZ will ever be. I grew up queer, a white guy who has been into low riding since the 70's and who grew up in a Mexican gang neighbor hood and had to fight a lot of Chicanos and Whites because I was white and into low riders and listened to oldies. I would have given anything to have lived there in the "70"s and "80"s.
la mission san fran lords little time mission san fran mision thats my hood and the where alot of real things in that movie very good with explaining mexica culture and the guadelupe being tonatzin of the aztec mexica is mexico in nahuatl language meztli is the moon and xica is the umbilical or navel it has to do with the people umbilicalto the moon . mexica tiahui all my relations aho
I'm Native Chicagoan but, I lived in the Mission area in SF back in the early 80's......I love SF, Great city and so diverse. I wish this movie was here in Chicago already but, guess we have to wait.
Why people so offended when people say SF is gay? yall live there so yal should kno for yo selves that is not, dont try n prove shit to anyone. fuk them. i just watched the movie and I like how they really showed how the bay area is "diverse". because if it would of been an LA film (so cal) it would of been all mexicans in it. not to hate but everyone knows that LA mexicans are racist towards other races specially blacks and they make the rest of us mexicans look bad. NOT THE BAY. belive it.
why does he have to be in love with a tinta ?? wow theres plenty of beautiful Latinas shitty story line saw it last night , he was crying at the tintas door OMG what a wus
@niggerbitchhify Really? r u trying to be racist about this? Are u latino? I'm from NYC HARLEM. Latinos and Blacks lived right next door to each other. worked, played, married had babies together. Beautiful story and U missed the WHOLE POINT!!! I pity u, YOU WILL NEVER BE ANYTHING IN LIFE. I know in CALI the 2 don't mix but get over it We HAVE A BLACK PRESIDENT. SMH SO SAD.
@msknighttime oh stfu, he's half black. & who are you to tell anyone they will never amount to anything? are you god? no you're just a fat bitch with a big opinion. SIT THE FUCK DOWN!!
i used to go out to parties and stand around cause i was too nervous to really get down but my body yearned to be free i got up on the floor boooy so somebody could choose me..what yal know bout that song??? thats my shiiiit!..im bout to watch this movie this weekend!.
I just saw this movie last night in West Covina AMC though I'm not sure where I stand on homosexuality I loved this movie. I you wanted to affect someonesoul you did. LOVED the refletion shot of the son & the bombs cruising The music OMG where can I get it. The discussion about praying for the son to just live tears fell I gave birth to a sick child. THIS FILM IS Agape LOVE To LOVE unconditional. Mistakes are made but within time you can find family. Thank You for all your hard work
The conversation below about how to "easily avoid" the Castro, where "almost all of them live" is exactly why the movie includes that theme. Stop hating! The movie is about REAL LIFE and in REAL LIFE lots of folks are GAY. And if you can't deal with that, you better go dig a hole and lie down and stay there!
That gangsta bullsh** is stereotypical and predictable and SO tired - you need to wake up in now in 2010 and DEAL with people as they are. You ESPECIALLY need to get the message. See to it.
I disagree with some posters analysis of the film. Yes, San Francisco has a gay community BUT the media tend to focus on WHITE GAY PEOPLE. In this movie La Mission the focus is on a Latino gay man and that's rare in a Hollywood film.
The issue of homosexuality and masculinity in communities of colour are serious.
This movie is very deep and why are people trying to ignore the issue of homosexuality in Latino culture? The movie seems powerful. I think people should give the movie a chance.
@JordanjamesX Quinceañera is the Southern California counterpart to La Mission. This movie gives the same SF stereotype, its not about gay people. Its about stereotypes. Not everyone in SF is gay. Spike Lee's Sucker Free was a better movie though even that was a little bit inaccurate. The White kid and his family moved out of the Mission to the Point, because the Mission was getting expensive. Though its really the Latino's that are being pushed out, not whites like it should in the movie.
@geedup415 yeah its pretty whack. Only 10% of San Francisco is gay, and almost all of them live in the castro district, which is easily avoidable. But movies like this are the reason why many people think San Francisco is mostly gay. And when u tell them its not, they think its 40% gay. Now I dont hate gay people, but that steriotype is by far the most annoying one.
@geedup415 Im born and raised in San Fran 30 th to be exact...... I am so sick and tired of outsiders sayin frisco is GAY now they put a movie out about it damm ..... wtf they hella needed a different story line.. like how the yuppie moved in and bought property in the Mision and drove alot of Latinos out........... theres other shit they could of wrote about...........
@geedup415 I been talking to my girls 2 of them were in the movie, they told me that B.Bratts brother is GAY, and he wrote the storylilne, so go figure,...b.bratt trieng to promote his brother help get famous, well hes doing that on our rep... wow thanks for nothing now defending our city just got that much harder .......
@Greexicana I heard that too. You're right, at our city's expense he's adding gas to the flames surrounding the "gay" issue. I hate it when people on my PS3 ask me what 415 is and when I tell them it's the area code of my city "San Francisco" they all ask me "Is it really a gay city?" I just wanna choke em and show em how we do it in San Fran....LOL!!!!! For reals though!!!!

And proud to say they did it extremely professional, just like Hollywood would do, but would like to know where they got the funding.
