  • There is a new gangster movie coming out set in the 50's&60's and the 3801 introduces the opening sequence.

  • @RomanPraetorian

what is the title of this movie?

  • How is the work going on this engine?

  • i saw 3801 a couple of days ago at thirlmere rtm, looks pretty bad atm, cant wait till she gets back on the rails.

  • any one know when her overhaul be finished

  • it will be back and running in about 2010

  • good to hear.

  • More great stuff from your camera, Richard! :-D Do you have a clip from 2/3/08 of 3642 climbing the grade from the 00:37 mark in this clip? I was there this year and took a video clip, but 200 mb is too much to upload, un-compressed.

  • 3801 is AWESOME!! i hope it gets bak on ze traks!!

  • 3642 will be a good sight to see for the Festival of Steam Next Year in March.

  • sounds great under load thank you

  • With those silver tyres on the engines wheels all of those come South Africa annd was shipped to Queensland and the 3801 engine goes all the way to Queensland to get those fitted which is the only state to have the biggest railway crane to lift a 38 engine to put the tyres on the wheels.

A NSWRTM member told me and my dad about since 3801's Display day at the NSWRTM sidings.

  • 3801 itself did not go to Qld. Only the driving wheels went up there. The engine itself remained in Sydney.

  • risky we live not to far from thirlmere and was wondering whats happening with the Great 3801, havent heard her pulling into our local station in awhile, is she being fixed?

  • Yes, 3801 having work done to it, but may not see her in 2008.

  • Great video and bloody Amazing!!!!!! I went on it at steamfest.

    Thanks

  • You know Richard that is great camera work you did

  • What's the top speed for this locomotive?

I've only seen a few clips of it going resonably fast, but not very fast.

  • Officially 120km/h, but has been know to go a fair bit faster.

  • whats that in mph?

  • Beautiful streamline steam survivor in Australia. Thank you for sharing.

  • haha fair enuf, just looked a little convenient thats all...just good luck then! very spectacular anyway!!!

  • Nice video, but i must say reckon the wheelslip on the loop line was pretty convinient where it happened right next to the cameraman????

  • Pitty I didn't know it was going to happen. Would have pointed to camera at the wheels otherwise. Got 3801 & 3830 there the next day & made sure I followed 01's wheels, but it didn't slip... 3830 did!!!

  • Richard, nice filming

  • Brilliant! Where is this line? Assuredly not in the English Lake District, which also has a Thirlmere!

  • No, not England. All the shots in this sequence were taken within 90Km south of Sydney, New South Wales Australia, on or near the main line that runs to Melbourne, Victoria. The single track shots were taken on the Thirlmere Loop Line that runs between Picton and Mittagong, in the vicinity of the Rail Transport Museum's site at Thirlmere, where the first Steam Festival of 2007 was being run.

  • Glad you told me, I thought it must be in the US somewhere!

  • All my videos have location and date included in the information, but this seems to be missing from public display on the YouTube page.

  • Mate, it's sure not the U.S.A That's for sure.

Love the Clip RiskyWhit, fine job mate
