What do the Chinese or Cubans care about protecting the environmentally sensitive coastline of the Florida Keys? There are many justifications for drilling offshore Florida, but because China or Cuba is supposedly wanting to do it is not a valid justification. Would you jump off a bridge just because I jumped off a bridge? Only if you're an idiot.

Exactly. Even if increasing the world's oil supply is your only only concern, you should be happy China is able to exploit this resource in Cuba. If the Chinese open new oil fields, they'll buy less from the world's market. In fact, extra oil from Cuba might make Florida drilling less "essential".
