  • I probably will never be able to go there but I was SO INTRIGUED with the Flameless candles they created for the "Luminara" line of candles that look like REAL candles burning!! I'd like to get in touch with them & ask them to create gorgeous tapers to use on a dinner table that come with or without crystal candle holders in cream, red & green to add to that line that they have done so magnificently!! Wonderful minds. I hope they show the "Haunted Mansion" on TV for those who will never make

  • @thecopykidofthestarz I'm not sure if he got the Disney legend award yet...

  • @weckar to us!, I wasn't aware of such an award.

  • 1:19

    ooooo! O w O

  • seems like leota is a peppers ghost as well..the question is how do they get the effect in that little ball? O_o

  • shes not a peppers ghost....

  • @mdmleotaswallghost yeah, they project a video of her on a mould of a head in the glass ball.

  • @LinkHot21 No, it's an inside projection.

  • One thing I have yet to see---I've seen still photos, but no video footage anywhere---of the actual room where the ballroom ghost animatronics are!

  • @ctdsnark From the looks of it they are projected from under where the doombuggies go through.

  • @adventuresofcandk They are not projected, Its a Pepper's ghost illusion, in which animatronics figures are stationed under and above your doombuggy (not visible) facing a large piece of glass (the size of the whole room so it looks like there is nothing there). when the animatronics are lit you see their reflection, giving the illusion that they are ghosts.

  • I have walked the haunted mansion track several times in my life. Something I have wanted to do since I was a little girl. To see the effects up close and personal was stunning! I even shared a ball room dance with my boyfriend and the haunted mansion ghosts. Truly one of the greatest rides of all time.

  • omg this is more better then the haunted house in universal studios!!! IT SCARED ME SO MUCH I WANTED TO KILL ME SELF!!!! I HATED THE CHUCKY ROOM !!!!

  • lol i hate the beginging part with that room but then i love love the ride!!!! i like the sign at the end! lol

  • Those gargoyles in the elevator still scare the fuckin shit out of me.

  • @KingConservative me too!!

  • What's really funny about the Pepper's Ghost trick in the ballroom, is the Imagineers must have forgotten that by using that trick the images are going to be seen backwards by the guests. Which is why the dacing ghosts are incorrect with the ladies leading the men.

  • at disneyland, do they still have the man playing the oregon, i go 2+ times a year, but i never remember

  • ya they do

  • My cousins and I rode this ride for the first time in 1972. My dad scared me so bad I still remember it! We were laughing so much when we got off. Thanks fopr sharing the video.

  • ......GRRR..... i want to know i dont want 'we use real ghosts" I WANT THE REAL ANSWER!!! i hate them.

  • It's Pepper's Ghosts. It's been aroundsince the mid 19th century. The ghosts are actually above and below you, and you see their semi-transparent reflections on a piece of glass, which is positioned so as to appear that the ghosts are in the room.

  • ? what??

  • Think of driving at night and you turn on a light inside the car, you see your reflection in the window/windshield.

  • The ghosts are above and below ypu. You are on a balcony. A piece of glass in in front of you, Lights are shown on the pastel-colored ghosts. the light colored ghosts reflect into the mirror, which is positioned so the ghosts, from your POV, are in the room.

  • Nope. It's much simpler than that.

  • Go to wikipedia and search for PEPPER'S GHOST... that's what they use in the ballroom scene...

The next time you ride the Haunted Mansion, look closely, and you'll se a huge Glass running from floor to ceiling, and that's where all the reflections from the animatronics are projected...

  • same thing with tower of terror, the ghosts in the hallway. you can see the mirror line in the hallway to make it seem the hallway is longer than it really is.

  • I did a science project on the effect used in the ballroom (Pepper's Ghost), just cuz I wanted to connect it to Disney!

  • I did an art project using a pepper's ghost for the same reason, haha!

  • its a video project6ed onto the inside of a face shape made of somthing sleightly see through.

  • i love the haunted mansion but last time i was in there they didnt have those buggy things lol

  • really? They never remove them

  • i went like 6 years ago and it was in cali

  • You must have just imagined it or something... how old were you at that time?

  • lol well you must be VERY OLDbecuz when they tested it in the early 60's it was a walkthrough but when they opened it in 1968 they have had the doom buggies ever since....u may be just like me cuz i forgot ibout the transportation thingy in pirates of the carribean lol

  • The head in the ball is just a white head inside the ball and a projection up on the head.

  • yep, but when they made this, they defuncted it so it was a rear projection on ab opaqe head, but now it's back to the original

  • Wow that was really lame...good thing I already knew how those effects worked anyway.

  • thats a load of BS!! He did REVEAL ANYthing!!

  • Ah, but that's part of the magic.

  • Tyhe ballroom is a very old relfection effect used for making ghosts in stage productions in the 19th century. It inloves a mirror image scene on teh other side and a reflection in a huge pieec of glass. It's called Pepper's ghost. It was often used in stage productions of a Christmas Carol years ago. Madame Leota is a front projected image ont a blank bust inside of a non-reflective ball. The singing busts also use front projection.

  • you are wrong i used to work there one day i snuck in while working in there and when i looked at the haed it was not in the ball hte ride was active but the ride was off and lights were on!

  • accualy WaltDisneyLegacy is correct... so obviously you havent seen it with lights on

  • Yeah next time you ride on the ride, hold up your cell phone light and you can see the mirror reflection of your phone

  • Oh I did that and i got in trouble. But it was cool.

  • haha really? how did you get in trouble? what they do ?

  • They really didn't do anything bad to me. They just gave me a stern talking to and I wasnt allowed to ride it again for the next hour.

  • Wait, what did you do?

  • what was the name of this show?

  • " Funhouse" it was a special on the history of the dark ride from 1997 on discovery channel
