suggestion: get an other case + a better CPU cooler, because from what i see you've just got a heat sink with 2 fans mounted on it. i've got a aerocool VX-9 pro and it's cooling very nice (con: cable management) i've got a OC of 3.8 GHz at an idle 40°C and a full load of 80°C (which it's at pretty much 24/7 because i run BOINC on it. i've got 1 Ati HD5830 card on there which gets around 70°C at gaming (55°C idle) which isn't too bad and it can handle everything so far. +-16.500 on 3DMark06
Try running less fans. More is not better. You might wanna put on the side door and mount an intake exhast fan on there. The temps are not that bad. My 9800gx2 and my 295qsli idles at about that temp. There made to do 85c to 95c under load. Less fans and bigger fans are they wat to go.
@37474748 very true, but in this cosmos case its got very poor intake, i tried putting the side panel on, and took out some fans, and made them intake air and exhast it, but it just didn't do a great job at either or(intake or exhast). because the 8800gt single slot coolers don't have duel slot to exhuast the heat out the back, it just sits in the case, and rises up to the NB, and cpu, and ram, so they all start to overheat.
@m41c0ml1n3 try even out the intakes and exhausts. Make fans in the rear exhaust hot air. And front intake. Remember fans at the bottom of the computers are intakes. Sens heat rises.
I had the same cards as you... its XFX you got also? i had the same cooler on my xfx 8800gt cards. they idle at about 45c. So something is wrong there. i think all the fans are messing you up really.
Those GPU idle temperatures don't look very good...do you have those fans set to 100% speed? I guess that's where whining noise is coming from. If looking for aftermarket cooling you should take a look at the Thermalright T-Rad2 cooler.
I did a few cooling mods to my 780i, so in case you want to check that out you may preview it on my channel page.
PS: The Fermi's will run just as hot as those 8800GT's as far as I've seen.
@soma1509 yea, got them both running at 70% fan speed 24/7. btw i know the fermi's get hot also, but no were near as much as 100C load. i just wish i would of got the 8800gts 512mb with the duel slot coolers, then i could for a fact keep those temps down, curse these single slot coolers.
