You can tell the difference by just listening to the music and by looking to see what notes are played most often. For instance, when looking at what chords are being played, I don't think a G major chord was played once. Hope that helps!

What program is this guy using?

I didn't create it, but I downloaded the midi file, and the program I am using to show the the music in piano role form is Synthesia. It is a free demo, but I you can buy it. It doesn't compose music I don't think (at least not in the free version), it is like dance dance revolution or more like a piano hero (like guitar hero), one can practice piano skills with it.
