  • takako uehara!

    anpanman!

  • Michael Gray sounds like he's completely shitfaced. He can't even taste the difference. WHOO HOO, KEEP 'EM COMIN'!!

  • SUCK IT PBR!

  • @ijackofftoanime You got that right!

  • 1:32

  • This sucks more than a 2 dollar whore!

  • That guy typing looked like he was farting lol

  • 9/11 was an inside job, also notice all the great people in society are murdered, wonder why Reagan was still alive.

  • Wow. It's a bad sign when you're kicked out of the Nazi party for speaking too much violence.

  • Indeed. I was quite surprised to hear that as well. When the Nazis won't take you, you've got few options left.

  • 0:55

  • Who thinks Michael Gray is still alive??

  • The guy thought nothing tasted better than PBR? Seriously?!

  • "WCCO the northwest's leading news station..."

    WTF?

  • @Mylitla Prior to the era of manifest destiny...the Midwest WAS the Northwest.

  • @raymieX

    Yeah, circa 1840...

  • I'm just waiting for the zombies to take over.

  • I didn't know that Target had stores back then..I was born in 82

  • I was born in 1975. I started to go to Target back in 1981 when my family moved to Minnesota. Even then I knew Target was a better store then Big K Kmart back then. Target was establihed in 1962.

  • haha wow, this is so old! Everything that happened before I was born is old btw ;-)

  • Yeah I was six years old at that time. I remeber when Regan was almost assinated.

  • Pabst and Blatz Beer

    Those were the days

  • Why?

Because I like drinking Pabst and Blatz Beer?

    Sorry

  • @gjs78 Signed affidavit on file... serious business!

  • Wow, I must have seen this a million times growing up, and just now realized that the basketball game shown in the opening is at New Ulm Senior High School before they remodeled. Any New Ulmers figure that out too?

  • LOL this is before I was even born haha. Don Shelby...wow

  • HA HA HA HA HA.... I was a seventh grader, so there... Was in a National School Assembly at the time Reagan was shot.

  • I miss the early 80's.

  • Wow! I can't believe somebody found video of me wearing my baby-blue "The Best" t-shirt!

  • Is that Roger Lodge in the Big Sale Target commercial?

  • jeepers the 80's were creepy! but whatever, I worship at the alter of Don.

  • Don Shelby has been a newsman for wcco since 1978 thats ubelievable most anchors usually leave after 5 years.

  • "everybody s/have this test"...lol...

  • Does anyone have a copy of the WCCO Christmas specials with Dave Moore as the postman? One Who Stole at Christmas, The Gift of the Magi, etc.? Haven't seen this in 20 years!

  • If you EVER find a copy of that, please let me know. I've contacted WCCO a few times, but to no avail...

  • What have they told you when you contacted them?

  • they couldn't just dig it up...I'm watching the WCCO channel listings, and hoping my sister can tape it for me.

I just posted a WCCO video on my page.

I have a couple of newscasts on tape.

  • This video shows how far we've fallen...Notice how well-written the stories are! And they present 2 sides of point of view on gun control, not what they do these days, is it? In this example, it's not about jamming sensationalism! And Don's voice is laced with a two-pack a day smoking habit.

  • yea, but look at the beginning of the news where the guy is typing with just two fingers.

  • Ha ha, so true! That's Dave Moore's son.

"What did you prove to yourself today? That I like Blatz." Love that old-school sales closing...

  • And that guy was such a drunk he didn't know what his favorite beer tastes like. haha

  • Hey, and is that first guy even reading? At first I thought this was a joke.

  • His name was Doug Moore but he was not related to Dave Moore.

  • Target was around back in 1981?

  • Target has been in Minnesota since 1962.

  • @trev17ian I recall Target ads in 1976 when we lived in Virginia, just outside of Hibbing.

  • Anyone got a video of the opening when they moved to the new WCCO communication center? Not the ones on here, but the ones right after they moved. Great stuff..

  • Look at how Chappaquiddick Ted jumps to turn this into a debate about gun control. What a piece of garbage.

  • Real clever, Rush Limbaugh teach you that one?

  • Either way its true, and I like it.

  • Har har har, you're funny, moron! If it were a conservative who drove Mary Jo Kopechene to her death, you know for sure he would have been cruicified in the court of public opinion, forced to resign, and possibly thrown in jail! Only because the country was feeling so sorry for the Kennedys did Uncle Ted get off. WAAAA!

  • OMG look at lil' Don Shelby! He's so young.

  • I did not even realize that was Don Shelby until they showed in name on the screen. So young

  • THis is the news channel we watch! It's just hilarious! I was 1 1/2 when this broadcast aired!!

  • i was -9 back then

  • same here.... i remember my 3rd grade teacher ranting about how she "just knew something like this would happen"

  • This is fucking great!

  • I mean 26 years later

  • 16 years later and Shelby's still there! DFL-Don

  • I assume you listen to Jason Lewis...

  • Why do you assume that?

  • Because that's Lewis' cutesie little nick name for Shelby.

  • Michael Gray looks and sounds like he's already plowed...

  • I think Target still sells those same t-shirts!

  • The Target commecial was something, but seeing Don Selby and Pat Moore so young was way cool, also the stories of the day like Reagan and stuff, where is the footage of Buckwheat beaing shot?? SNL circa 1983 (I think)

  • The music on that Target ad was used for the theme music of WNEW-TV's "Big Apple Movie" in the early 1980's. Wonder from which music library it originated, though, and who wrote it.

  • I also remember the assination attempt. Skull and Bones, anyone???

  • Blatz rules. So does this commercial. I've been to Milwaukee, I ought to know!

  • Wow. That Blatz beer ad was wild! You never see PBR or Blatz ads on TV anymore. Shame. Love these vintage news clips!

  • Wow, that guy thinks Blatz is EVEN BETTER than Pabst! Astonishing!

  • WCCO is the best. I watch it every night. They are so great. I love their commercials. They know how to deliver the news very well.

  • My favorite news channel back when I was living in the Twin Cities. I used to love this channel.

  • I remember the shows at that time, the openings were great indeed! Newscasts were so much simpler and more informative back then.

  • 2 bucks for t-shirts. Inflation sucks!!

  • Why dont they have cool news themes like that anymore. And remember the camereras? The lights used to trail, especially if the reporter was wearing a gold watch.

  • Exactly. This was long before high-definition cameras were developed; before then, the lights trailed a lot on camera.

  • Those cameras were cool

  • INCREDIBLE! That's all I can say.

  • A double bless you for this posting--please post more!!

  • I was in 1st grade living in Brooklyn Park.

  • Thanks for the old clip. I remeber the day when Prez was shot.
