Are you still remember during Tet 1968, North Vietnam troops attacked South Vietnam. Specially, Ho ordered to kill over 5 thousand civilians in Hue! Ho pushed one hundred thousand young soldiers to be KIA in the south. Only Khe Sanh battle, Ho's troops was killed seven thousand soldiers. Even Ho won the Vietnam War by US withdrawn, but now can Vietnam defeat if China invading? I hope Vietnam Communist Party win again!
For all those that want to sit on their asses on the couch and complain what American did over there.... WATCH FOOTAGE LIKE THIS or better yet join the service and know what it is to be a Proud American like the Vietnam Veterans along with all the other wars that our fathers, sons, brothers,,etc. did to keep us FREE. We don't have a clue what the Vietnam Veterans went through. My prayers are with them and their families. I personally say Thank You So Much. If only we really knew
Amazing how after WW2 and all the photographs of the horror and stupidity that came back, that people could be so stupid to continue to sign up for war, continue to sign up as soldiers, continue to be pawns and cannon fodder for the state and its empires. Peoples capacity of unendless stupidity and greed never ceases to appall me. The grim reaper laughs to no end. March to your parades, look smart in your uniforms, swear allegience to your country that don't give a rats ass about you.
The Viet Nam war was the first where there was much video coverage shown on the evening news. There was much support for the war in the beginning....people were glued to their tv sets. Then reality set in....it was a vicious war....many innocent locals being caught in the middle. Soon, our soldiers lost support of the people at home....not like today where they are fully supported by the public. I appreciate and applaud all veterans of the VietNam war. God bless.
I studied this kind of war most of my life perpared myself for jungle fighting like my uncles before me and my country goes to war in the desert.I only lost one family member in nam doc james pinion 1968 us army the rto, brown water navy, and uncle that launched aircraft off carriers came home the medic died.
My father in-law was there from 68-72 & for years would never speak of it. He'd even leave the room if it was brought up. A few years ago my son (now 14) started asking questions. Even then, it was like their own secret...Grandfather to Grandson. But just recently History Channel has Vietnam in HD & National Geographic Channel has Inside the Vietnam War. He asked us to watch it. Finally after all these years, he talks to us about what he went through. What those guys were up against was crazy.
@TheMackies7576 My mom tells me about what my grandpa said of what happened to some of his friends in Vietnam witnessed and had to fight through over there because he was stationed in Germany luckily but i don't know why.So anyway she says he said he only had a few friends come back out of a'lot that went over there. She also said he would real amotional talking about it
Thanks. Very sad to see American troops die for what reason (or any reason)? These young men are my heroes. Though govts are evil, the returning troops should have been given a heroes' welcome.
@julieification The troops that fought this war received no welcome home.....not like todays soldiers. My wife and parents were there to welcome me.....no thank you from the public.
@doinok709 Well...I will thank you as well. I love the soldiers and the generals who actually tried to win this war. But the war wasn't supposed to be won. We pulled out to the destruction of many Vietnamese who were counting on us. But if you were standing in front of me I would salute you.
country to country war has declined an enormous amount after the cold war. terrorism and internal govt struggle is what is devouring the modern world. i believe when countries can grow up and corrupt leaders can quit queering up the whole world peace can be achieved
as you're watching this video, just imagine yourself in each situation and footage, it will give you chills just thinking about it, music like this helps
I hate the media. They lie about South Vietnam. They say that ARVN soldiers didnt fight hard or didnt fight at all. But if you ask an american soldier, they would say that the arvn fought damn hard. It ranked up as 4th best army in the world during the time.
my dad was in the battle for Hue. He was part of the Marines, and was given a shotgun and told go search some buildings. He entered one of the buildings, and an NVA machine gun tore him up. His fellow Marines retreated, as 3 of them following my dad had been wounded. The NVA started to follow him, and my dad's last action was pulling a pin on a grenade and yelling "Hurrah!" He took 4 NVA soldier's lives, and saved his fellow Marines. I am proud.
@andemadsmit so, what is it Praying?..........Wars are result of Mis-communications, Power, Greed,Jealousy,Hate for Humanity,Superiority Complex,Racism, Bigetory,mis-understanding etc, therefore was is an Evil against True Humanity.
@gogoandywolf You right, my friend but we have to move forward not backwards which means we need embrace humanity than Wars though I do believe we need to do some clean up beforehand.
There too they where trying to "win the hearts a/ minds of the locals" because they had the conviction that communism had too be conquered with brute force,
WRONG , it only needed time to show the Vietnamese that sort of politics doesn't function. Same goes for extremist religions everywhere , give it time and it will correct itself, that's what Tunisia, Egypt shows us ,so will Libya and Syria. No need for trampling the countryside like in Iraq or Vietnam, that makes you a bully nation.
What you see here are some real fucking men, much respect to the all the vets.

@KoreanMeatball alot of this is footage from the Hue offensive in 68 - type in 'Vietnam War Hue city 1968'
its when the US went into Hue and fought street to street/ building to building to clear and secure the city.
Met with huge resistance from NVA.
