  • AMEN!! well said ... favorite book anything by Dan Brown! :D have a great day!

  • If you see this comment, i know you have loads of requests but this one is special, sing"the ballad of mona lisa" by panic at the disco.

  • anyone else hear the reeeeeeally high pitched buzz in the background?

  • Favorite Book: Harry Potter FTW!

  • i love you, tonjes.

  • you are amazing. you hit the nail right on the head ma'am. nobody has a right to tell someone else what to do with their bodies.

p.s. my favorite book is "the curious incident of the dog in the nighttime" by mark haddon.

    p.p.s. i love butter :)

  • type 2 diabetes has a link to a certain processed additive that was used starting in the early 1900. if you can remove it from your diet you can defeat type 2 diabetes .

  • Favorite book- "Memiors of a Geisha"

Also, didn't like Paula Deen before she had diabetes, still don't, also don't care about her diabetes. LOL

  • i don't like popcorn, the shit gets stuck in my teeth...and i don't have a favorite book- i like lots of books, i dont like that question lol

  • I love Paula Dean. Her comment on the Opera show pretty much sums up how I feel about this: "I'm your cook not your doctor!"

  • So much love. LOL

  • ...and you officially rock my world (just for the record).

  • My favourite book is...The Dice Man...

  • I agree there are bigger things in the world to worry about. I love you voice and hope to one day see you live. Good luck in all your music.

  • You are so honest and funny. Marry me.

  • haha i love this, to the point, I keep wondering how we can re-educate people to think for their own selves and not believe everything they come across, but people usually have to suffer a lot before they find that spark to want to become better and to become 'individuals'

  • Just when I think I can't love you more, you load this video. <3

  • "on the twitter and thee facebook" lol<3 love you meghan

  • My response to the Paula Deen controversy was to buy some of her jam. It was good.

  • At the moment I am being unbelievably touched and and am finally seeing the light again - by reading The Fault in Our Stars. :) xx

  • Oh, and my favourite book so far is "The Book Thief" :D

  • When you said the thing about the donut burgers, I thought you were just making up something to be funny, but no, that actually exists.

And for anyone still confused, no, that would not be a healthy snack...

  • ROFL! You are hilarious and I LOVE your rebuttal to the crazy Paula Deen haters.... AMEN SISTAH!

  • In all fairness to the lady that sued McDonald's, the coffee machines were actually calibrated to be well above safe temperatures...

  • Favorite Book: Burdastyle Home Sewing guide....yep...I'm weird...

  • I love this video...my sentiments exactly. Favorite book... Eat, Pray, Love....we should all be practicing that, instead of judging one another for our choices. What you see as a poor choice, others may see as a good choice....it's all subjective if you ask me.

  • one of my favorite books is Fahrenheit 451 and paula deen makes me giggle. she is fabulous. :}

  • you can disagree with that opinion but you should know I'm right lol

  • This video was AWESOME!!!!! I die! PREACH!

  • Paula Deen is HBIC.

  • I like you just talking. Not quite as much as your singing but even so.

If this account was half songs, half social commentary.

I'd subscribe all over again. And then some.

  • @VOXboxed uhm . . . its called a vlog channel. subscribe to it, this ones for music. ;p

  • Today was a snow day at my college so I made a giant caterpillar in the snow. Not once did I think about Paula Dean until I watched this video.

  • I wanted to "like" this video, but you have 666 likes, and that just seemed too perfect to mess up :-) Seriously though - my thoughts exactly!

  • i schlove you.

  • Could you maybe possibly maybe do Coffee and Cigarettes by Jimmy Eat World?

  • Butter is actually good for you if its organic and of course in moderation. One of my favorite books right now is 'Deep Nutrition'

  • A wrinkle in Time by madeline L. Engle

  • ... My favourite book is harry potter.

  • Not on this topic - but I was curious if you were a youtube partner before starting covers OR did you become a partner even though you had covers posted...not quite sure of the actual 'rules'. You opinion and response would be greatly valued!!!

Love your stuff - amazing and unique voice!

  • I love you. Plain and simple.

  • It wouldn't be considered southern cooking without butter. Paula doesn't have to share private things with the public. Plus its not like she's forcing people to eat the food that is within her cooking style. Its up to the person to think for themselves on what is healthy and what is not.

  • You got soooo skinny.

  • I agree with most of your points but re: the coffee thing, the lady who spilled it on herself got severe chemical burns - it was served at an unnecessarily high temperature and really, was a danger to consumers. Sorry to nitpick.

  • this was good.. I liked it a lot.. and laughed a little.

btw. I'm reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.. everyone has and has said good things about it. It starts off slow but gets pretty good! and yes, I will probably see the movie. In both languages. Also.. as for my life. I decided to leave the town I feel like I'm drowning in and taking myself to the mountains!

SIDE NOTE-- I am SO used to my phone correcting my spelling, I expect my computer to do it too.. doesn't happen. Bummer.

  • i 100% agree with you :)

  • The Fault in our Stars John Green

  • I totally agree with your opinion on paula deen!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its SO refreshing.

  • Paula also reminds us that sometimes the positive contribution that we can make in the world is to be a good example to those stupid backward ignorant people.

  • I would love it if more people focused on making a positive change in the world. Its those stupid backward ignorant people that remind us what we do not want to be. Like if there was nothing bad in the world, how would be know what's good? But there has to be a balance. Our bodies have a way of reminding us of this. Paula Deen is no exception. She is a more extreme example that shows us that our choices have consequences.

  • A Tree Grows in Brooklyn -- Betty Smith

  • Amen!

  • My favorite book? It's more like a trilogy ~ The Hunger Games :D

  • that beeping....... whistle sound hurt my ears!!!!

  • Fav book.. Hmmm... I like twilight and the sookie stackhouse novels and the fallen series. Love 'the giver' and 'Man's search for meaning'

  • Best. Song. Yet.

  • Ender's Game is by far my favorite book

  • Going Bovine by Libba Bray

  • I only know paula dean through tumblr, but I feel about paula dean the way o feel about the kardashians. Ppl bitch about how kim k made millions on the wedding and then go and watch keeping up, but they are the ones hyping it up and therefore giving them power in the media

  • I do think Paula Deen had to disclose that fact that she had diabetes BECAUSE she was planning on working with a company that sells diabetic medicine. The idea is that the audience will buy a product if it is endorsed by someone in the same situation as them. If you see them getting better you're more likely to think it will work for you. If she wasn't doing the campaign then it wouldn't have been anyone's business.

  • Any Discworld book ^_^ But, I especially enjoyed Going Postal or Night Watch by Terry Pratchett

  • People need to be responsible for their own actions??? WHAT A THOUGHT! Paula Dean's health problems are no ones business and she didn't owe it to anyone to disclose that information.

  • the hunger games series...

and im still waiting for you to touch me....

  • I always just assumed Paula Deen had diabetes... She makes FRIED cheesecake for God's sake!

  • more videos like this! can't wait to get touched

  • amen

  • this is what i told someone the other day! love this!

  • My favorite book is Les Misérables.

I think Paula Deen is hilarious. I've also been channeling her a bit, as I've used thirteen sticks of butter in the past week...

  • i have never heard of paula dean before it is my decision to research her to see what all the fuss is about... and even though i dont know who she is i thought this was very very funny ♥♥

  • I really don't care about Paula Deen, I know her food is ridiculously disgusting and unhealthy my only problem is that she waited until it was beneficial to her to spread the news. Yeah people should know that eating her food is unhealthy but pretending that it's not for so long just get an endorsement deal is really appalling to me. I just think that since she chose to live a public life she should recognize the consequences of her influence on people.

  • I made a desision lately.... I love you... all of it!

  • My favourite book: The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien

My own decisions: I eat vegan and am deciding to take a trip to Thailand after I graduate

My own emotions: I really freaking love my cat.

    There :)

  • I think it's horribly sad that Paula Deen got diabetes, but wonderful at the same time. It may sound cruel that I think it's wonderful, but I just think it could be a kick in the ass of all the people who smother their food in sugar and butter. When you eat like that, bad things happen to your body. Paula Deen is now proof and I hope everybody remembers her diabetes when cooking up a recipe similar to any of hers.

I love when people have epiphanies and start to eat healthier & cleaner.

  • That was my giggle for the day. :D

And my favourite book, at the moment, is Magic Slays. Ilona Andrews ROCKS!

  • World War Z is pretty good.

  • This made my day complete. Couldn't have said it better if I had a YouTube account to say it on.

  • Now I know why I love you. >:D

I said something almost exactly the same, except you were a bit more polite. I remember saying something to the effect of "I just hope you don't reproduce first!"

  • I <3 you Meghan Tonjes. You are the wind beneath my wings. Truth, all from your mouf.

  • i have multiple sclerosis and i have decided not to take any of the MS meds because they cause so much damage and have a 33% effectiveness. the docs keep trying to shove it down my throat. i havent been on anything since July 2010 and i dont feel any worse than i did before. thank you for speaking ur mind. there is too much bullshit out there anymore that its nice to listen to the truth.

  • I think there's kind of another group of people you didn't address--people who have diabetes that are annoyed that Paula Dean is just profiting off of the disease. I wish she would have done some type of PSA thing instead of being the spokesperson for some medication, but hey. Oh well. I've already given too much thought to this. I need to worry about graduating from college...wow. Sounds weird even saying that.

  • I have no time to even consider the Paula Deen thing. I have serious issues to worry about.

Like what if you don't touch me in the year of touching? )=

Let me just say this Meghan, I shall be distraught.

OH! and another thing, have you cut Crystal in the face yet? I'm behind the times...

  • You are amazing. just so you know.

  • MY EXACT THOUGHTS ON ISSUES LIKETHIS.. Im just to chicken to speak up...kudos to you meg. favorite book? unsure...

  • i think skinny love by bon iver would be a great song to do one of these tuesdays :D

  • I understand that people are morons because they are... I have to deal with them at work everyday. However, she's in the public eye and people watch her so I could also see why people would be upset to hear this news. Once again... people are fucking idiots though haha

  • Wauw... Well spoken! :D

My favorite book(s) is/are Trudi Canavan's "The Black Magician" series... :)

  • Go megan go!

  • I like too many book, I can't pick just one.

  • yummmmm........butter

  • Night Play by Sherrilyn Kenyon!

  • "unless its me OBVIOUSLY" hahaha. :)

  • goddamn, I love you. Very well said :)

  • I love you. I feel the exact same way, thank you!<3

  • Also, the only thing that changes faster than my favorite book would be my hair color. Though Kurt Vonnegut will always be my favorite author.

  • I love your rants.

  • Well said!!

  • JOHN GREEN JOHN GREEN AND JOHN GREEEN! are my favorite books AND JOSH SUNDQUIST!

  • My friend has been preaching this forever. Your life is much too short to be concerned with such petty things.

Ten years ago, I decided to teach myself sign language from books in the library. Today, I am in college studying to become a teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing. I feel my decision was worthwhile.

  • YouTube really needs a love button.

  • One of my favorite books is "She's Come Undone," by Wally Lamb. I love to read while eating chunks of butter dipped in tempura batter, deep fried in lard, and smothered in melted dark chocolate.

  • is it bad that i started laughing before i even clicked on this video?

  • Yes Gurl and I make my own decision to go to Paula's Buffet and proudly eat 7 plates and go back as soon as possible to go again im in my lower 20s so i'll do it while I can! I'm proud of my decision and it makes me happy as hell and unfortunately prego with a food baby quite often heart u!

  • I don't think our culture understands what a book is. They're too busy buying magazines and such with their Nooks and Kindles.

BTW - you're brilliant. And I adore the classics...Shakespeare, Poe, Austen, C.S. Lewis, etc. I also enjoy Libba Bray's "A Great and Terrible Beauty." Good stuff. :)

  • A-fucking-men.

  • i love you.

  • "Walk Two Moons" by Sharon Creech. I'm way too old for it, but it hits me every time.

  • You are right. And I'm really happy people like you exist.

  • Illusions by Richard Bach. Best book I swear.

  • The Witches by Roald Dahl or The Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein.

  • Well said.

  • TOTALLY AGREE lol.

  • I loved this and I love you. Well done. :)

  • AMEN! I <3 you!

  • well said woman you are right haha

  • I think you are a plant... you are toooooo good!

  • AMEN

  • frigin hilarious. you go girl!

  • Totally agree.

  • @tonjesml PLEASE, PLEASE, start a weekly show where you comment on pop culture THIS WAS HILARIOUS. Seriously, your vlogs against twitter trends are always funny.

BTW -- One of my favourite books has to be Rinkitink In Oz.

  • @DJisEJ highly agree!

  • I think Cookie Monster has also weighed in on this issue: "Cookies are a sometimes food." Seriously, you can eat any ridiculous thing you want, as long as you only do it once in a while, and eat sensibly the rest of the time. I love occasionally making something fatty and rich and sinful for dinner, but I have to sandwich it in the middle of a week of healthy meals.

  • This is one of reasons why I love Meghan Tonjes. She tells it as it is.

  • don't have an overall favourite book because reading is incredible regardless, but *shameless tfios plug* EVERYONE GO READ THE FAULT IN OUR STARS BY JOHN GREEN! :)

  • My favorite comment so far; 'Who the f--k is Paula Deen?' Hahahaa! My favorite book is.....

  • Meghan, this is fucking great.

  • My favorite book is The Fault in Our Stars........ since you wanted me to tell you

  • I think Paula Deen (which I thought was spelled Dean, don't know why) is getting money and doesn't care about what people are saying so I don't see the point in ranting and raving about it. As you said it's not gonna stop her. I wish her well :).

And my favorite book is Afraid by Jack Kilborn.

  • I spit my drink out laughing because of that picture of her riding an otter.

  • What Kelly just said! Surassly, gf. (& I kinda LUV the whole "You're a #^%n' IDIOT!" thing. Coz normally I wouldn't but you made it work. Keep makin it work, dear one! ALL OF IT <3 <3

  • Go you!!! Lol. It's nice to hear ppl talk about how they feel and not care what others think! Our world is so judgmental but if we all took the time to see the beauty in things then we wouldnt have as many issues.

  • lmfao you seriously win in all areas of winning =D keep being you Meghan <3

  • My favorite book is Teach Me by R.A. Nelson. (:

Also, I'm not surprised that Paula Deen has diabetes but it didn't change my indifference toward her. :P

  • Amen!

  • Reaperman by Terry Pratchett, best book ever!

  • You. Are. Amazing. That is all.

  • idk I think that if the way you make a living is directly related to promoting an unhealthy lifestyle that you should be upfront about having a disease that directly correlates to it. If she was an actress or a singer I would think differently. And pay the bills? Seriously? This woman is a millionaire. IMO she should give the profits of her endorsement to diabetes research.

  • i think why everyones all up in arms is because paula is making it OK to get diabetes. "why not have that cheeseburger and fries and supersize shake... theres a pill i can take to make it all better! look at how paula deen eats, i can too cause theres a magic potion that will keep me healthy!" its wool over everyones eyes. diabeties can usually be reversed (and more importantly PREVENTED) with clean eating. but why not just take a fucking pill, cause its easier and you can still stuff your face

  • youre beautiful, i wish i were you!

  • please cover From This Oil Can by Dan Andriano in the Emergency Room

  • you been hanging out with Mile to much, starting to sound like him lol

  • My new favourite book is also The Fault in Our Stars by John Green <3

  • who the fuck is paula dean....?

  • @WICKDZEBRA she's a women who cooks food with krispy kream donuts. enough said.she's on an ellen episode if you wanna watch.

  • I just figure Paula Deen is a sellout.

  • Paula Dean SUCKS People should stop watching her show people should stop buying her crap telling everyone she has this condition so she can sale some meds look she should have just kept this to herself instead of pertending like she cares about this cause she just wants to make a dollar stop buying her stuff and stop with the whole KimKhole and her sister stuff too just stop people

  • Well put! :D It's just human nature to want to blame someone else for their actions! Just because their afraid to make their own decisions. Nobody makes you start smoking, eat unhealty, start parachuting etc. Here in Norway we laugh a lot about the american culture with everbody sewing each other for everything. Like putting your cat in the microwave because the instructions didn't say that you couldn't! ;) Seriously? ;) haha.. But you are a lovely person! :)

  • I think Paula Dean is a slave owner woman. Look she is doing a deal to make money

not to do something for free or to help out but she is telling the world she has this condition so that she can sale some meds what a horrible slave owner YES SHE IS VERY EVIL

& why the hell would anyone feel betrayed just another white person sucking blood from dumb

Americans & she is a horrible woman

  • Most recipes exist and can be altered to suit the cooker so therefore if someone wants to change the lb of butter to margarine or other means, that is free to do so. Sadly, those that cook know this and most people don't and think that recipes exist as is and are the end all be all. Course I'm assuming that people other than me actually cook at home and use that forgotten room called the kitchen. -_-;

  • my new favorite book is the fault in our stars by john green :D DFTBA

  • Comment removed

  • You raised some good points, especially about personal responsibility. Not so sure about the "You are a f*****g idiot" type statements, though. How is that different from them? You essentially ask them to respect the place others are in in their lives, then disrespect their place. The same message could be less confrontational. This approach only raises defensiveness. Don't mean to be disrespectful - I only bother to write this because I have so much respect for your talent and aspirations.

  • "you can disagree with my opinion but you should know that I'm right" Hahahahaha

  • I am a firm believer that butter makes everything better except for diabetes. I think we all know that....but we still eat it

  • 13 people were upset because they spend their days eating a tub of butter.

  • I love this. Celebrates should not be held responsible for the decisions that the general public make. If their only form of education is Paula D. They need to go to a library.

  • i just gained more respect for you in this video, not saying i didnt before but maybe im falling in love just a little lol :)

  • THIS.

  • My mom taught me about those people, they cheat at cards too. They'll also cut you off in traffic. lol.

  • This made me smile, Thanks so much for your opinion :D

  • My favorite book is Ender's Game. But I might change my opinion to the Fault in Our Stars. Also, you are right Meghan.

  • The problem is people ARE stupid and the producers of the Paula Deen show KNOW that and that's why it's aired (irresponsibly). It's sad that people feel betrayed, but that's our country, ranked 21st in science education among the 30 industrialized countries... and Paula Deen's audience weeds out the people that got us a score THAT high. I don't feel betrayed personally, 'cause I'm smarter than that, but I feel the whole thing is bullshit. No, I KNOW it's bullshit.

  • What pisses me off more than the Paula Deen thing is all the Prilosec and Prevacid ads that act like that's the bandaid for the situation. The treatment isn't medicine, the treatment is not eating so much crap that upsets your stomach. Don't down a burrito doused in hot sauce vs. doing that and then taking a medicine to block the proton pumps in your stomach from doing their naturally intended job!

  • Hell they've got Larry the Fuckin' Cable Guy practically saying "Hey guys, be cool and eat like a fat slob and take a med to cover the painful cries of your digestive system like I do!"

COVER SUGGESTION: AC/DC "Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" hehe...

  • I think I paid more attention to this than a lot of people 'cause my wife is an engineer with Abbott, a company that works to treat diabetes by responsible diet and exercise management vs. taking a pill and eating Krispy Kremes.

  • The Fault in Our Stars!

  • Let's get marrieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed !

  • you're so awesome. that is all. x

  • Comment removed

  • I have absolutely no idea who paula deen is (now with a look to the right YT suggests a few videos.. ugh), but watching you kinda rant and listening to it, is worth 4:31 of my time. Definitely! Luv ya. Kind of :D

Aaaand you can touch me as often as you want if you ever come to germany.

    Bäm!

  • Medical statuses, are just that...medical issues. Not anyone's business. TOTALLY AGREE! Grow up people and make your own decisions. Best line ever: "If you are someone who is upset and feels deceived because Paula Deen didn't tell you that eating a pound of butter a day was a bad idea...you're a fucking idiot."
