Nice voice. I did G. in HS too, long ago. Bless the students who wrked so hard to do the show. My comment is 4 the director: If U wanted J. singing this song, fine (it messes up the original bt who's gonna stop you?) HOWEVER, WHY in the world did U direct him to play it to the audience like a sermon. It shortchanged the actors from working on a scene responding to the character who sings & to each other. G. is not a 'religious concert,' it's a musical play with real interactions & depth.
Wow, not Jesus' song in the show, not fantastically sung, but the singer carries it off, especially with the monologue in the middle and with an easy, ernest determination that makes it all work. Good job!
this song is flat. like really flat. Not to insult, just being constructive critic. I blame the director for not transposing for someone who could hurt himself hitting notes he isn't trained for.
In response to a couple people's questions, Jesus (OR Judas) is not supposed to sing this. Lamar is supposed to. Lamar is supposed to be cast for his strong voice (it's in the character description, even) but in high school, there is much less talent to choose from and if one of your other parts has the only voice that can handle it then they'll probably just give it to him since it's not character specific. I'm guessing what happened here.
I'm singing this in my production, I'm not jesus though, in fact, I don't know why I'm siging it, it's compleatly out of my range but whatever, great job!
Our Godspell is performing in about two weeks, and I'm singing this one. Our MD had to rewrite part of the melody because I'm a girl and if I sang it straight I'd be jumping octaves in a very bizarre way during the phrases. But any guy who can sing this gets major brownie points in my book - excellent job.

@eis4eddieedward Epic fail. This is incredibly well sung. It is not Jesus' sung, yes, but they obviously gave it to him because of his amazing voice.

Listen to the original soundtrack - it doesn't need to be changed. Have faith, sing this song to God and you can't go wrong...
It's a beautiful song of praise - so just sing from your heart.
