How can catholicism be called a church? What it is is people gathering to follow false doctrine. Catholics follow the doctrine of MEN rather than GOD. God says nothing about praying to Mary. Many priests and bishops took advantage of the people, and the pope of that time considered these abuses and tried his best to put a stop it it. Thats one of the reasons why no indulgences are sold at this time. I as a catholic believe that works and faith are needed together for salvation. You must give your entire life to God.

Jesus was speaking to religious people here. Today Catholics arrogantly trust in their works to merit salvation rather than trusting on the finished work and grace of Jesus alone.

Untrue at minimum. Majority of Catholics do all Jesus asks and more. I have seen this over and over that "others" say, Catholics rely on works, but this is never so. If people truly knew the depth of this faith they would question nothing. But they only go by heresay and pick and choose. I suggest following a Catholic for one year, observing, watching and seeing the mass. It takes volumes of example and readings to give the true depth of this faith.
