he won this legit. sure guys fell, but he was already in 1st place. on some races he out competed to win. on others he got the lucky benefit of people falling. but staying on your feet is part of the competition. he's fell plenty of times where if he hadnt he may have won, so others got lucky in those matches. also, any skater who can even get to the final round is a great skater by virtue of them making that far...even if they take last at that point.

Congrats Apolo & all skaters for ur accomplishments. Last individual Olympic race shows how subjective judging can be. Was Apolo's hand placement a "push" or simply a "cushion" to keep him from running into the other skater Judging controversy leads to rule discussions & subjective definition. I enjoy watching speed skating... for the thrill of seeing skaters Safely slip, slide & crash into thick foam padding. Hope to see more of Apolo Canadians & Koreans at next exciting short track events.

And for the 500 meter race this year I honestly do not think Apolo purposefully pushed that man down. They are going really fast and even the slightest touch can knock someone down, he didn't mean to "cheat" as most of you are calling it.
okay, for one I would like to say that I truly respect Apolo Ohno and his skating and his determination, Yes he has gotten lucky on some races when others have fallen and he then in result gets a medal but he still is an amazing skater and I think he deserves his medals. Everyone works hard in the Olympics, but sometimes luck is just not on your side.
For one thing, Apolo is so good that he is almost never the one falling, and secondly, he's very good at avoiding others who are falling.....luck may have some role, but I truly think he is just that good as well! Actually it wasn't Ohno's hand that caused the crash. Tremblay took his hand off the ice to block a pass (not legal) then put his hand on Ohno's leg, which caused him to lose balance and fall. Ohno would have passed him and he knew it. Watch the race from all angles in slow-motion and you'll see it. Saying Ohno caused Tremblay to fall is like saying Hamelin caused Si-Bak to fall.
hamelin did cause Si-Bak to fall. i found a video that showed the incident from a different angle and hamelin DID reach for Si-Bak and pushed lightly under his armpit.

Congrats Apolo & all skaters for ur accomplishments. Last individual Olympic race shows how subjective judging can be. Was Apolo's hand placement a "push" or simply a "cushion" to keep him from running into the other skater Judging controversy leads to rule discussions & subjective definition. I enjoy watching speed skating... for the thrill of seeing skaters Safely slip, slide & crash into thick foam padding. Hope to see more of Apolo Canadians & Koreans at next exciting short track events.

okay, for one I would like to say that I truly respect Apolo Ohno and his skating and his determination, Yes he has gotten lucky on some races when others have fallen and he then in result gets a medal but he still is an amazing skater and I think he deserves his medals. Everyone works hard in the Olympics, but sometimes luck is just not on your side.

For one thing, Apolo is so good that he is almost never the one falling, and secondly, he's very good at avoiding others who are falling.....luck may have some role, but I truly think he is just that good as well! And yes, he certainly didn't push the other skater as he barely touched him just to keep from running into him.

Nobody is hating on Apolo. You see Apolo actually has chosen his own path. He took the gold against the crowd of Roman arena. If you were only at the game the moment DQ was announced. That was probably the loudest Olympic moment and they were awe and woos. You see Nike corporation was supposed to sponsor him. Do you know the reason why Nike couldn't use Apolo? Because they don't make tap dancing shoes. Apolo is better known for dances with the stars.

I saw that video on the interview with Apolo. Apolo is actually wrong about that as he only explained from his point of view. But Canadians could easily ruled that Apolo was cross tracking impeding on fast approaching Canadian skaters lane on the first lap. Apolo was not disqualified at least.

Actually it wasn't Ohno's hand that caused the crash. Tremblay took his hand off the ice to block a pass (not legal) then put his hand on Ohno's leg, which caused him to lose balance and fall. Ohno would have passed him and he knew it. Watch the race from all angles in slow-motion and you'll see it. Saying Ohno caused Tremblay to fall is like saying Hamelin caused Si-Bak to fall.
