Osho came up with Dynamic Meditation which consists of 5 stages back in the 60's or 70's. I have his Dynamic Meditation CD and i love it. Check Osho out on U Tube. In particular there is a video of him taken of him in the 70's i think, showing his visitors at an ashram how to do it, and he explains what it's all about..
@wolfdaddy2002 i was doing psycotherapy and loved it, couldnt afford to continue and went to 5 rythms without even think of it being something to replace and i found that this dance helps me just as much as my therapist did. amazing. i am now considering to really go for this and learn more and maybe be a teacher of it.
Dance is something to be experienced. It's great watching, but "doing" is a whole different thing. As you can see in this video, it's not the form that's important. Letting the music "move through you" opens up all the channels where anything is possible.
I like this a lot! Although I would suggest that the Chaos section is not chaotic enough, in the sense that the drumming is still in 4/4 time. To approach chaos, the drumming should strive towards timelessness.
This is so cool! I was introduced to something similar to this (on a much smaller scale) when I went through physical therapy for my TMJ. I hold a LOT of tension in my neck and shoulders, and occasionally use some of the techniques I learned to release some of that. Is there anyone who teaches this in New Orleans?
Shame on all who trademark and copyright dancing and what is simply a good club night. Imagine if the first mixing dj trademarked the technique, or buddha trademarked his teachings? What a sad state of afairs that would be
You really have to do it to know what it is like. Seeing it only you cannot know what its like. I experienced this for the first time a week ago and am still feeling the joy from the experience.
Why are so many people soooo intolerant of things others enjoy? Unless you've tried this, I don't know how anyone can have an opinion. I had my first experience of 5rhythms dance the other day in Australia. Best thing I've ever experienced on a dance floor! Love it! ps.s not a hippie thing - it's for anyone who wants to feel in touch with their physicality.
'm little worried, because I will have to perform 5 rhythms in the kindergarten with children..I was introduced to the 5 Rhythms at the 2008 Burning Man 2008. I was blown away
I was introduced to the 5 Rhythms at the 2008 Burning Man 2008. I was blown away. I am going to try to introduce 5 Rhythms to our local small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Good luck ?
Gabrielle inspires me infinitely ! Her work to help the dancer to meet the dance is enormous for body/soul connection. I use her music a lot for our dancing satsang here in our osho group in Mauritius.
We did this a few times in my dance class. In the beginning it felt really weird, but after a few times it got better and it actually felt great. I don't think I have ever felt so free and relieved and in touch with myself.
Welllll --- what a wild and beautiful way to explore the Dyonissian segement of our human being! But what makes this different than a rave? Do both explore the same dynamic?
I read and enjoyed and learned from several of Roth's books --- unfortunately loaned them and they never came back?
She makes sense. I bet you could pick your own music and do similar thing and get it out that way. Lots of teens dancing to rock or something else on their own in the garage practically do something like this intiutively. Adults need to be taught. I picked up her DVD in the library. Glad I did.
While behavioral methods and even RET are frequently practiced on the involuntary, this stuff is better reserved for folks seeking and welcoming awareness. consciousness junkies sometimes tend to think that's everybody; sometimes I need this kind of wake up call.
In that case, you're a bit of a nitwit, aren't you? I mean honestly: even if it doesn't "work", what's the worst that can happen from getting in touch with your body and giving it up to free movement?
Actually I am in tune with every aspect of my body. I am acutely aware of every cell, every spark or electricity that runs through every nerve fiber; and I don't need to dance Like a twat to do it. I do however enjoy dancing like a twat in clubs because bouncing about releases endorphins and slightly scares 'normal' people, who need challenging out of their humdrum existence. You are a closed minded fool who cannot see beyond the blatant BS that hippies like this feed you.
thanks, the post enabled me to reflect on some things that we as psych workers tend to do: impose our techniques on involuntary participants. This rhythm stuff is definately psych work that may not work well in an audience in which a participant is externalizing alot of unreflected aggression.
Yes I agree that the dance does not work for dancers who psyche is expansive and in tune with more aspects of their environment and the universe than the other lesser psyche's cannot even comprehend because of their own blind internalism. To abandon one aspect of your nature because it is socially unacceptable or conjures animalistic inappropriatacies is to deny the existence of the whole truth for a semi truth patched up with cotton candy fairy tales.
i hope these people didnt pay for this...

talk about fools and their money are easily parted - how aren't you all pissing yourselves laughing we 4 certainly are!!!!

Because mature adults understand that sure, these people may be hippies, but humans are always trying and learning new things.
Pissing yourself with laughter is evidence of your immaturity.

Oh, we had one-hour class on college from 5 rhythm's. You get very exhausted and breathless- especially because of chaos!
