Just finished watching this on Netflix today. Still makes me feel like a kid. Used to get very excited when Ch11 in New York would start advertising it. I noticed that this came out in 1962. Wow! 49 years old! And it is a great movie of great quality.
Damn, I sure would have hated 2 b that wuffel-jelly cake. He ate it so fast he almost bit his fingers off. Then, the greedy little booger didn't even say GRACE. Help, Lord! If there is a wuffel-jelly heaven I KNOOOOOOOOOOOW those cakes are THERE. God bless those cakes, each and EVERY one...
My favorite version of "Scrooge", which I first saw as a four year old! Scary Christmas Future ghost! Jule Styne wrote this cute score, too. Thanks for the memories!
Jim Backus ( professor on Gilligans Island ) does the voice for Mr. Magoo. If you buy the dvd release of this, you get a little background story on the making of this film. Just thought Id share that :) Love this cartoon.
This movie was a huge part of my childhood Christmases! Wish it played on TV sometimes during the holidays so I wouldn't have to resort to my VHS recording of it that's on the way out :[
Just put this one in the other day to get myself in the mood for the Holidays! I still enjoy it from start to finish, it just sends me back in time to a younger self! Thanks for posting and hope you have a Merry Christmas to all!!!!
Amen, but you can see why they don't put on Red Boots for Christmas and stories the that tell the true meaning of Christmas on TV like they did a while back. Now when you have a Christmas show on you have to include several religions when it's CHRISTMAS!
What an amazing film. Kind of cheesy early-'60s art work/animation but with one of the most beautiful music soundtracks ever. The music is what makes it really special. How glorious! A timeless classic. :)
I know how you all feel ....this brought many tears to me when I remembered watching this as a young kid in the early 1960's. I am so touched by some of these scenes. The artwork in this little movie is amazing! White outlines against dark backgrounds. Cubism perhaps...quite surreal!
As kids, we got a kick out of the razzleberry dressing scene with Tiny Tim. It's created a family tradition - I always bring a razzleberry pie as part of our Christmas dessert!
Great movie! A++++ I must be a child at heart because I still love to watch this movie every Christmas season. I was only three years old when this great movie was made! Unfortunately, they don't make movies like this any more and this is a very sad fact indeed! I wish to thank all of the great people who made this great movie possible! I will never forget you! God bless all of you! Merry Christmas to you all!
@xaniiu It's earlier in the show, during the first run of the song: "we've been so awful good...from me down to the baby / and we're not made of wood...or razzleberry gravy."
i used to love this as a kid (still do) but they never show it anymore...i'd def love to have my son watch it and pass it along.i can get a dvd but isn't it better waiting for it to come on tv .u get all amped up for it like" it's almost 8 mr mcgoo is coming on" haha
I love this movie too, brings back childhood memories of coming in from playing in the cold to watch this on TV! Hey, watch that kid, he's eating the candle!!

Oh my, a beautiful Christmas religious message, the kind the ACLU hates. Ha Ha!

I always liked Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. It's a shame the major networks don't seem to carry it anymore.

Just a further comment. I don't know what a 'razzleberry' is? I thought they just invented this word for the cartoon. What plant does it come from?
proinsiaspad 3 years ago
Razzleberry is a normally pie made with raspberries and blackberries.

Tiny Tim is adorable in this movie. <33
I think I have the DVD somewhere in my house, but I can't find it.
I know you can purchase it off of eBay or Amazon, and it's also in the library, probably.

IIRC, Tiny Tim was Gerald McBoing-Boing, a 1950s cartoon character. :-)

They sing this song twice in the movie. This is the second time, and he does not say it here.
