  • 2 people doesn't know what music is all about

  • goosebumps at 2:52

  • There are some really great remixes of this song scattered all around the internet. It's worth searching and supporting them!

  • It's better than new one I think (:

  • If I ever run a factory, this will play on the PA system...I'll also consider flaming barrels of oil. Anyone want in? ;)

  • The new game is good aswell. I like the fact that they have a more proper size for Donkey compared to Diddy, in the new one. Actually looked a little silly before.

  • i never played this game simply cause i hate platformers but this music is out standing

  • 0:22 There's something about that part where the drum comes in with the main melody that just amazes me

  • I keep playing this game 15 years later.... its THE GAME!

  • donkey kong was THE GAME....And the music IS THE MUSIC

  • MASTER SONG! _O_

  • holy fuck i totally overlooked this song. i must have not payed attention since i was younger and didnt notice the peripheral details as much. definitely my favorite in the entire series now

  • I used to replay this level over and over for this song when I was a kid, lol.

  • ¿#19? But this is the best song in the DKC series!

  • @BrainDS2 Besides the water levels....

  • God, I miss These Days, Playing DKC, Pausing the Game to Play to listen to the Good Stuff. Better than Whats Played on Today's Music.

Long Live DKC :) I miss these Games With a Passion, Play them for Days W/o Sleep Listening to The Songs... Way ahead of Its Time.

Tumps Up If You Agree :)

  • This is the only reason why I made it past Oil Drum Alley. This song. It got me pumped.

  • Song always used to put me in seieus mode :D

  • id say, third best soundtrack from the dkc trilogy. behind stickerbrush symphony and gangplank galleon

  • @onthehouse021 Gotta give some love to Forest Interlude.

  • @spectreshadow agreed. im not sure why i said gangplank galleon i dont even like that one that much. but forest interlude is definitely great

  • i love the trumpeths

  • Is this song a homage for the Fear Factory band?

  • Wow brings back memories.

  • This song made pick up my ness controller again. (eventhough its just the extention the wiimote now :'( )

  • it quite kept the relentless motion on dk games very suitable

  • You have a list of 30 songs and every song belongs too the same 5 or so groups of games. ECT Donkey Kong and Final Fantasy

  • Factory is the best world :) atleast its my favourite one

  • 0:57 - 1:12 is Wise/Fischer/Beanland making video music that's almost *too* good. Does anyone really remember what video game music in general sounded like in 1994? The short answer: not like this.

This game is infinitely replayable for so many reasons.

  • The very first time I heard this music way back in 1994 I knew this game was a true masterpiece. Rare back in the day was all we needed.

  • @spectreshadow

    :3 90's NES <3

  • This song should have been in the top 5 of this list I think

  • Donkey Kong Country Return's entire music playlist is remixes of all the original music, Retro Studios (Metroid Prime) has once again showed a ton of respect towards a great franchise.

    Retro Studios, I love you.

  • @UncensoredRhett it's why they call themselves the "Retro" studio!

  • This song preceded all of the popular techno music in the early 2000's and beats most of it too. Original DK techno FTW!

  • I truly LOVE this tune :D

  • I like games old and new...from Atari 2600 to Nintendo Wii...as long as its fun then I'm buying.

Earlier I bought Donkey Kong Country Returns and I'm really enjoying it; because it's new has nothing on it. Although Donkey Kong Country will always have a special place in my heart.

Before DKC: Donkey Kong was just a minor mascot in a bunch of arcade ports into console games. After DKC: Donkey Kong is a full-fledged character.

The best thing about DKC is the music. So creative and innovative!

  • DKC > DKC2 > DKC3

  • Diddy's the kewl guy!!!!

  • As glad as I am that DKC Returns brought this song back, I think the original SNES version still sounds better.

  • @KayTeeArr love the factory friction stage music but this one is better, no doubt.

  • @KayTeeArr its ridiculous but true this version is way better, how is that even possible

  • @KayTeeArr I like both of them. The Returns version just has too much of a tiki/tropical-ish theme to it. But like I said. Both are good. :p

  • @iPushRedButtons Oh, I agree, they're both good. I don't like the Returns one QUITE as much as the SNES one, but it's by no means a bad tune.

  • This music actually made me wanna off myself when I first played.

  • I still have super nintendo and it broke so i bought a new one for 20 bucks at a trading store! lol I love dk country. Even though i am 13 and wasnt around when it first came out. I cant believe we have had it since 1994! when my 22 year old sister got it for x-mas lol SCREW WII,PS3, XBOX 360 AND BLACK OPS!!!!

  • I remember when i was 5 and I played this game. This music gave me the chills when i got to this stage

  • Love that offbeat phrase from 1:16 to 1:19 :D

  • I get the image of smoking a cigarette at night, on the outskirts of a city, and telling someone about how we are about to f**k the shit out a factory.

  • I JUST NOSTALGIA'D A SHITSTORM

  • David Wise is simply the best!

  • Man, someone needs to do a dubstep remix of this

  • @funkeymunkey106 oh my god YES a thousand times YES

  • Man what a classic game with such a legendary soundtrack. I always get a real Terminator vibe from this song, especially 0:43.

  • @properdiglett yea i see (or rather hear) what u mean. doesnt it sound kinda 80's or something?

  • good memories, that was when a video game HARDLY needed a plot =/

  • Omg, nostalgia...

  • I miss Rare.

  • @jarannalli the good die young my friend =/

  • @ElectricTear20

well haha, they're not dead. They just work for Microsoft now.

Oh wait... yeah, they're dead. lol

  • @jarannalli lol without david wise and the original programmers they're dead

  • @ElectricTear20

    agreed

  • Throughout the first 25 seconds I swear a hear Diddy Kong pounding on his barrel saying "eh eh let me out"

  • Lights on, lights off...

Yes, I do remember this theme o_o

  • daamn,i replayed this level so much because of the music that i knew when some sound in the music was playing when to jump or when the light will disappear

    amazing isnt it?

  • you want video-gaming art?

you play the DKC trilogy for snes.

the music + visuals is just superb

  • @giulianomsa

I remember when this games first came out and it was the first time I had ever seen 3D rendered models. I couldn't even understand what I was looking at. I was like... it's so... real.

  • dk destroy all his enemies like sonic to genesis but is a shame sega only got sonic to protect his company nintendo got mario dk samus link and arcade games

  • nothing in this universe can top the snes-not even god all-mighty!

  • Love this track! Check out my Donkey Kong remix at mybeatshop.c0m/kemmik (of course youtube made me put a 0 instead of o in "com")

  • I played this game so much on console doing speed runs... best time was 0:43.

Also, played this level over and over just to hear the music. Jump timings definitely memorized.

  • i had this game on SNES sigh.. where ur childhood has gone i prefer beign kid again than my actual age yup life was easier and awesome :')

  • man this sure was a sweet fucking game

  • Diddy:But there's only a little

    light in this basement !

    Donkey:

    don't worry ,pal-we 'll

    break through the darkenss,then :D

  • @p6mkq lol, cool comment.

  • Heh. It still looks and sounds better than a lot of new games Nintendo has brought out for its recent consoles. I mean seriously, who's going to remember 'imagine painting vetinary horses' or whatever the games are in 10 years time? No one! Simply because Fear Factory does not play in the background.

  • easily #1

  • Shame this isn't higher on the list. ^^b

  • I absolutely love this game! I still know when I was a kid I have often paused the game and only listened to that music. :)

Both in graphics and in music it was before its time. Just awesome!

  • jajaja i do the same thing.

    just to listen

  • I remember way back that I had found "cheat codes" to this game. One of which had the file selection menu cycle through the song when you hit select, so alot of times I did it and cycled through with this being one of the ones I stayed on. I think it was something like down a right b y down a y. That or b a r r a l, though I think that was to the special stages with the mounts.

  • @Plunderflunder exactly mate, I think everyone was doing it :))

  • @Plunderflunder good thing they made the game so you could still pause n hear it ;]

  • one of the best songs from Donkey Kong for sure, this is one of the only games that was truely perfect on super nintendo the graphics where ahead of its time because they used a new at the time process to make the characters to the music.. the music blows people away!

  • I like all of the DK sound tracks but this one I personally liked the best.

  • I played a world that was hard, and it had this song in it.

  • Nossa!!

Jogo até hoje DK é um jogo muito foda!!!

E aínda por cima as músicas foram muito bem feitas para esse jogo! Totalmente perfeito!!

    Um abraço!!

  • Wow.... one of my favourites in this game along with the crystal caves!

  • they should make a dance song out of this its brilliant i remember this game the music is what made i think great game good memories.

  • someone already did it =D its called fear factory 2009 by CrimzonWolf777 on newgrounds

    newgroundscom /audio/listen/212261

  • I remember playing this on a snowy day when I was a little kid without a care in the world.

  • Yeah, I used to replay Black Out Basement to hear it too, I love this one!!

  • "WOW WHAT A GREAT INTRO! WOOOOW LOOK AT THAT REALISTIC EXPLOSION! WOW I CANNOT WAIT TO GET INTO THE GAME! *5 hours later* Uh finally into it push button to jump, wow look at that jump omg! Its like he has powers! Autoaim? Autofire? Wow! and he turned into a mutant and killed every bad guy around while i hold the button!! I wonder when the game is gonna start

    GAME OVER!

    Huh? What? What happened?

(YOU UNLOCK COMIC COVER 12345 and 6!)

  • Storyline of new games.

Help us! *insert "serious name" like Frank Crusher etc* The world is gonna explode in 20 hours!"

"*sigh* Okay, only since I am too bad ass"

"You may have won Johnny steel, but you wont beat the TRUE enemy in the sequel coming out in 11 years!"

"I am badass" *rips out guts of the enemy and eats his intestines to prove his bad ass skills*

"Goes home shooting people at random with his 4645543 new weapons you have seen in every other game ever"

  • Sounds like Duke Nukem or something.

  • Wow! I was thinking of duke nukem when I wrote it, weird.

Yeah except duke nukem was damn hard (in comparison to "doom games" at that time. And no hell if you win by holding the button pressed. And while the storyline rather sucked, you cant go wrong with babes.

  • One of the first games I remember playing when I was a kid was the sidescrolling DOS version of Duke Nukem. It was splendid.

  • Oh yes I remember both the first and the second, they where splendid indeed, in fact I believe they would have some gaming value even today.

  • This was gaming from the time where creators used all their skills in making great gameplay and excellent music.

    Now?

-Long ass storyline instead of gameplay! (yay!)

-99 percent of the games take themselves too serious! (yay?)

-SO REALISTIC GRAPHICS IT FEELS LIKE YOU ARE REALLY THERE! (...Nope it doesn't)

-Did i actually play this or was it just a long ass cutscene?

-MUSIC BY KNOWN BANDS! (so do not expect inspiration, variation, originality or something you did not hear on the radio yesterday)

  • My dad and I beat the game and OMG that was hard for him and me. We didn't use any cheats, mods or anything else with working on a game to beat it.

  • Best song of the game. I remember when I was little that I played this level every time all over again, just because of that nice song.

    Epic...

  • that song reminds me of my childhood...just fantastic

  • yeah sweet music-

  • This DK music is much better than the stuff you hear now lol.

  • @skateHYPE

    how bout returns?

  • @skateHYPE Yeah. I do agree with you. One of my favorite music ever.

  • I get so happy when i hear this...it might be one of the most cool themes ive heard

  • I bought them on my wii ^^

  • That would make a anwesome techno dancing song if remixed! =)

  • It already has been. Do a search for Industrial Fear OC Remix.

  • It's much better than the one used for Kong in Concert. bLiNd knows his stuff.

  • Good shout, this game had some underrated music for sure.

  • Fear Factory! I'm so glad this made the list.

  • Come on, lets be honest, there was no way it was not going to make it, now was there lol!

  • awesome... this was my favourite level

  • man I wanna play DKC on my SNES again ...sniff miss those days.Hey you know what somnebody should make a FEAR factory music video with DKC,not this song, but the band( one of their songs)wouldn't that be sweet!

  • Ha. First time I've heard this song in 13 years.

    Goosebumps.

  • Hey boy! Donkey Kong Country 2- did you include that game? ALL tunes in that game take you to another world.. It's very magical..

  • The DKC games really sported some sophisticated soundtracks. They fit really well though they almost shouldn't.

  • DKC OST is one of the best, if not the best soundtrack of the SNES games I can think of. It has more great songs than any other game. Don't think there's a bad song in the whole game!

  • Super Metroid and Final Fantasy III are better in my humble opinion. But the soundtrack for this game is good.

  • this music kinda reminds me of a hip unreal 1 soundtrack :P

  • I LOVE this song

  • man does that bring back memories

  • i still love these songs cuz they always seemed to good for the game, dont get me wrong the games were awesome, but the music always felt like it belonged in a more serious game

  • yeah like doom or suttin init rudeboi

  • I remember when I first saw DKC. I thought "this... is the most realistic game I have ever seen". Man, those were the days. 3D just isn't the same man. I wanted so badly for things to keep looking better. But now... I just want my snes!

  • @nintendork1982 snes was, will be, and will continue to be absolutely BEAST and the best system of all damn time!

  • @nintendork1982 Gah, things DO look better! I'm bored of old fogeys complaining about modern games, so bloody tiring.

  • DKC series songs were all awesome, except DKC3, whose themes were not that catchy.

You should've put some more DKC2 songs, they're the best!

  • I like the DK OST's, in special the OST of DK3. This song is the best of the DK1.

  • I could never beat this level, I always took the shortcut at the beginning but then I'd get stuck at the barrels with the flames shooting out.

  • i thought this was called blackout basement.

  • i think the level is called blackout basement but the song is called fear factory cuz i think its used in more than one lvl

  • Yes this is definitely dance music.

Skeptist: "Who dances to video game music?"

    Beleiver: "Who says we can't?!"

    ROCK ON FEAR FACTORY!!!

  • I hated this stage

  • nob head

  • Oh wow I haven't heard this song in so long and its as awesome as I remember it.

  • Should have been in brawl....

  • This was one of those songs that you just had to stand around at the beginning of the level to listen to before you started playing the game. This here is my favourite Donkey Kong song of the whole franchise.

  • Love this one, sound so dark and epic.

  • I would also kinda dance to this while I played, like I'm doing now :P Love this list thus far!

  • This music is awesome, I am happy with this countdown so far, not a single obscure track yet.

  • O: Its the level I can pass without stop running :D

    I like this song :P

  • The most annoying level was stop-and-go station X_X

  • yeah!! It drove me insane!!!

  • You could beat stop go station by simply walking back into the entrance takes you to the exit

  • but where is the fun in that?

  • at that time that was my only option had to get that past that annoying level!! :)

  • this is bg music at its finest!! one of my favorite of all time! thanks a million for posting! I wish i could get an mp3 of this..damn

  • This music is the epitome of excellence.

  • This theme reminds me of the bee hives in DKC2.

  • ahhaha yeah bee hives theme rulz too

  • I thought I was the only one who loved this track ^_^. Can't wait to see what else is on your top list!
