  • i dispise everything rap represents! all i hear is talk! and i stress that the english language has been brutally chewed and stepped all over. wtf do you mean i likeded that or after every sentence comes 'you know what i'm sayin? like we're to stupid to know what you are saying, so you have to ask! dumb asses!!!! i hate to think that these assholes will be representing our country. they can;t even speak the language! the 70's was the time to live in! these kids are friggin clueless!

  • @wildbill259

Damn, smoke a joint and chill the fuck out.

  • @wildbill259 I tell you sometimes I feel as if I'm in a world all alone. You are dead on my friend. How bout when you're standing 2 feet away and they ask, "You heard me"? It's absolutely horrible whats happened to this country! And this rap bullshit, mother fucka mother fucka, nigga nigga nigga! I buss a cap in dat ass, on the real nigga. If I had the cash, I'd buy me a chopper, fly deep into the mountains. Build a cabin and disappear. Glad to know there are still sane people out there!

  • If you did not like the music in the 70's you moved to the pub/disco (I don't think they called them "clubs" back then) next door. Or waited a year and a new style of music would soon come along.

  • Great tune! Haven't heard this in a long time. Thnx for posting...

  • 16 motherfuckers couldn't get it right!!

  • YES RAP BLOWS!

  • Whenever it gets a little to heavy I turn the dial back to the 70's. I feel buzzed and mellow again. Yeah. We used dials back in the 70's.

  • Astroworld... Houston, Texas... it was summer and me and Dana where on our first date. God what i would do to go back to '75. Miss you sweetheart.

  • I need more COWBELL! (and yeah, I know this isn't THAT song...) LOL

  • You can enjoy this great music/band without trashing what other people like.

  • :o) i jammed on this when i was a kid in the 1970's ~

  • I didn't really get into this song back when it was on the radio..But i didn't change the station either..Guess u had to be living in the 70's to understand what I'm saying

  • just listen to this great music and stop bringing politics into everything what the fuck

  • @alster071

Unfortunately stupid people with political agendas have the same access to the web as the rest of us. I completely agree with your "what the f***"

  • Outstanding! Thanks for posting.

  • @jimmyjames6440 and @Tori6250 You're both just as dumb. You think he didn't WORSEN the economy and unemployment? You can want him re-elected all you want. Don't expect it to mean anything. He blindly set himself up as a target. Birth certificate under ivestigation? One lie after another? Illegal wars, cutbacks galore, solar power? Half of this country is illegals as a crutch for votes? Maybe that's your kind of nigtardolgy leadership.

  • @wyecee You're a fucking idiot

  • Yea dont blame Obama is was handed a dish of SHIT!!!!! I vote 4 him again yes indeed!

  • @Tori6250 You really do believe everything they tell you on The View don't you?

God help us with voters like you out there.

  • @MarkQuinn2k7

You get a thumbs up for the "The View" comment.

  • I remember being very drunk......... in a nightclub...

and then this song just came on... and stuck....... forever!

  • I love this song!!!!!! So true!!!! but they couldn't get it right??

  • I haven't heard this song for almost 40 years! Thanks for the great memories!

  • I can never get it right, perfect song for me.

  • One of my top five all time favorite songs.

  • Play this as a victory dance hit like a '70's party when Broke Obshitma gets bashed on as he's out in 2013. "I couldn't get it riiiight, I said I couldn't get it right".

  • @wyecee Don't blame obama for a already messed up nation. All presidents have had problems controlling this economy

  • 16 Knuckleheads could`nt get right!!

  • I thought this was sly and the family stone that sang this song.

  • fat

  • really gay

  • Queer

  • Why do people insist on pointing out how many people dislike the music. I believe everyone is capable of reading the numbers for themselves, if they so choose. Come on folks. Lets put a little bit of thought and originality into our comments. The dislike comment has been old, tired and over used for a very long time. The only original thought is how you are going to insult them. What's worse is the fact that the "top comment" is about the number of dislikes. It is a sad state of affairs.

  • drunken summer of 77...very drunken. loved this tune then, still love it now.

  • LMAO!!

  • @SmellsLikeFish1000 i dont agree with the stevie wonder line, but yeah, this is a GREAT memory lane song

  • This song hits the spot

  • 16 people didn't see the light

  • Actually, Saturday Night Live did the cowbell. Blue Oyster Cult used a wood block. The wood block needs more respect.

  • This song does for the wood block what "Don't Fear the Reaper" did for the cowbell. I gotta have more wood block !

  • @jamo387 It took a lot of sanding to get the tone of the wood block just right.

  • What great memories!!! This reminds me of hot 70's summer nights driving with my T-tops off my Trans Am...THOSE were the days ;) Thats all im say'n

  • @mblessing1009 Yep...those days listening to great music cruisin in my piece of crap wishin i had a Trans-Am

  • really brings back the memories. thanks...

  • hey this song should be the theme for our Congress..unfortunately it's not a joke.

  • I feel like i'm listening to the radio as a kid...awesome thanks for posting

  • Lenny Kravitz could've had another hit covering this tune! The original is the best though!

  • love this song !!!!! my uncle had this album, he was a musican played every thing now hes big into jazz!!!!! play the flute & sax !!!!

  • Many 70's songs seem to bridge between the harmonics of the 50s/60s and the more guitar-driven modern rock that followed. This is one of them. Love it!

  • @oldenmcgroen, are we related?! I spent all my summers south of tyler and went to sfa in the 80's.....don't ya kind miss those crazy days? Still love the pineywoods, nothing like it. :-)

  • How about uploading Savry Gravy?

  • o i big lad

  • @mrmcallisterd How about Grovey situation?

  • Love this song. Cool tune. I remember it when I was a kid. Loved it.

  • Very cool groove, if you know what I mean.

  • What a FUNKY time! Just love this song.

  • "I need more cowbell!" What a great song!

  • @PSS1014 I've got a fever too, and the only perscription is MORE COWBELL, baby. LOL

  • Oh lords...and suddenly, I'm back in Florida...Gulf of Mexico...watching the water while this song drifts from the radio. Music is magic, guys...

  • @DarkSenir "I gotta fevah!...and the only puhscription is more...."

  • @morpheusathame Probably not, but my hometown is Tyler. Family still lives there. I, however, have not lived there in 30+ years. Haven't lived in Texas in almost 10 yrs. I'm still a "Texan", always will be no matter where I lay my head. I love where I live now, it's very beautiful this time of year (or anytime of the year) but my heart is in the Lone Star State. Lakes Tyler, Palestine, Fork, Tawakoni, and Tyler State Park were regular haunts for me back in the day.

  • Love it big time!!!!!

  • Walter Bishop couldn't get it right.

  • Finally found the sign, saw the light, and made it through the night. Only trouble is I liked it better before I got it right, so would now like to go BACK. Oh well...

  • Thumbs up if Fringe S04 E04 brought you here. ;-)

  • I usually listened to the Greatest Hits of the 70s when I used local radio, but I just heard this for the first time on Sirius 70s on 7. Thanks satelite radio!

  • WoW!! The very 1st song i learned all the way through on cowbell..

  • They got it right with this song. Timeless....

  • @1761Charlie: They had another, even better hit.. "I Love You"

  • @LazyAssBar Yes I know. I had tried to do a lyric search but I could not remember ONE single word of the song. I could only remember the song lyrics while I was asleep! That is what was driving me mad!

  • @gal80s OMG I also just found this song by doing a search based on piecing together what lyrics I remembered of this song.

  • @checkerphil Glad to know you had a similar experience! Rock on!

  • One of the first songs I learned how to play all the through...

    Awesome memories ! !

  • Great tune, Thanx for the post. I agree sela3167, 14 people cant get it right

  • fun times

  • What a great song!

  • ok everybody get your bellbottom pants, huge collar silk shirt and stacks out and,,,,,LETS BOOGIE!!!!!

  • How could they get it so right? . . . and then . . . nothing . . . just about a perfect (one hit wonder) single.

  • Love it

  • When I was growing up (in the 70s) when this song was popular, I never thought we would have computers as we have them now. I was around 16 at the time. There were good times though, and especially Stereos. I really enjoyed this song. There was more freedom in the seventies.

  • I love this song! Needs more cowbell.

  • 14 STUPID PEOPLE!

  • I Believe In Unicorns

  • country band jumpin on the disco bandwagon! & it worked

  • all but twelve are stoned right now..

  • Heard this week that the guy that sang the lead vocal on this track has died....great shame. RIP. Cheers..............

  • well said@johano9026

  • I LOVE THIS.

  • 14 people couldn't get it right

  • @sela3167 omfg you are so clever..........

  • This is just plainly cool, end of story.

  • MORE COW BELL DAMN IT!

  • This was THE coolest song of the '70's. OK, second coolest after Steely Dan's "Peg".

  • @SiglundR

That would be hard to quantify, there were so many, but I'd so that you're close to being right.

70's & 80's ruled for me! Today's music is so utterly useless, much likes tit's on a bore-hog!

  • @n8tureboy i wouldnt say todays music is horrible. I would however say 99% of it is. Theres some pretty good bands out there that just dont get much recogniton such as pinback.

  • @freeribs LOL!

Dude, 99% is darned close to 100%.

I know what you're saying though. There is some redeeming music being played out there these days just none of it on the mainstream channels.

I'm happily stuck in the era of 1965-1990 musically. Cheers!

  • Where did the great songs like this go?

  • 70's Are the best,,

  • 10th grade, East Texas, reminds me of heading out to the lake on the weekend. Chasing girls, taking chances, acting a fool and livin' large. Love my 70's.

  • @oldenmcgroen I'm from Deep East Texas. I had already graduated by this time. You bet good memories on Lake Sam Rayburn! Wish I could still wear my Levi"s Big Bells.Lol!

  • @oldenmcgroen Where in East Texas? We're probably related :)

    Sulphur Springs...

  • @oldenmcgroen reminds me of the same thing except the lake was in north eastern Montana. Loved your comment and I also love the 70's

  • @oldenmcgroen 70's set a pace children of today cant keep up with.. so they evolved into rap.. I HATE RAP..

70's rock was the foundation of artistic instrumentation and lyrics meant to heal the soul and lift spirits...

RAP just portrays bling and glitter.. RAP SUCKS..

  • @davfrui just as with other things in this world, rap is multi-facted. Rap, just as rock in the 70's, speaks for those who couldn't always speak for themselves. You cant take one variation of rap and apply it to the entire genre and culture. That's musical bigotry. You can hate what you want, be it rap or country western, but come up with a better reason than it "just portrays bling and glitter".

  • @davfrui .....Agree!!!

  • @davfrui You generalize. You should be ashamed of yourself if you were actually a true music lover.

  • @davfrui Okay, you hate rap, but that doesnt mean, that rap isnt good. Thats just your problem, so shut the fuck up and listen!

  • @baracker1 piss off faggot. rap can lick my chode

  • @irishmerit Come on, just because you dont like some genres, that doesnt mean that they suck. Obviously, you think that hundreds of millions people, who lilsten to rap music are faggots.

  • @baracker1

actually i like rap - i just think you are a shit faced faggot. get it right you dumb shit

  • @irishmerit They beat your ass a lot, at school, right?

  • @davfrui hip hop today is mostly shabby shit. BUT, hip hop released in the 80s and early 90s, and a handful of stuff still released today is amazing. this song is amazing, the band is amazing, but hip hop can be just as good, widen your music taste...

  • @davfr your statement is invalid. i am 15 and i love 70's music. i grew up with it and ill die with it. i also enjoy rap; not that new era shit, im talking about Wu tang clan, Tupac, etc. what im trying to say is there are thousands, maybe millions just like me.

  • Takes us back, 9th grade for me

  • great tune

  • Where's the "LOVE" button???!

  • yes summer of 77 was great

  • For all my friends at the Hut

  • 15 people just cany get it right

  • Excellent song from the 70's that has aged very well.

  • Last week I took some LSD and I thought the picture with the repeating guitarist hand was part of the trip, but I guess I was wrong, but I highly recommend it if its good LSD to listen to this song while tripping or sober

  • I have always loved this song. It's one of those songs that has to be loud in the car.

  • bob the butler

  • Didn't even grow up in that era and I still appreciate this music♥

  • Christopher Walken says " We need MORE cowbell !! "....

  • very sweet '

  • 15 people couldn't get it right.

  • I played this album a lot during my parties at college in the late 70's and it used to amaze me the number of people who had never heard of CBB. I guess that was because it didn't get top 40 airplay. I still love the innerplay between the sax and the guitar and what a guitar it was. It was said that Ike Turner (of Ike and Tina Turner Review) really coveted Haycock's custom gold plated guitar.

  • @musicnut1986 This cut didn't get enough airplay because the "hitmakers" decided that CBB's cheesy ballad "I Love You," its actual name, would go farther as a single. A lot of good album tracks never or rarely hit the airwaves for the same reason.

  • I bought this on 45 when it first came out. Still love it to this day. For those of you who tell the tale of hearing it on the radio and trying to find out the name, there was another song that came out around the same time (1976ish) by a Dutch band called Kayak called "I Want You To Be Mine." Look that one up. I think you'll dig it too.

  • @chuckpadgettmusic i looked up that kayak shit it was horrible!!! no wonder i never herd of them they just couldnt get it right!!!

  • @brownrider56 Ahahah! I just looked at your list of favorites and I completely understand why you feel that way. You like rap instead of music! oXHeavenSentXo, WiIIsy, funlovingreek2008, wilmington97 and birdhunter50613 are all pretty much have you pegged. You really should work on your people skills! :D

  • @brownrider56 Oh, and one more thing. It's "heard" not "herd" unless you're planning on rounding up the band in a field. Look who couldn't get it right! :D

  • @chuckpadgettmusic Good luck correcting some of these spelling challenged people. "My breaks failed when I had the petal to the meddle." And then, the most misspelled according to usage, "there, their and they're". Not forgetting, "too, to and two."

  • @jackassin44 He he. Seriously! "You're and your" as well. What are (or aren't) they teaching in schools these days? But I usually only bust someone's chops if they are trolling one of my comments so it really doesn't take much of my time.

  • @chuckpadgettmusic sorry...replied to jackassin b4 i read your reply! ...but check out what else i put... ;)

  • @jackassin44 how about "your & you're"?

...then of course, there is the "new" MAJOR error: putting an apostrophe before EVERY SINGLE "S" at the end of a word!! AARRGGHH!!!!!!!

  • @jackassin44

Don't forget ".loser and looser " , but don't dare correct anyone or you'll be called a grammar nazi....or as I was once called ..a gramer nazi lol

  • awsome song!!!

  • i had the same experience. I tried to guess the name just to look for it in you tube. I want to have it in my radio all day. COULDNT GET IT RIGHT

  • Almost fell off my chair and wet my pants when I saw the cowbell comment. ROFLMBO! This song rocks!

  • @ChuckNorrisKratosLOL Glad to know I was not alone in this quest for finding the name of this song!!!

Your comment made me laugh!!! Cheers!

  • boy this really takes me back to when i wasn't born yet...this is a great song

  • @wywygriff20 lmao!

  • @wywygriff20 LMAO

  • I got a fever and the only prescription is?

  • not enough "freakin cowbells" ...lmao :)

  • Funky

  • The Fun Lovin Criminals version of this song on their 'Mimosa' album is waaay better than the original. Huey is GOD!

  • @Outkast111 oh behave yourself you mug

  • gal80s - you communicate your desires SO well.......you're crazy and brilliant. Keep it up girl:)

  • 14 people kept on looking for a sign in the middle of the night, but couldn't see the light, and couldn't get it right.

  • Oh this got it right!

  • this is good shit sou shut the f up!

  • the difference between today's music and this music is that this music actually took talent to sing, today artist just talk into a computer and let other people make them sound good.

  • No matter what anyone will tell you the 70's ROCKED....!!!

  • top gear used it also in the british leyland challenge, nice song
