I think you can see that here. Shay asks strangers questions, and he gets polite answers. People are more "guarded," because in any densely populated city there are more nuts and crooks, but they are always willing to help those who are not "nuts or crooks" and they have developed a 6th sense for distinguishing the nuts and crooks from the merely hapless like Shay. :)

My Dad was born in Harlem and lived there until the 1950s.  I've been to Manhattan many times, but not in years. This video brings back memories, thanks Shay.

I'm in Chicago now which is a great city too, but definitely the "Second City" after NYC. Of course, that makes LA number 3. It may be larger than Chicago, technically, but there are only two REAL "metropolises" in the U.S.

New York City and Chicago. Both have great skylines.
