i'm 21 yrs old and play basketball. my knee cracks every step i take when i walk, but when i run its perfectly normal. can anyone tell me what this is?
@SillyBoyBlue83 1 day and I was out of hospital. It might have been earlier but I have 2 other operations. I honestly find that my knee is such at benefit now and I'm hoping to run in the new year. I'm so happy and without pain now. It will feel quite tight and like a ripping sensation but it's Ok. Give it a few weeks and you will be well on your mend.
On average how long is the recovery period for this surgery? Let's say someone has this surgery next month, will the knee be back at 100% by next September if everything goes well?
My dad has this done on thursday - he had torn cartilage in his left knee and was causing him pain so he had the op done and now he's gonna be on crutches till next weekend :) *th may)
I've had 5 of these. I damaged my knee 40 years ago, now I need to have it cleaned because I love hiking. I'm so used to it, that I usually schedule it for a Friday, so I can go back to work on Monday. I will need a replacement knee soon, but after being scoped the knee feels great for a year or so. It's a simply and painless operation. A few hours of pain meds, and you're on the road again. Don't fear this proceedure, welcome it.
This knee surgery medical animation is so helpful in understanding this procedure. When the doctor tells you the surgery is minimally invasive, only seeing is believing!
I had ACL surgery on June 17,2011. But my knee crack and pop when I walk and step . Tell me what is it?

Not when it's torn
When I tore my MCL they had me in there for a week.
Recovery time on the other hand wasn't that long considering that it was only about six weeks.

would an MRI scan diagnose any cartilage damage? I've got an MRI scan due soon and I just hope that it discovers what's wrong my sodding knee.

this is a very interesting medical animation- I had no idea they could go in with such small instruments to extract part of the damaged menisci
