I play the bari sax and i have wished for a really long time to get one of these. The only thing is that they cost roughly $30k. I contacted the german manufacturer who makes the best looking and sounding contrabass Oh, and the subcontrabass sax is smaller since it is coiled around multiple times, making it smaller and thus saving tons of space. AND this is nowhere near the largest sax ever made.

um i think that the name for the subcontrabass sax is called the tubax. it is 4'7'' and one octave lower than a bass sax. Meanwhile, the contrabass sax is 6'4'' and is one octave lower than a bari sax. i play bari sax.

As a saxophonist of 30 yrs myself, I can confirm that developing that much flexibility on such an unwieldy member of the Sax family is no small feat. I have a Bflat Bass Sax, and that is a monster itself, let alone the Contrabass!

That is huge but there is a sax that is even larger than that called the sub contrabass.

Sub contrabasses have been designed, but none of the "subcontras" have been true saxophones. One was an oversized alto, another was incapable of playing a simple scale (It COULD generate sound, though.)

The BBBb Tubax is the closest to a subcontrabass there is.

I don't think it stays an entire octave under the bariotne sax. The "Tubax" (a saxophone bigger than contrabass sax) stays an entire octave under the bari sax.

i am sorry to say that the contrabass is much bigger than the BBb tubax. The contrabass is a complete octive lower than bari and a complete two octives lower than the alto while the tubax or subcontrabass is an octive lower than that of the bass sax and two octives lower than the tenor and three lower than soprano
