  • Unique... Hendrix would be impressed..Ian's taken some slack so has John but there is no-one out there like the original line-up...unless you could get Nirvana to reform! Ian can sign when he can be bothered.

  • 773,773

  • I know everybody seems to hate Second Coming, but from what I've heard of it so far on this track it seems pretty class!

  • killer.

  • @damo185x The lyrics, written by John Squire, are an attack on the traditional image of Jesus. Squire portrays the crucifixion of the Messiah with a black woman on the cross. This continued the band's theme of questioning the depiction of Christ, which first appeared on the track, "I Am The Resurrection." (according to Wikipedia).

  • @damo185x it's about what if Jesus was a black woman. Get yourself £20

  • Pause at 1:38 if you wanna be scarred.

  • wow..long-time,no~hear)))Cool!

  • Stone Roses and Justin BIeber for ever!!!! lol no way.... just the roses...

  • @MrSwingerzgz

  • Stone Roses and Justin BIeber for ever!!!!

  • 2nd best guitar intro ever

  • unfortunately this what an implosion sounds like, beginning of the end for the most influential band since Led Zep . Fuckin still kick it though

  • Favourite Stone Roses song of all time. Riff at the start gives me shivers, Big Time =)

  • Wasn't this song on Entourage?

  • justin bieber was here

  • it's a shame there isn't a love option as well as like or dislike button.

  • One of the few truly perfect songs of the rock era.

  • @papaclanc Funny because it is pretty much a copy of Voodoo Chile

  • @Bulldog22031 It def DOES have some similarity, eh? SVR was deeply influential, no doubt. Never noted the connection before. Thanks.

Still, I dont think a judge would be awarding any profits from the sale of Love Spreads to SVR's estate. It aint THAT close (unlike The Verve losing their lawsuit to the Stones for example).

  • @papaclanc *facepalm* HENDRIX wrote Voodoo Chile

  • buenismos!!!!!

  • They shouldn't have broken up at all

  • This song rocks!!! Reminds me of Oz in '96.... Stil contemporary

  • God, fucking goosebumps listening to this:( Madchester, e's, bucket hats, baggies, god damn I feel old:( The old days were definately the gold days:(

  • @ralucagymnast hahaha snap.I admit i had a bowl cut, baggies and doing things i shouldnt of been :D happy days the manc scene was the place.

  • What album is this from?

  • @courte28 It sounds similar to Driving South. And very different from their very first album.

I assume this must be from the album "Second Coming" (1994)

  • If I were a radio station owner this song would be in everyday's tracklist.

  • this clip was on a beavis & butthead episode..... represent!

  • speaking about music Greece votes for Great Britain and NOT USA. 90% of people i know agree on this. Europe is our playground!

  • @jkar1973 Grow up you Twat

  • inspiral carpets , mooo!

  • It's funny how this page turned into a polemical rant between a number of users and the song utterly forgotten. Ho hum. Frogs legs for tea!

  • great vid the good old days

  • @MarkoMashja Yeah!

  • classic jam.

  • I need a timemachine ! Take me back to this

  • great song....like a LED's song.....very good.....

  • come on the roses!legends!!!!!!

  • Go on John Squire great tune. Despite Ian Brown being a wee monkey ned they are still a great band. very underatted in my opinion and easily the best band on their scene at the time but also liked James, Charlatans and Happy Mondays.

  • Their one and only hit, though apparently they were popular on the rave curcuit in England prior.

  • @JackOfferlott

Yes, and they were bloody good as well.

  • @JackOfferlott

this was like nowhere near a hit off their second album, practically every song off the first was HUGE!!! and still relevant today!

A little bit of wikipedia research goes a long way mate!

  • @JackOfferlott @JackOfferlott

this was like nowhere near a hit off their second album, practically every song off the first was HUGE!!! and still relevant today!

A little bit of wikipedia research goes a long way mate!

  • @rim22 Very reliable, that wikipedia...

Anyway, I was referring to America, the only country that matters. Here, a "mate" refers to a significant other. I definitely am not that to you. I demand proper hygiene of prospective romantic partners. Oh, and I'm not a fruit. That kind of stuff doesn't fly here in America. No offense, Nigel...

  • @JackOfferlott who gives a f**k about america this is a british band and here your name means wanker.so bang one out buddy boy!!!!!!!

  • @ballooskii

Oh my gosh, I think he might get the joke behind my name. Impressive for a backward little primitive from an obsolete society within a decayed country.

Who gives a fuck about America? You should. We kicked your ass twice, then bailed you out with the Krauts twice. If it weren't for us, you'd be sprechen sie deutsch.

Brush your teeth, wash your hair, and learn to speak English, you homo-loving, turd-eating, third-world, insignificant little fag (and I don't mean cigarette).

  • @JackOfferlott You're a prick... Go an' be an Imbred somewhere else please... Just don't do it here, this is a music video, not a History Lesson.

  • @JackOfferlott

Funny comment 'cuz'. But when you kicked our ass you did have home advantage. Also, when America was founded they were going to make German the official language, but eventually chose English (you guys were clever back then), so you could say that if it wasn't for us...

  • @JackOfferlott Charming!!

  • your the kind of idiot who thinks mighty obama will come and lead you to glory when in actual fact he's already fucked you over on numerous occasions, your country's broke, you have no money. and you need to get your historical facts right , realise that germany were losing both wars when you arrived, you got there near end, and lets not forget you couldn't even beat the primitive japs if it werent for a germans bomb, americas always been a low scale oppurtunistic country, it's far from great...

  • @danathor99

Lay off the drugs. Decadence is what rendered your people the subhuman wastes that they are today. Have fun putting the pieces together within your devolved society and your delusional psychosis.

  • @JackOfferlott hahahaha typical, you have nothing to say cause you're in the wrong so you take a stab at a random society that i may or may not belong to?? don't try and be clever, your some typical american trying to big himself up over the internet, from a psychological view it says alot about your self, i suggest you shut up rather than continuing your failed arguement, you utter loser.

  • @danathor99

It's "You are", not "your". YOU ARE an illiterate little peon that matters not in the grand scheme of life. You have nothing to contribute to the conversation, so you rant your pithy delusions of grandeur however poorly constructed. You figure that by barking louder, people will ignore the fact that you're a loser. The fact is that I'm not scared of an impotent little coward like you. Name the place, and I'll meet you face to face. You lack the fortitude and we all know.

  • @JackOfferlott oh dear, you have nothing better to do with your life, am i right?

  • @JackOfferlott ....you're an idiot.....shut the fuck up.

  • @JackOfferlott You cunts can only make films about war - nd change the historical content because your so pathetically intent on being seen as worthy. You got utterly defeated by primitive straw chewing chinks in Vietnam!! You can't even invent your own language and you wouldn't spout none of that shit over here you fat american wanker. Go lose weight, learn to spell and carry on sucking you old mans cock. Your country contributes nothing but the hot dog. Mug

  • @kamelion7

Please - I live in this country of "primitive straw chewing chinks", am married to a "primitive straw chewing chink", and have children who are therefore half "primitive straw chewing chinks." As it stands I'm also playing this song during class registration to 18 "primitive straw chewing chinks." Magnificent country full of magnificaent people. Comments such as yours remind me why I don't return to the UK. Shame really. Why do you feel the need to spout such hatred?

  • @SaigonPapaSan Its called redirection. If you read earlier comments on here then you will doubtless understand. I find it hard to believe that a comment would make you avoid an entire country - you need to toughen up and give it back, otherwise you get walked all over, Ask the American cunt below

  • @SaigonPapaSan Half chips half rice?

  • @JackOfferlott The language your speaking is called English for a reason... work it out. So glad all americans are not such prissy nit picking queers...Its the internet not English ed!

  • @danybee23

    *you're

  • @danybee23

    Who won the war...twice...yeah....thought so.

  • @JackOfferlott pretty mature

  • @JackOfferlott u mean that corrupt government lying, manipulating shits other than that i like america a lot of good folks came out of ur country but really man come on we worked as a team u have to realise tthe brittish fought tthe germans for years and america know themselves what effect long wars can have on a nation. also u gotta respect the size of our country in relation to our enemies. so lets enjoy the music with a bit of mutual respect for each other. music has no nationality

  • f**k some1 sed oasis

  • I didn't know Liam Gallagher was in a band before Oasis. That is so cool.

  • @Robohump LOL - you're taking trolling to a whole new level :-)

  • This band were better than that depressing hype late '94. Too much pressure on them.

  • one of the greatest bands of all time despite only 2 albums. the 1st was a masterpiece. madchester will never b equalled. break it down mr. brown like only u can.

  • my sister's legs spread

  • @WKaliberr we all know that

  • What an epic song! Wow...

  • love this. seconds only to the

    great inspiral carpets..

  • I know that this is a madchester song but it sounds too grungy!!

  • They obviously listened to Led Zeppelin, it shows in that intro - man, I love real rock n roll. Ian is rad.

  • please no hateful responses this is only my opinion BUT this to me is like indie rock's answer to Soundgarden

  • This song and album remind me of hot hot sunny days and the first iraqi war. Manchester rules. Peace out.

  • Shes my seester awesome

  • All I have to say is great Fucking song! Love it the first time I heard it and still do.

  • gran pezzo!

  • Guitar hero have RUENED THIS SONG (but is sill amzing)

  • listen not to your leader.........follow your own beliefs

  • @sraverty071374

Wow. Funny how a completely grammatically incorrect sentence can change ones perspective on a whole set of lyrics. That just makes the song even more amazing.

  • what a tune, up there wae the best

  • Cool song. To bad musicians or wanna-be musicians feel the need to act like a-holes because they know how to pluck an insturment. Because you guys picked it up to brag you can actually play it and not for the music right?

  • @LookSquirrel - I can actually play a few of musical instruments but I still like to play guitar hero - just while you're playing, don't forget to actually learn the guitar, especially since someone who can play well on guitar hero just might be able to play well in real life. Guitar hero is about fun and music, guitars are about personal expression and oneness with the vibrations in the universe. Lol. They're just two different things I think. Balance....

  • epic guitar skills....

  • .... love spreads....in my face

  • the Messiah is my sister :D

my brother sings it to me sometimes and it's cool :D

  • @ciluvagyok HAHAHAHAH.....Wonderful!!!

    :D

  • great track!

  • Cock stiffening, pussy dampening guitar work at it's dirty fuckin' best ..."Let me put you in the picture ..Let me show you what I mean.."

  • @weecoby3 Disciple!!!! You speak the truth. Your soul shal be bathed in eternal light grant unto you eternal grooveness

  • guitar hero is the bane of the new generation people too lazy or have short attention spans to learn a real instrement .....love this song ..yeah yeah yeah.

  • Euphoric anthem. This should NEVER be forgotten, put all Stone Roses tunes in a time capsule.

  • got a little Moby Dick riffage going on in there as well

  • Oh yeah, I just noticed

  • yes... well spotted

  • This song the first time I heard the impact and I like a lot because I have a very good sound and great lyrics too. It was and still are an awesome group!!

  • Bad ass riffage.

  • @01stursa baddas slidage

  • This song is great. Takes quite a few elements from Voodoo Chile (slight return)

  • My thoughts exactly; I think thats why its so great, it does sound A LOT like it.

  • i love this song!!!!!!

  • Where the fuck is Mani these days? Not like you would know, but I wonder. He is just as cool as Ian, damnit!!!

  • @swingersonian He plays at the band: Primal Scream these days.

  • Comment removed

  • i thuoght it was a goog album not

as good as the first but also very differrent

    albums

  • This song is immense. The instrumentation on it is AMAZING - the guitar gets most of the focus because there's so much of it, but the bass and drums form one of the best rhythm tracks laid down by a British band EVER.

  • RoxaPax4: no, you don't play shit, fuckface.

  • You don't "play" a "song" on Guitar Hero. Please, do it properly and get a real guitar.

  • Hey, genius! I play a real drum =D

  • You don't "play" a drum. You bang it in rhythm with the real musicians that drummers hang out with.

  • Could you do better dickweed

  • Yes, mate. I've been playing guitar for some eight years now.

  • @Lysimachus

    Let's not get elitist now.

  • You say that's elitist?

I can think of a lot more activities in life worth devaluing as elitist, than responding to someone about whether or not I can do better than bang a drum in the correct tempo (which I can, as it happens).

Such as... claiming I have evident and newsworthy skill because I can "play" Guitar Hero. I say it's more worthwhile in life learning an instrument.

    Do you challenge that belief?

  • @Lysimachus

I honestly don't want to involve myself too deeply with this, but I assumed you were responding to the person that commented that he played this on Guitar Hero. A lot of things could be considered worthwhile in life than other things right? I mean, I could go out and eat ice cream for breakfast, or I could eat something healthy... so what would be more 'worthwhile'? It's absolutely subjective. What I disagreed with was the 'do it properly' part. He wants to play his/her game.

  • And what, going out to eat ice cream would be worth sullying eyes with on the internet?

I'm putting forward the idea that nobody values comments that appraises Guitar Hero, but if someone says "oh yeah man i can totally play this song on guitar on stage" then at least it's partially admirable. Not really worth my time either, but at least it's not someone bragging about Guitar Hero.

Jesus, I could bear reading someone's tales about him playing with Knopfler on stage, but not Guitar Hero.

  • it seems more that you are trying to validate your choice by degrading some one elses. if you both enjoy your chosen path then let it be, playing a real guitar is far more talented and admirable in my eyes but if some people dont have to desire or talent to attain the same level of acheivment then why not them enjoy the guitar threw their chosen medium. it is all subjective!

  • @playityourway Your username is fitting for this subject. I've nothing wrong with someone who likes to play Guitar Hero. It'll just never succeed the real thing. Unfortunately maybe this is how the future will be like.

  • @Lysimachus You play 'levels' and 'maps' in other games. Get over it.

  • @4u5zding0 'Levels'? 'Maps'? Who are you quoting here? Having presumption sarnies for tea, are we? Let me do some presuming then:

I presume you're likening me to an ignorant tabloid journalist who spills "VIDEOGAMES TRAIN KIDS TO KILL" bullshit on front pages. Not an hour ago the only bad thing about videogames that passed through my mind was that I've overused my PS3 (it's overheating like hell now, sounds like a traction engine when it's on).

  • @Lysimachus I was using your pretentious quotations in a sarcastic response to your pap. I like your extraneous second paragraph, where you make the assumption that I assumed. I just wanted to give you a rev, because I'm tired of people getting prickish about Guitar Hero. Pommie troll, go away.

  • @Lysimachus 100% agreed!

  • @Lysimachus Fuck you shit head. It's a video game you dumb fuck. You do "play" a "song." Are you so ignorant that you don't know that you *play* video games? They are simulation you stupid shit. Fucks like you sicken me.

  • @Amt2451 I play videogames too. Don't jump to conclusions.

  • @Lysimachus annoying comment. No one's claiming they're a musician by playing Guitar Hero but what else can you say besides "play"? Just let people enjoy the music whatever way they know how.

  • @Lysimachus Yes you do, spiccy bitch

  • @Lysimachus Got the drums down on REAL drums and got the bass down on a '64 Fender...the guitar riffs are tougher than nails on the Ibanez... Rock on! And put down that silly video game lamos!

  • @TheTommyize

:) Glad to hear it, rock on man!

  • @Lysimachus funny that you actually have to point that out, I see less and less kids with guitars compared to my generation

  • Gorillaz stole the vocal melody from 1:45 though I can't remeber which song they used it in.

  • 19-2000

    I thought it sounded familiar.

  • aw man im loving the guitar in this awesome Stone Roses song.. i miss them so much :(

  • though it's 5 minutes long, after the first minute, i feel like i've heard the whole tune, which is a shame cos it gets more interesting 2 minutes in - nice dropouts n builds n piano etc.

the guitar riff is fuckin relentless though, i feel like someone has liquidised a gibson les paul and injected it into my brain.

  • i used to love this when it came out, but listening to it now it sounds too full-on - endless riffola and everything just chucked in from the beginning. it seems like, although the whole world then was gagging for new roses material, they still had to bend over and go for the super-radio friendly approach. i blame geffen.

  • I'd disagree, this song is hadly Radio friendly. Give this to your average radio listener and they'd start crying

  • "Bestykid1": whatever, shithead

  • bring up the woooze lets start this party over

    great song !

  • That song remind me something... Didn't remember... Great anyway!

  • FUCKIN LEGENDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great tune

  • Sanguru needs to get a clue and stop typing 500 word paragraphs. No one cares and Billy Idol is a hack who hasnt done squat in 25 years.

  • it´s great!!!

  • you have just wasted about 6 minutes of your life harping on to people who JUST DONT GIVE A FUCK turkey breath

  • an all time classic, still cool as fuck, makes me proud to be from the north. up Madchester.

  • Don't you ever come to Weiherhammer...!!

  • Ian still has a successful career. As far as I know The Stone Roses weren't a dance band. What would you expect him to do on stage, break dance. get with the program Sanguru.

  • never thougth it was a dancing competition judge his music not dancing,if you want that watch take that.

  • Hi Jodi!

You too...? You too wanna get me wrong? I am not saying "dancing-the-classical-stage-way". Not "Madonna-dancing" for boy-bands sake! Just..., common, you can't be that blind. Please just watch any,...aaaaany Roses-video and stay objectiv. What do you see? A front man? A cool guy? The "dancing" I meant could be just some cool moves - stepping is another stage. I assume you're all hard-core fans. Sad left-over salmon from the 80's, drinking your green tea from Stone Roses cups. Jodiiii?

  • @Sanguru100 brown held the stone roses back? ok dont get me wrong the roses were amazing but browns career after the roses has been absolutely stellar. His vocals are amazing, such a distinctive voice. And by the way, he's not fucking bez mate, he's a SINGER!!!!!!!!!!! he SINGS!!!!!!!!! who gives a fuck how he moves, he's a born performer, and he knows it. You my friend, are a spamming cunt

  • No matter pal, this sanguru guy didn't realize that Ian is NOT justin timberlike. NOBODY gives a fuck how he dancing and shake his ass.

  • Dear SOUR, why are you so unhappy and rough? It is not my mistake, that you were born into northern English poverty, while I drive my Aston Martin and wear Kashmir underwear (winter). "Shaking his ass...?" Doo-doo-doo! Of course you care how "Brownie" moves his booty. As much as I do. We both care - can't you see? That's what we are here for! I do not feel for 'Polio Brown', I do feel for his band mates who lost a career. I wonder? Has Brown no manager to tell him what a stage requires...??

  • Hello Mister Dave Clarke, thank you for responding that quickly. Please accept my apologies - I did not mean to hurt your feelings. Yes, of course I do remember when our parents told us that Elvis was evil. I imagine how much my words must have hurt your you and that man on the poster over your bed. I understand your warmest feelings for Mr. Brown, though I can't share! Please understand there are different opinions about "boys-on-posters". I prefer Earth, Wind and Fire - you love Mr. Brown...

  • @Sanguru100

    Ian Brown dancing is awesome

  • Sorry Sweety - I have to disagree. Strongly! As strong and viciously as you like it - don't you kai-kai? I feel you do - stop pretending!

  • you fuckin mong, so you're sayin that they failed to reach "real success" (whatever the fuck that means) because ian brown wasn't a good dancer? you realy are the biggest fucking idiot ever to register on this website. do you think that if he started fucking break-dancing in the middle of a song, the band would've made it to the top? would they fuck...and on top of that, how many Madchester bands do you know that included dance routines? None (unless you count Bez from Happy Mondays...hilarious)
