  • !!!Super!!!!! Он просто бог!

  • When young Cats want to learn why I love JAZZ so much I always point to the Jazz Messengers first.

  • I will never forget Freddie Hubbard and Rahsaan invading a late night talk show and ripping them for not hiring black musicians. I believe that was the late 60's because I was still in HS.

  • yep those Calicchio trumpets rule!

  • im new to the party & i must say wow!

that other nonsense on the radio has got to go.

  • FabFreddie.

    =

    TLC

  • I must say, his sound/tone is SOOOO AMAZING

  • Who Freddie, non he didn't covert to Islam. I should know,i'm his son.

  • @DUANESKEE No doubt. My condolences to you and the fam. Your dad was certainly the definitive 'musicians musician' and loved by all.

  • Is it true he converted to ISLAM?

  • Freddie just killed me again - what a line!!!

  • Man this rocks smooth....

  • ...comepausapranzopuoandare...

  • Man most musicians cant WRITE a solo that good!

  • AMAZING for a live performance i dont think i really care to hear what the sax player was about to play cause it wasnt going to match that. There probably only three people who could play behind that and sound decent and thats Coltrane, McCoy Tyner, and Clifford Brown

  • AMAZING for a live performance

  • i wish i had this recording on cd

  • absolute gun....

  • I laughed so hard at Freddie jumping around...I wish I was that happy about my solos most of the time

  • Freddie is 200% pure energy

  • who is that pianist? I've seen him in alot of youtube videos of famous trumpet players from the 70s to now.

  • virtuose!!!

  • a wonder

  • grandissimo,grazie Freddie

  • nice post..beautiful..all.

  • At 2:44 Brother Freddie Left the room yall!!!, Great post thaNKS A MILLION!

  • I love watching Hubbard play, you can see how he really throws all his emotions into what he's playing. What a killer solo!

  • Amazing solo RIP Freddie

  • 2:30 - 2:45 melts my ears!!! and he ends it all with a little hop!

  • And damn they set it up perfectly!

  • Freddie was so compelling ... could really rivet you and build a solo of geat intensity

  • If anyone wants more great Art Blakey Group recordings...look for 'Ms. BC'...it has Wynton instead of Hubbard, but it's fantastic none the less...

  • What a solo!

  • Ace!

  • There really aren't many people who can come up with a line as firey, intrecate, or as tastey. Truly a gem that will glisten well into the 21st century

  • I agree. Freddie is definitely FIYAH.

  • Freddie Hubbard is unarguably one of the greatest jazz players of all times.

  • everything is arguable.

  • @elduro0001

I can't imagine anyone giving you an argument about that.

  • cooking on all burners......joyous jazz

  • AWW YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • one of the sickest tunes ever. Shorter's solo on the original recording might be the greatest string of sound ever produced...sends me into alternate realm of reality

  • Oh my word I've loved the album this was originally on for years, great to see and hear the Messengers at last. Great that Curtis Fuller's on the gig, it's his tune

  • Inspiring!!!

  • Freddie was such a motherfucker. I think I might have peed my pants a bit after listening to that one..

  • anyone know what album this is on?

  • You might try shooting an email at the calicchio company. They made his horns. I found the video through their link. Or type the title in Itunes or on google and listen to the song till you find a recording of this session. Good Luck

  • its on:

    Art Blakey!!!!! Jazz Messengers!!!!!

i dont know if its still available...Impulse! Records got bought out so idk

  • @SoulPower89 Hey I pulled this info off the net. The album is called on Baystate (Japanese release) 1984 RJL2025-26 (2 LP's) Live "Nakano Sun Plaza Hall", Tokyo, February 2, 1984. I only have it on disc though

  • My favorite trumpet players, ever. He's such an inspiration to my playing. RIP!

  • 2:45 fREDDIE HAD TO JUMP FOR jOY! GREAT POST THANKS.

  • I would too if I were playing that well! He was on fire!

  • bEAUTIFUL MUSIC

  • RIP Freddie ( my video responce )

  • I did not know Freddie had died, RIP Ia great player, My Daughter plays Trumpet and I always show her youtube clips of Freddie.

  • Hey folks how bout you either listen to the video or get a life.

  • Talk about kickin a man when he's down. Show some decency. What if his family is reading these comments. Forget the fans for now. I wish someone would dig up one of your dead relatives and make fun of you like that, Thats so low.

  • Notice that I wrote that before his untimely death... Sorry.. But ha, It's true. Too much coke. But man C'mon... I was just stating how did he and other dudes like Dexter gordon stay alive soo long compared to the others.. Like Joe Henderson. I worship Freddie's playing and I have done nothing but transcribe and listen to his recordings..I bet you haven't. You are all just trying to find someone to put down. I don't care. I hate the era we are growing up in. Why can't we just do what they did..

  • If you really wrote that before he died, then I can understand what youre sayin. BUT dont tell me I dont transcribe the cats I love to emulate the most. I transcribe bari sax players more than anything since im a bass trombonist and dont love the typical trombone soloist too much. I just want you to respect the greats the way I do. But i guess you were just trying to be funny and it happened to be at a bad time. No foul. It happens to everybody. Do you play trumpet?

  • i really don't understand how the crowd could be so unemotional to that... i'd fall to my fuckin' knees hearing him play this solo... fuckin' awesome!!!!! RIP champion

  • Rest in Peace Freddie

As long as I have a phone, you'll always flood my ring tones.

I'll be putting up more vids soon to pay tribute

  • rip Freddie. truly one of the giants. buddy bolden, pops, roy, diz, miles, fats, brownie, and freddie. i know there are more. it's not a competition, but you gotta mention freddie whenever you talk trumpet. thanks so much for all of the great music.

  • Sing Me a Song of Songmy

1971. Trumpeter Freddie Hubbard and his quintet, of tenor-saxophonist Junior Cook, pianist Kenny Barron, bassist Art Booth and drummer Louis Hayes; are joined by a chorus, a string orchestra, several reciters, an organist and a variety of processed sounds emanating from tapes.

The project was composed and realized by Ilhan Mimaroglu .

The topical and anti-war messages expressed in the music are marvellous: the abstract sounds will be enjoyed by the open minded

  • A true legend and will be sorely missed!

  • RIP Freddie. This musician gave his ALL!

  • Freddie passed this morning from all reports.....sad that you have to make comments like the below, "Jazzman303".

  • Awesome jazz. Makes me just want to chill out and get into the groove.

  • Freddie is the man

    Thanks for the video

  • brillant trumpet playing

  • its very very good

  • this is my favourite period of this band...i got addicted to jazz listening to these guys...

post the rest of the gig 4 us!!! cheers!

  • Ditto. I fell in love with jazz through Art Blakey and the JMs......great

  • You can tell Freddie is feelin' it. Look at him do that little jump at 2:45....lol

  • yeah man even i felt it!!,there was a feeling in there, walter davis felt it too, cause he was playing a mischeivous diminished riff that sparked that moment of magic!!!

  • Curtis Fuller... These 3 Horn players are still alive... Amazing

  • A La Mode is a critical element of the "House that Trane Built" for Impulse! Shorter's licks were just as impressive.

  • Sweet vid man, very underrated song

  • Sweet vid man, very underrated song
