As I understand it, these cars were "twitchy".

The combination of midengine,rear drive and short wheelbase produced a "snappy" car , that was hard to drive.

The Rover v8 we put in a Ford Cortina was lighter in weight than the original 2 litre Ford unit. However this has to be heavier then the original Renault unit. I wonder what the handling was like.

I run a 38 yr old original Citroen DS that has been around the world & a 34 yr old GS. Pre-modern French vehicle engineering is excellent.

I'm a purist too when it comes to the old skool performance cars [im into my ford RS's myself, own a couple] but at least he got rid of the french engine and put in an English one! Certain cars are good with differnt engines.... its more when you go down the route of putting a vauxhall turbo engine into something like a mk1 escort that it's just pure shite. I do like this.
