Sincere thanks for posting this. I know everyone associates this group with "White Bird" but this was always my favorite It's a Beautiful Day song. Sadly, it seemed to disappear from the airwaves decades ago.
I really like this band. Their debut album is awesome and some of the subsequent recordings are pretty great. It is a crying shame that all of their Columbia Records label recordings have not been remastered and reissued.
Beautiful song from great band - when I was a lad etc. etc., skinning up on lp sleeves (factory floors), microdot, chillums etc. them were the days .... (stop yawning!)
After doing four years in the Navy, I got out in Dec. 1972. I bought a new Dodge van. I put a bed and nice interior along with foam insulation for sound and temp. control. the outside paint was orange and I added light orange panels. My CB handle was " The Camel". To top off the paint job I did a bit of pin stripping in brown. The final touch was the album cover picture painted on both sides upper rear corners, including the Camels tennis shoes, his Balls and the flies. Thank for reminding.
It was 1971 & I was a 19 year old San Francisco kid living on a 26' Chris Craft boat I traded for my 70 Gremlin, a Sony Color TV & gold pocket watch. It was an idyllic life berthed in the Harbor at the Marina. At the time Choice Quality Stuff/Anytime was my favorite album. We were blessed to have lived through such a wondrous time as we tried to make our dreams of peace & love a reality while smoking up a storm. I hope you don't mind me sharing my memories of A Beautiful Day. Peace.
