I think you have a serious problem with your speakers! Your amps are clipping badly, causing a problem in your speakers. Not even a badly set up Linn LP12 with an old arm like that will be the cause of that problem.
For crying out loud - READ my 1st reply people. I SOLD this over a year ago - why are people still waffling on about it?. The clip was taken on my mobile phone camera with CRAP sound. My amp is NOT "clipping" badly. MY Lp12 has an EKOS arm and K18II cart. If YOU can't tell that the clip was recorded on a mobile mate, its YOU who has the problem with your EARS/ Hi-Fi.
Well i bought a troika (£719) yes i must be mad and then discovered a few years later why it sounded so harsh ' it had a bent cantilever yes really and mine was not the only example and the deck always went off after about 12-18 months so back to the dealer more expense should i go on.
I used to have an lp12 and it sounded as bad as that ,my god and i kept upgrading it but was never happy 'so finally sold it and now i have a SL1210 mk 2/at120e cart and i love it, miles better than a linn it really is the most overpriced overrated piece of junk you will ever hear' no wonder ivor always had a big grin on his face .
If I dont know what i'm talking about how comes I am always seeing LP12 in 2nd hand columms in Hi-Fi mags? along with Naim Audio. I will never forget Linn themselves demonstrating A full Linn set up constantly playing the Christians debut lp at Heathrow in 1989 at it was distorted!!! Fact!
A Rega P3 is much better despite it's cheaper price tag. The timing sucks on an LP12. I know my ears & did not fall for the press proganda of the late 1980's
Sondek is overated crap. I audtioned one once in 1988 I was astionished how bloated & distorted it sounded. You are better off with a rega , gyrodec , funk or technics 1210 (I kid you not with a good arm it sounds pitch perfect)
Those were the days! Would have binned the lk1/2 and used a Nait to drive Kans! Ive still got original LP12 advertising leaflet for that model entitiled'the begining' and it lists all the products they made then, which in my opinion where never bettered by anything
they made afterwards! Kans,Saras,Isobariks,LP12,LV11,ASAK and prepre amp.
