  • 2:04 bye bye Colombia ,Ecuador ,Peru ,Venezuela and Panama ,what a creepy view !!! it passes by my city so fast !!! even the mountains in my city are very high ,but here look so small and useless to protect us ,very creepy video :(

  • isso nunca vai acontecer

  • NOOOO PERU ITS NOW... BURNT??!!

  • shit the third impact!!!

  • I seen all my life passed through my eyes, only for seeing that video O_O

  • Wow nice animation effects

  • lmao is it me or does japan have all the worst catastrophes??? godzilla, the most recent erthquake, the nuclear reactor thingy, tsunamis, and apperently this too since we clearly see it being destroyed first by the crater

  • The Philippines: ....ouch

    O____o

  • Song doesn't go with the video. The great gig in the sky one is better

  • ok wow thats so fake xD

  • We have to take care of our planet around that this asteroid will destroy completely and that is very sad

  • Mute this video and in another tab play Deadmau5 - Some chords from the 00:46 mark and start the video at the same time.

  • I can see my car from here!

  • 2:35 there wouldn't be water in the Thames. They use this song on most destruction videos I have seen, such as the 9/11 video a remix version of this song was used and on this.., geat animation though :D

  • @harrihealey02

Why wouldn't there be water in the Thames?

  • @Bookstop1337 It got blown out from the force of the impact and the heat that the lava made would evapourate it and this overdramatic sequence showing how quick the heat came across and the ice melting quickly the water would be. Well, at least not in that manner

  • whaats this song called

  • i like the music

  • i don't think if asteroid falls on the Earth that whole Earth become in lava.

  • @CendeRer if the astorid is as bif as this one, it will become in lava ;D

  • @CendeRer if the astorid is as big as this one, it will become in lava ;D

  • would it be possible to survive this? a 1000 foot deep bunker on the exact opposite side of impact?

  • Earth is a strong motherfucker.

  • i wonder if Al Quaida would release a video claiming responsibilty

  • in 10 minutes our world would be a FUCKING HELL!

  • Breaking News from the Onion Network : "Republicans Vote To Repeal Obama-Backed Bill That Would Destroy Asteroid Headed For Earth"

  • Watch this while listening to 'Sound of Silence' :D

  • Can't u see how small we are...

  • *sobs about John Lennon's death* WHY? WHY DID IT HAVE TO HAPPEN?!? HE WAS TOO YOUNG!

  • @GX2000GX He wasn't that young. Buddy Holly was young (22). Lennon lived almost twice that, and he acomplished alot during his lifetime.

  • Simple solution - create a system of early detection and tracking devices on the grounds and in orbit so we can locate any threatening asteroids and, if necessary, use our 50 year stockpile of nuclear weapons to deflect them.

The whole network would cost less than a year of military deployment in Iraq.

    Problem solved.

  • @cashcleaner Nice idea - wouldn't work

  • @ChocolatePoop1301

By all means, expand on why not. Many astrologists agree that the best course of action would be to deflect an incoming asteroid rather than trying to blow it up altogether. They also understand that we have the missile technology and warheads to do the job, but more resources need to be spent on tracking these objects.

If that's not a good solution, what would yours be?

  • @cashcleaner They have entire specials on asteroid solutions. I'm sure there are some on here. The biggest problem is the smaller, faster ones can still be devices of mass extinction, but are difficult to find and track because of their size and speed. Hitting them with nukes could create a buckshot effect, potentially making it worse. It's been awhile since I watched the show on this topic, but the best idea seemed to be attaching solar sails of some sort and pulling it out of trajectory.

  • @ChocolatePoop1301

Yeah, I've seen a few of them and there are pretty interesting. The solar sails idea is theoretical and sounds cool, but I just have to wonder if a system like that would end up working when you factor in all the moving parts and components that could malfunction.

I also like the plan to fire a high-energy laser from Earth or satellites in orbit that heat up one spot and allow very small bits to break up over time because of it.

  • @cashcleaner I forgot about the laser idea. That was a good one too. I think there is a large one that is going to pass around 2030 and they are watching to make sure it doesn't hit the "gravitational keyhole"

  • Okay, that video was totally awesome!

That being said Japan wouldn't get peeled up like that, and the effect on the oceans would leave earth looking more like Venus. Oh, and the city at the beginning - we would have had plenty of warning. That city should be in complete chaos - though the plumes of smoke would distract from the point of the video, I know.

  • *sob* Beautiful....

  • I don't think that's exactly what Lennon imagined...

  • Imagine everyone, togther in harmony, no hatred or violence, and the earth smacked by an astroid and engulfed in fire....

    wait what?

  • its beautiful

  • nice choice for the soundtrack :)

  • this song makes asteroids seem so peaceful.

  • its so interesting!maybe this kind of things can erase the earth into the planet's have life.but no one can predict how the earth's gonna end except our god!

  • I've seen this Discovery Channel video several times, and to several soundtracks. I think this one is the best so far, the timing is perfect. Good Job.

  • the song is "Pink Floyd - The Great Gig In The Sky"

  • pause at 3:06 your hot tubs ready!

  • I hate creater of this video!!! He try to make people afraid!!!!!!!!!

  • THE HDness!!! :O :O :O

  • haha i get your 'message', but an asteroid hitting earth wouldn't be our self-destructiveness

  • Should have played the song of time, sure you'd lose all your money, but youd have three more days

  • It looks more like the moon is striking earth xD astroids are never that big.

  • @juultjuh99 Well astroids can be fairly 'Big' but normally they are 100km in Diameter

And my friend... Moons are much bigger than that xD

  • dont be affraid of the dead anyway you will die a day so profite of your life all time you can i have a familly i can die any tume its not important im happy! so all person said omg its scary thats just the end of humankind that's not gravelly its just another cycle of the life! sorry for my bad english!

  • and thats why space exploration isn't a expensive waste of money but a reqirement of human suvival;

  • @LexiPopuli how would we survive that

  • @4tw4tw4tw we go into space and colonise other worlds

  • @LexiPopuli that can not be possible due to to many people we could not save everyone we could not save our human race.. Earth this made for humans and if we leave we could not last on such a planet as mars due to the so called cold and no atmosphere...

  • this was def the best video ive seen with that animation/music.

  • how stupid are those people and you to fuckin let us know about this doom day??? How is it going to help us? prepare for it? all you poster have a fuckin stupid mind... you really do... ME I'M NOT SCARE OF DEATH. plus i don't believe this bull shit, if it happen it should happen already, especially in the year 2000 and all that shit mellenium, oh when the clock hit 12.00am new year is going to end??? but other people that are watching feel scared why tell the whole world and get them sad?

  • @deonvan Wow

  • This Is Very Sad For Earth.John Lennon R.I.P.

  • This Song Is Very Sad. John Lennon R.I.P.

  • i wonder how lonng did it take to rander that animation...

  • That looks Fan-Fucking-Tastic

  • ahhh So easy What we need to do is about to Send Alot of nukes and Hydrogen Bombs Then Kaboom to that Comet :3 Earth= Live forever ! well until i am old and die ofc i don't wanna feel flame pain :-(

  • a real optimistic video.

  • This Would Have To Be The Most Scariest/Saddest Video Ever.

  • Well that should about do it.

  • Push Earth out of its Orbit alright. Fuck things up.

  • Coisa de americano mesmo...

    mente Ficcista...

  • TO VAULT 101! XD

  • FALLOUT 3 FTW =D xD

  • @niall249 fallout 3 is nuclear fallout of radiation this is a steroid?? but still FTW!!!!!

  • Like a vault would save you from that shit xD

Thats some class a Planet Glassing shit.

  • 0:27 in back round you see Mount. Rainer,

  • If this were to happen there would be almost no way to stop...... to realize we have no control.

  • ..That's like a freaking mini-planet collision man. D8

So freaky. I hope this never happens in my life time. But it looks like a reboot for earth... in a way.. a good thing?

  • @PanicSunday We're not talking an extinction event, that would have a chance of Earth recovering. This is more like sterilization, leaving nothing behind except maybe some heat loving microbes deep inside the Earth. We'd be lucky if life even got past the point of bacteria, as it takes a billion or so years to get it started. By then, the sun would already be getting too hot. So no not a good thing lol. Earth would be finished for good. Nothing more than a bacteria encrusted rock.

  • i saw this in my science class

  • he stole this

  • i dont care, its in HD!

  • Excellent video work. Except that the earth would split like a squashed grape and would take millions of years (billions?) to regain it's shape, and except for the fact that the earth's water vapour would be ejected into space leaving earth permanently barren (like Mars can't now get it's water back ((except what's frozen under the surface- different water loss reason-)). I'd like to see the ejecta layer in the rock strata to prove the "6 times before" claim.

  • "This video may help you reflect on our own destructiveness."

    Lame.

  • Comment removed

  • freaky

  • The Song Is Sad And The Video Is Scary.

  • If something like this would happen, you wouldn't recognize the Earth anymore, as you can in this vid.

It a beautiful vid, don't get me wrong, but I just want to say that there wouldn't be an Earth left when something like this would happen.

  • It'd be great if you got your ass kicked to Lennon's 'Instant Karma'.

  • nice video, must be a good view for the space station guys

  • That's a big asteroid.

  • "blank-slate" reminds me of Pinker's book.

  • oh, the folks @ sott(dot)net would LOVE this!!

  • Nature is great of ridding itself of parasites, good video. Also is anyone else reminded of Star Trek II when the earth is engulfed in flames? lol

  • Wouldn't Bruce Willis stop this?

  • Indeed.

  • @Mjhavok

Sure he would, along with Milla Jovovich.

  • oh planet, i lubs you.

  • this is impossible, the ozonlayer will protect the earth from asteroids

  • Fireworks! Yey :)

  • god does not exist. life are insignificant to the null and void universe.

  • ah, a man can dream.

  • I recall this sim from a science channel show. :P

  • Also, you know whats fucking funny?

Those mother fucking assholes in the white house and at the tops of other governments that caused all the fighting over the years are going to be the ones safe at bunkers at the bottom of the ocean or in spaceships evacuating earth.

  • ?.....

  • what?

I am saying that this video is meant to bring us together. But the people breaking us apart (political and religious leaders) have bunkers that they can escape to incase of a disaster, such as a nuclear war or asteroid.

Why do the evil people get safety? Shouldn't the innocent civilians of the earth have it instead!

  • Bunkers at the bottom of the ocean or evacuating on spaceships? yeah.

  • yes quite possible, you clearly have no idea of what the real world is like. Your name has 98 in it... were you born in 1998? Cause then you would be about 11 years old, and that would make sense.

We send people to the space station, why wouldn't our leaders save themselves by going there? They would. And everyone already knws the president has secret bunkers in which he will go in case of nuclear war.

  • For one, that is the year the I graduated HS, and 2002 is when I graduated from college. Do the math. Also, pointing out my age to disqualify what I say is an ad hominem logical fallacy. For two, where is the evidence that there are sub oceanic bunkers that the elites would retreat to in the event of a an asteroid? How many people could survive in the closed system of a space station and for how long? Think your claims through before you post.

  • Wow congrats dude, what college?

And its not an ad hom, I was simply looking for a logical reason why your brain functions like a 10 year old's.

Anyway, it is common knowledge that leader's have bunkers.... I was just saying oceanic because that makes sense. And you are foolish to speak of "the closed system of a space station" to someone currently studying astronomy in college. You should learn about the Apollo 13 moon mission and find out just how "hard" it is to get oxygen in space.

  • More ad hominem? Insults reveal ones intellectual inferiority. You are trying to mask the fact that you do not have evidence for your claim. If it is common knowledge that there are sub oceanic bunkers fashioned by the elietes in case of a catastrophe then provide the evidence. Also you are not in college, dont like. Plus, you need more than oxygen to survive. Please, think about what you are going to say before you say it. Take a few weeks to think about your response before you respond.

  • Lol I like how the islands get "sucked up" by the impact despite the fact that island are merely like tips of the iceberg with miles upon miles of tectonic plate beneath them...

  • lol. i was thinking the same thing.

  • i think this is the only way the world will come together, in lava

  • The human destructiveness affects more the living species on earth than the earth itself. Earth can survive from our destructiveness. It has the ability to be revitalized. We can not. We are destroying ourselves and we dont understand it.

  • It seems that when most people talk about "destroying Earth," they mean "destroying life on Earth." Earth is a rock; it will "survive" (i.e., continue to exist) even if it's a lifeless wasteland.

Anyway, I love this song. It's basically about atheistic/antitheistic anarchist-communism, which suits me down to the ground.

  • Sent this to a friend of mine, who replied with: "Well so what's the point of not being destructive when the Earth's going to get destroyed anyways?" He later added: "Stop worrying so much about politics and shit; live life before the asteroid hits." *sigh*

  • This helps to put all the nonsense that keeps us divided in perspective.
