This is an issue when they try and max revenue and run the town stage for 3 nights. Markets etc. need to be held before the rally. Spectators and teams are incredibly busy during the actual rally, stages start early in the morning, a start of 8:30 means fans leaving at 6:30 to get to the stage and get a good position. Drive back, takes over an hour due to traffic, hardly any time to stop for a meal before the town stage, let alone a market.
Thanks for your input imwoolaffs , and possibly this info may have been handy when the council and WRC organisers were out telling the businesses to gear up for the biggest event Coffs was ever going to see!
I have spoken to several people that attended the rally from here and overseas and it wasn't very favourable thoughts! Too much worry about safety and poor spectator points! We can do it better!
I think the only businesses to make any money were the coffs resorts who basically got everyones business and the WRC/Ticketek who charged ppl $50-100 to stand in a paddock. It was a bit much for local businesses to expect a massive influx of people however as most are stuck during the daytime watching the rally. After standing in a paddock getting covered in dust all day the last thing on my mind was getting cleaned up and going out for dinner.
And here i was ready to argue that the rally did bring in large amounts of cash to the local economy, but the video really speaks for itself .
What a terrible balls up by the council and RA
Ill shut up and go away now.

So no one ate or drank for the whole weekend?
No I think the council and Rally Australia told us a pack BS and didn't have a clue who the customer was!
Many businesses made adjustments at the request of both these mobs and have ended up in the shit!
All care and no responsibilty!!
We don't don't blame the rally goers!
We blame the council and RA!
