@kosiodrifta i agree!!!especially those subarus from the 80:s..i had one from 1987 who had snow over the whole front area, but no problems to go forward..now i have octavia with haldex, and the car is much worse than the subaru!!!
Put on normal good brand winter tyres and you will never have things like that. The car would go via snow like this without even slowing down. With these "all season" stuff, I always say that "a thing that is good for all, is good for nothing", "All season" tyres are noisy in the summer and they will never be like normal winter tyres in the winter. This video is a tru example.
@worras2007 it´s not the tyres that are wrong..it´s the haldex system!!!..i had a Subaru-87 and that car could go perfect in snow with summer tyres..now i have a octavia with haldex, and the car gives up after a few meters i light snow..in wet snow the car doesn´t go one meter!!!!
Haha, i like to read the comments from the tards like: haha, one guy cant move a car which weights 2 tons. it's obvious that you dont live where the snow is. We in sweden know how to do it, and i promise you that one mans strenght is more than enough to get a stuck car free. If you know how to do it. both the driver and the man behind the car sucks, but, with experience, knowledge comes. Keep on trying'!
Next time, better don`t push the car holding the back window, better use the back panel (next to the registration number and upper from the back bumper) You will have more man power, becouse you will push with your back musculs too, not only with the arms, you wont break the window and you wont slippy your grip and fall down hiting your head. And to have some snow chains in the car in winter season is not bad idea in all.
yeah, but the problem is that only 2 right tires are spinning, not all 4. And you can certainly tell, because nothing is moving on the left side. It obviously has an open differential in the back, or worn lsd. But driver isn't flooring the car, so even with a lsd, it wouldn't move. Watch the guy in the back trying to push a 2 ton car hahaha.
@83ls how can you say that when you cant see the left side? never seen a car before being stuch while all 4 wheels are turning?
this volvo has a super complicated awd system connected to traction control system that cant be turned off.(not completely anyways). so, when right wheel slips, car brakes it so power is transfered to left wheel. same goes to the front axle. and if you havent noticed, the man was successful at tilting the car.
what this guy should to is to move the car just a little bit in front and in the back,front-back,front-back...to make the car use its weight and inertia. winter tires are a must, all season don't work!
You're right, but it is well known : french are the most clever. They always take the right decision, and if not the case, then it would certainly have been worth. This abolute intelligence leads to what you can see in this video.
i think you shut send that car back to the real owner probley in scadinavia;)
resons i think it is stolen if you live in russia and have a car like that i think you will have money to winter tires to.. so next time tray to steal a car whit winter tires;);)
volvo is an amazing car. neacsuvlad is right - check tires before going into deep snow. I dont think AWD is the issue here, since all tires are slipping together.
I also have a XC70 and never had the kind of problems you experienced in deep snow. What kind of tyres were you running on while shooting this video? I suspect either summer/all season, or very poor quality winter tyres. I repeat, this never happend to me, no matter the conditions (snow, ice, mud, etc)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I call BS on you! The XC70 is pathetic in Snow, Ice or any other slippery/adverse surface/terrain. It uses a Haldex AWD, the same as in the Audi TT, A3, Tiguan and others. Volvo should have used the Torsen system which is basically what comes in the A4 & A6. Pathetic.
AS I MENTIONED EARLIER! I HAVE NO PROBLEM IN SNOW, ICE AND MUD! Tire choice is extremely important! If you run on low end summer tires and expect high end performance in adverse winter driving conditions .... what can I say ... I don't wanna start a flame, I just wanna state the fact that the XC is far better in the snow that the video claims.
I am sorry, but I had to laugh at your comment. So you read in a magazine that Volvo uses Haldex, and therefore is not real 4WD, I assume? Well, if you, instead of babbling here about things you don't know, actually try to drive in snow, in a snowy/colf region, you'd learn that it's all bull.
The Volvo's Haldex system works just fine, on ice, in snow, in mud, and on dry asphalt. Of course, the Volvo does not come with a replacement brain for the driver in this video. Proper tires are required!
That is why i run Nokian Hakkapeliitta snow tires on my 2003 XC70, I have taken it through 14" of snow with no problem. I even stopped in the deep powder and slowly rolled on throttle to see if i could get moving again, NO PROBLEM!!! The Haldex 1st generation is pretty decent AWD.
I can't wait to get a 2010 XC70 with haldex 4th generation!
Stupid French people))) You shall have winter tyers going to drive on snow or ice))))!!!

French summer tires, French driver. What else is there to say?
In Sweden people get around in most winter conditions no matter what kind of car RWD FWD AWD
EVEN IN A FRENCH CAR! - Please allow me to wash my mouth with soap and water.
Is there no such thing as winter tires in France?
