Is there any specific name for the HDD mini bench you're using? I repair hard disks as well, but I have yet to find one of these. It would be a VERY nifty addition to my set. :)

after having the exact same sound and issue and watching this I said screw that I don't have the tools. I decided to just not open the drive and spin the drive in my hand. I heard a rough spinning noise from my drive when I did this. Eventually the noise stopped. I plugged it back in and the drive worked fine. I guess mine was just a little stuck. I took the drive in my hand spun it quickly and stopped did this about 20 times until the noise went away and it worked.

@psxpro5 Thank god, that method actually worked for me, i was gonna not be happy if my 1tb drive just completely took a shit on me only after 6-7 months. I am gonna buy another WD drive now to replace this one, i won't buy a seagate again.

What is the tool called that you used to hold the hard drive in place? also does this recover data?

@InfamousDance It's a simple work bench that can be built or ordered online from a few companies. A Google search for recovery tools will yield some good results. The bench simply holds the drive(s) in place, it, by itself, does nothing other than that. Thanks for watching!
