As for the lip-synched girl, this is not the first time it happend in the Olympics and you are all silly to believe this. Salt Lake City Winter Olympics is a prime example. Well I love China too a I fell sad for both of the girls. According to Daily Telegraph, Lin was told she'll be lip-syncing only 15 min before the performance. Sounds like both of them were deceived for "national interest" (read: "interest of the Party"). Reportedly it was someone in the central Politburo, who said while before the show that she's not "cute enough". Imagine Bush doing that - it would be worldwide outrage and especially Chinese state-ruled media would make a whole-week news of it.

Both girls' parents have consent on who will be the singer, and who will be the performer. It states on the program. Actually the 7 years old refused to be on the stage because she was scare and too shy. I think china was doing great job.

The actual footprint firewoks WERE going off at the same time as the simulated one on TV, and in much the same way... tourists and people in Beijing saw the footprint fireworks fired above sky.
but it was hard to capture all those 29 footprint fireworks on a helicopter, and it was hard to predict the weather or other cirumstances, and following those footprint fireworks could endanger the safety of the helicopter pilot. So, they showed a 55-second CGI illustration for the people watching TV.

Besides, China informed the commentators from around the globe beforehand that the footprint fireworks on TV is just a rendition, many countries' commentators during the live broadcast did comment to family audience that the footprint firework on TV is just a CGI rendition to convey what's happening in Beijing. As for the lip-synched girl, this is not the first time it happend in the Olympics and you are all silly to believe this. Salt Lake City Winter Olympics is a prime example. As the furry white creatures sang during the opening ceremony, it was actually pre recorded by SLC's, Cathedral of the Madeleine's choir school.
Politics aside, Beijing's opening ceremony is the most stunning and imposing show on the planet. Can London 2012 beat it or as good as it? Sorry, I don't think so.

The poor kids, Lin was ask to lip sync, its not her fault. And Yang has a talent, talent is not about the face or what she look like. This is about her voice. And seriously, she's only 9 years old as well. She WAS probably singing, just her voice wasn't broadcasted. It's not fair to say that she was claiming praise, when she probably didn't know what was happening since she got changed in 15 minutes.
Now, THAT is the fault of the organizers, who should've told her so she shouldn't claim something that wasn't her work.
Otherwise, there's tons of combined work to create a best effect. What's the big deal here? Hollywood did it a million times.

why can't people be positive--now TWO little girls got their talents showcased...is that such a bad thing? If Lin Miao Ke had admitted in interviews (I don't know if her parents knew) that she wasn't the singer, the issue wouldn't have been blown out of proportion. I think it's more a case of bad PR. Besides, one article even said that the other girl was glad that she at least got to be part of the Olympics.

At the end of the day, the Olympics in China was a roaring success. It gave every nation represented there reason to be proud. How wonderful to see the national pride on the faces of athletes and spectators, especially when their team won gold and their national anthem was played. Thank you China for bringing the world together in such an awesome way.

I think i wouldn't feel this uneasy if the 9 yr old girl lip synched using a recording of her own voice. We see this in the States all the time (ie A. Simpson)...but this is wrong... They actually spent years on figuring out how to put together the footstep fireworks. It's fireworks combined with high tech animation. Everyone in China knew that, he didn't "SLIP" any word out. Well I love China too a I fell sad for both of the girls. According to Daily Telegraph, Lin was told she'll be lip-syncing only 15 min before the performance. Sounds like both of them were deceived for "national interest" (read: "interest of the Party"). Reportedly it was someone in the central Politburo, who said while before the show that she's not "cute enough". Imagine Bush doing that - it would be worldwide outrage and especially Chinese state-ruled media would make a whole-week news of it.
