  • The animation is pretty good, but the singing makes me wanna cut a vein

  • WHY?

  • the old one was waaaaaaaay better

  • I like the old one the best. :-)

  • The original is better

  • This sounds like Langhorne Slim to me, I dig it

  • Nope. And the singer needs a throat lozenge.

  • Sure the clay animation is cute but has anyone ever heard of," If its not broke, don't fix it"? Plus, who the heck is singing this??? The singer is AWFUL!

  • i thought that fire engine waz gonna run the ladybird over...

  • Aw My Little Sister Didnt Like It O.O I was The One That Ended Up Watching It ( Thumbs Up If You Agree!)

  • Why remake this when the original one is just fine the way it is?

  • Thumbs up if you came here from the ad in video manager

  • Am I really the only one who came from the ad on Video Manager??

  • @BabwEmely nope

  • @BabwEmely Nope

  • @BabwEmely Nope

  • Video is good but the dude singing has some kind of Sam Kinison falsetto sound that just sucks.

  • Well this is just wrong! Classic Sesame Street is the one and only!

  • This is so lame.I never so this one on Sesame Street. The original one much better.

  • IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT

  • The singer's gutteral, growl of a voice and the primping, preening, prima dona ladybugs are unattractive.

The original was cuter, sillier, and more fun.

  • the original is better!

  • Do you think anyone could mix the original lyrics with this footage?

  • This is really an epic redo. But, it is missing the two best parts of the original. The knock knock sound when they bang their heads together, and the wheeeew whistle and the honk on the fire truck at the end.

  • Another crap remake of a timeless classic.

  • Why mess with perfection? WHY?

  • @ZiggletMama I feel the same way! The original was way better.

    You can't improve a classic!

  • The components are technically fine. It's nice claymation, and the music is played well. It just doesn't have the right pacing and simply doesn't work as well as the original.

  • SEVEN EIGHT NINE!

  • Another classic ruinedProxy-

  • Hey! I was expecting the original! Well, this one...ain't so bad. Looks a wee bit hideous, though.

  • First the the "10 song" now the ladybug picnic song? What's next? :(

  • OMG what have they done to this. This is the problem with sesame street now, it is utter boring crap! And @ jcpegg no one is slamming Sean Scolnick coz he isnt good but it just doesn't have the same vibe as the original.

  • No kazoo? Boo!

  • Y'know. You really didn't need to mess with a classic, Sesame Street. This makes me sad.

  • this sucks. i like the original version better

  • I like both versions of this song.

  • This would have been better if they kept the original song and used this animation. Better yet, reanimate it by hand in the same style as the original.

  • i like the original better

  • This is my all time favorite clip, I love it :)

  • I guess they are telling the kids if they are ladybugs they should keep fixing their hair and checking their makeup even while on a picnic! So sad. I pity the children who are growing up on this stuff....way to go Sesame Street, change a properly good song for sexist CGI...The new version of the song is okay but the animation is unforgivable! They didn't even need the fire engine at the end there. :(

  • this sucks!!! What the heck happened to the original? MUCH better than this crap! The new sesame street shows suck! bring back the good ol' shows!

  • Not bad, but I prefer the original.

  • ummm..no...the original is better!!!! This doesn't even look like a cartoon, especially from Sesame Street!!!

  • Why try and remake a classic? This is horrible!

  • The original one is better.

  • WTF?leave well enough alone sesame street! THIS IS AWFUL!

  • haha holy goodness, langhorne you have brought my childhood into awesomeness.

  • i dont like this one i love the old one

  • Comment removed

  • Not bad not bad! But man-o-man, I still love the original. I sing it to this day, 35 years later or so. What a catchy tune!

  • this sucks the old one is a lot better.

  • OOOOOOMMMMMGGGGGGGG I REMEMBER THIS but the redid it....... :( thats shit.

  • Well, I prefer the original, but at least this remake isn't as bad as the 10 Tiny Turtles remake. That one is just horrendous. I still think they should've left it alone, but oh well. They didn't ask us!

  • what the??? Are they trying to impress preschoolers or adults?

  • The classic is far better than this. Sesame Street isn't creative anymore . This video is a clear indication of them trying to repeat the sweetness of the classic Sesame Street. Their 1st step to revive Sesame Street should be GETTING RID OF ELMO! Bring back Kermit, Harvey Kneelslapper, Forgetful Jones, Grover & the Blue head guy and the likes....poor kids have to resort to youtube for the fun Sesame Street classics.

  • Soooo - is this how we spend money for public tv most effectively? Remaking perfectly good material instead of developing new things? Oh....that's right....the "Veggie Monster" instead of the Cookie Monster.

    Never mind.

  • @SMdiabla The Veggie Monster thing is a myth. Plus, who cares what we think about this? This isn't for us. It's for our kids. And Sesame Street is something that helps my kid read and count, so I won't complain about it.

  • There is nothing wrong with this new one, either. I quite like the claymation! It was very well done.

  • aaxsgummhfgghhythgfhgghgjb,mk.;n.nmjkj j'[hljkl ,l;h ,i9jtmj

  • Love this new one! and more importantly, so do all the children i know. i think they are both great and teaching our children how to count in a fun sing-along way. Be nice, people. They are both good, but different. Enjoy and appreciate all the hard work that real people put in to making this. Everyone i play it for walks around singing it all day. it's fun!!!

  • i don't like the singing in this one

  • I don't "dislike" this but I really prefer the original.

  • oh i love that you are on sesame street. how cool is that?!?!?!

  • Saw this on an episode & was VERY disappointed....the old one is the best!

  • This wasn't the one I grew up with!

I have been crimed on. D:<

  • This is sooo cute!! I love it! Lighten up people!

  • Yeah, the claymation is cute, but this version of the song SUUUUUCKS. I like Elizabeth Mitchell's cover of Ladybug picnic the best.

  • Where is the jaw harp for that matter?

  • this is terrible

  • I miss the kazoo in this version.

  • Anyone who liked this second-rate dross does a great injustice to the classic original.. :-\

  • They got it right the first time around; I like the old one better.

  • I like this one better.

  • i like the old 1 better

  • Well, 20 kids i know, 6 years old and under, LOVE LANGHORNE SLIM and this great NEW version of Ladybug Picnic. I love the old version too! I think Sesame Street knows what they are doing and they do it well! Go Sesame Street!

  • The crudeness of the animation in the original version is what makes it so sweet and humorous. It's always been a favorite of mine and will always hold a special place in my heart. This newer one is adorable. I wonder if it were computer generated or traditional claymation? Either way I actually think that it's a worthy remake. Except for the score. I enjoy the original much better. Personal preference. Seems better suited for the clip. Don't care for the new music at all.

  • Langhorne Slim is an amazing singer, and I think he does a fine version of it, but his voice does seem to be just a bit too gritty to be used in a childrens show. Seriously though, there is no reason why people can't enjoy two versions of the same thing

  • what is this???????????

  • I LOVE LANGHORNE SLIM!!!

  • @mamashady123 456 789 any relation to Fatboy Slim?

  • i like the old one more

  • I don't understand why people don't think this is good. I like this as much as the original.

  • The thumbnail looked like a bunch of naked people.

  • How could they ruin such a classic :(

  • Hm.. I kinda like this new one better than the old one. There, I've said it!

  • Thumbs up if u think the old one is better:)

  • I'd like to see them do #9 cutie in claymation. LOL!

  • Langhorne Slim rocks! One of my favorite memories and songs from childhood.

  • So rad.

  • yeah - cute ladybugs having a potato sack race, jumping rope and roasting marshmallows at a bonfire...very inappropriate. i guess its all in the way you look at things. I think this is a terrific version put together in a creative and joyful way. thumbs up to the artists and sesame street!

  • Awww why did they change the original? its the exact same thing and in my opinion a lot more fun than this version.

  • really? - high heels and primping - not what i call appropriate!

what kind of message are you trying to send?

  • They need to bring back the mad painter! And Guy Smiley! Although the voice for Guy Smiley would be all wrong considering Jim Hensen is no longer around.

  • My 3 year old was watching Sesame Street earlier today and this skit came on. For a minute I thought they might be showing the old one and then realized it didn't sound right. Is this the only one that they've re-made?

  • Claymation... a very delecate art

  • I LOVE THIS ONE!!!

  • Side note-props to sesame street for using an awesome artist like Langhorne Slim, and allowing other people, like the ones who did the animation, a chance to re-do it and have fun with it.

  • The guy singing this is Sean Scolnick, aka Langhorne Slim. You should check out his music before you slam for his cover of "Lady Bug Picnic". He is an amazing singer/songwriter and his band's live shows have more energy and emotion than most any other band. Search for "Langhorne Slim - Restless Live on The Late Show" or "Langhorne Slim sings "Be Set Free"" or "Langhorne Slim - Back to the Wild (Pickathon 2010)". You're welcome :)

  • Sung by the great Langhorne Slim. Langhorne, Pa is the home of Sesame Place, the Sesame Street theme park. How very fitting.

By the way, I love this!

  • I absolutely LOVE this!!! So the old version was great and cute but this is Langhorne Slim people and he sounds awesome! He is a wonderful and real artist and he's singing on Sesame Street for a great looking video dealing with the life of lady bugs and their picnic and such. Yay for Langhorne Slim, number 12 and such things as new life blending with the old :0)

  • To each their own. I'm sure that most of you think the original is better because that's what you grew up with and so it has sentimental value. But this isn't made for you. It's made for little kids and I'm sure they will think the song and animation is just great!

  • One of the last things I expected today was to hear a Sesame Street song sang by Sean!! Great job!!!!

  • This one is fantastic!! I LOVE IT!! Nothing wrong with new, folks!!! SOOO CUTE AND FUN!!! The guy singing is great and i just smiled from ear to ear watching and listening!!!

  • This one is fantastic!! I LOVE IT!! Nothing wrong with new, folks!!! SOOO CUTE AND FUN!!!

  • Love it!!! Soooo cute. New can be good and this is GREAT!!!

  • This version SUCKS! The guy can't sing, the granphics are lame computer generated, and not an original idea ... America, across the board, has run out of original ideas, from government to entertainment ... America- the exhuasted society.

  • @anansiarts, I completely agree with you.

  • I prefer the original version as well but would rather see this updated rather than lost forever,

  • Although I like the animation (even in 3-D it's pretty close to Bud Luckey's style), would it have killed Sesame Workshop to use the original audio? There's nothing outdated about the folk/country style that Turk Murphy's band used... *sigh*

  • w

    t

    f

  • this version is like when coke came out with "NEW COKE"..bad idea.

  • Ha! I enjoy the hate bandwagon everyone's jumping on. I wonder if the last two users realised that they subconsciously put "yuck" in their comments from reading the third one down :3

And I don't feel strongly about this video one way or another, but because I've read these negative reviews, I say...I LOVE THIS NEW VERSION OF THE SONG!!! XD

Yeah, I was inspired to make THIS comment about reading other comments....by reading the other comments...oh cruel irony.

  • God, why not just reanimate the original audio, seriously, yuck.

  • Yuck! What the heck is this? Where's the original?

  • Yuck. Old one please.

  • Heresy!

  • Something tells me they're gonna do the Alligator King. I just know it! They've done all of Bud Lucky's songs into remakes; I guess that mighty down reptie's gonna be REALLY down with a remake.

  • this stinks!

  • Chang isn't always a good thing. The first one was better. Don't change the old, create new or enhance. This could have been better!

  • I remember the old one, too. But this one was cute as well.

  • awesome animation. really amazing job indeed.

  • An okay song, but nowhere as good as the original.

  • After about 10 seconds I switched this off the original is so much better if it ain't broke don't fix it and that goes for other shows that have recently been updated :(

  • I like the original better.

  • I know what was wrong with the old one.

    CRAPPY ANIMATION.

The animation on this is stunning. Seriously, as someone who animates for a hobby, this is really impressive. Whoa...

  • @BizzarreProductions HOW DARE YOU DIS BUD LUCKEY'S ORIGINAL ANIMATION!!! IT WAS FAR FROM CRAPPY!!! THE OLD LADYBUGS PICNIC SET A STANDARD FOR THIS REMAKE!!! RESPECT THE LEGEND THAT IS BUD LUCKEY!!!

  • @DuckSauceMan Well, perhaps there isn't a good version of it on youtube, but what I've seen of it looks very choppy to me, which was typical of 70s animation -- much of it was very low quality.

I DO wish they'd have kept the original audio, though, because this person sounds like he's trying to be Bob Dylan. :/

  • @BizzarreProductions I agree with all of the above. Don't get me wrong, the clay animation is fine as is, but this song cover's unbearable for me to listen to. By the by, sorry for overreacting; no hard feelings; I just have TOO GREAT a respect for the things of old =)

  • @BizzarreProductions Computer graphics sucks ... dam Jurrasic Park and Toy Story for messing up entertainment.

  • @robfergusonjr Uh... this is claymation.

  • Awwww it is so cuteeeeee <3

  • hahahha the ladybugs are korean looking women

  • yep. the older one is way better. like everything else on Sesame Street...everything was better back when I was a kid. sad day.

  • There's also a 1970s version of this.

  • i don't mind this video...if i put it on mute.

  • this is an outrage! these are not ladybugs, they look like japanse girls. nope i give this a thumbs down, plus who ever is singing this song, can't sing at all. the original is way better anyways. this is like when they redid healthy foods with cookie monster video.

  • I say you guys do this one and the old one.... this one probably took forever to do and it works.... and the old one is a classic.

    This way everyone is happy.

  • Give it a rest, people. Sesame Street often has multiple versions of things. Why do you assume they're not going to air the original version as well?

  • Is their also a Mein Kampf picture book?

  • The ending in the original was better, when the fire got bigger and burnt the marshmallows to a crisp, before the fire dog came and put it out

  • Lol why do these short clips by sesame street always end badly =/

  • i like the old one!!):

  • There was NOTHING wrong with the original.

  • @lintonpair well, admittedly, the animation was nowhere near today's standards.

  • @lintonpair There is NOTHING wrong with a fun update. Now we have two fun ones to watch!!!

  • @lintonpair now there are two to love.

  • @lintonpair yeah I like the original better..

  • i like the original one. bring it back!

  • @123haninhk

I agree, nothing wrong with the old one. This is a waste of cash

  • So Sweet!

  • I fail to see the point of spending time and money to make a slightly different version of an existing segment that doesn't have anything wrong with it. I could understand if there was something in the segment that was no longer PC, but that's not the case here, nor was it the case with the pinball animations. Also, I would think that parents who grew up watching Sesame Street would be much happier if their children got to see the same animations that they did as kids.

  • what the... ? the old one is so much better!

  • ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT FOREST FIRES!

  • Please bring back the original

  • I'll take the original, thanks.

  • original is so much better.

  • Well done, Sesame Street! If you slow the video down, you'll see that all the ladybugs have their own personalities. Super cute!
